Look out everyone, the Etruscans are returning.
Since I might be able to restore a Hellenic Byzantium, which is by all means the Roman Empire, maybe we could have an alliance or, better yet, a royal marriage.
No Hellenic Religious majorities existed since long, long ago, there is nothing within the borders of reality to make it seem like it would suddenly return.

Like I said, it never truly died...but I do recognize that the majority of them are gone.
Plus, it's not so much a matter of converting the populace as keeping them down. Making it mandatory to be given Hellenic educated, and over generations converting. It is a long process, but it helps stay active. There will be dissenters, of course, but there are ways to deal with them.

Not even the royalty was Hellenic, why in heck would they convert?

I didn't say the royalty was Hellenistic. These are rebels. Well, not so much all religious as much as a group of rebels, most with different reasons, led by a zealot too attached to the old ways.

Fine, I will give you a pass, but realize that as soon as the word gets out you will lose Christian support and are susceptible to crusade. What will the Zealot be named? And If you don't make a really good, detailed transition from Orthodox to Hellenistic religion that you will lose this privilege.

It was all in the app.
I believe the name was Athenaia Mytillinites. It was lazy naming, but a good Late Greek name is so hard to find...
I realize all of the problems with leading a Pagan nation in the current time, and the transition shall be slow and detailed. Most likely starting with a few forced conversions (which most likely will lead to deaths rather than converters), teaching school children to be Hellenic, etc. Active missionaries and resources shall be devoted to conversion, what little resources there are to offer, but that shall stay internal. Until a position of power is gained, the Hellenistic practices will remain something of a "state secret" to never be mentioned near foreigners. There is the problem of merchants, however, so this facade likely will not last long, even with extreme effort.

Military Numbers: Since it is a rebel group, I'm hoping the whole population is accepted.
Main focus: Deposition of the emperor and restoration of a Hellenic Greek state
Other: Their reasoning for why it will work: if the Hellenic Greeks and Romans formed such massive empires, and Christian Romans had a failing empire, then Hellenism must be right. The Queen fancies herself to be an incarnate of Athena, or at least a blessed messenger. Their plans after restoration shall be conquest to reform the Byzantine, and possibly Alexandrian, Empire. They also hope to reform the Roman Empire, but even restoring the Alexandrian Empire is unrealistic currently. They are hoping to get positions at the emperor's court, help him conquer back lands, and then hold an insider coup.

If the full population of varied rebels is too large, I'll lower it like last time. On consideration, it most likely is too large.
