The Backstory
In 2023, the global wars on terror have slowly drawn to a close. Taxpayers, politicians, and soldiers alike have all come to one conclusion. This is not that war is bad, war is immoral, but war is expensive. As seen throughout the Iraqi War and the War in Afghanistan, Private Military Contractors, or PMCs have serviced the needs of the military, doing the same job they do logistically, but at a fraction of the cost.
Enter the United Nations, in their typical do-good attitude. Be it through coercion or political maneuvering, somehow the fine folk in the General Assembly and Security Council have signed a resolution. A resolution that bans countries, and prevents them through high financial and embargo penalties, to keep their armed forces within their own borders. Now here is where the line becomes oh so thin. The resolution still permits defense contractors to pursue contracts internationally, and repealed the ban on the use of foreign nationals to fight wars, as there will be no foreign nationals fighting in other countries. The United Nations just allowed the mercenary profession to come into the 21st Century.

Introduction
So hey! Welcome to the RP. Basically, this is a Hard-MT group, dedicated to building a company from the ground up. you will bid for contracts, negotiate, debate against each other. And when deployed, fight out your small little wars using the company you built. You saw it above. Want to transport your armoured SUVs to Zimbabwe to seize some oil fields? great! No way to get them there? Well you better build or buy some transports.
When you sign up, you build a rough framework of your company. I will help flesh it out, in addition to any volunteers that wish to add their knowledge in the area of war/military to this RP. Fill out an app, and then hop on the IRC! Simply follow the link and enter your nick and the channel #BloodMoney to talk! I try to be on the IRC as much as possible.
Staged Approval
In this RP we have 3 stages of approval. Stage 1, is getting your app up and approved. This involves filling out the app provided below, and then getting said application approved. Stage 2 is building your company. This requires detail, and lots of it. You'll be crunching numbers. From the average salary of your contractors to pilots, cost of vehicles and maintenance, and calculating logistics and researching equipment to use. Stage 3 is implementation. When a new contract on the page goes up, companies are allowed to bid for it. This is done simply by posting their intent to take the contract. If they win it (Decided by OP/co-OP conference) then they get to add that amount of money to their ledgers for that year. More money,bigger company. Bigger company, better ability to win contracts. better ability to win contracts, more money. Get the idea?
Realism
As said above, this is Hard-MT. So we will ensure that nothing stupid is done. For example, you can't fit 45 SUVs into a helicopter. C'mon. This is real life, or is it fantasy? Just kidding, real life. That means, when you post your intent to deploy, we'll limit you to what you can actually physically take as per your logistics. Then we'll compare that to your threat, tell you how many people died and how many vehicles/aircraft you may have lost, and if you were successful. Were you successful? You get the rest of the money (Hint: most contracts are half up front, half upon delivering the service)!
Gameplay
Once you have a Stage 3 company, you will be added to the stock market, an index of who is pulling down the most money annually, or after four quarters, if you want to use financial terms. Obviously, you'll start at the bottom. The stock market also reflects on how successful of a company you are. So if you are consistently screwing up contracts and haemorrhaging money, you'll drop like an anvil in a swimming pool. Start bids for small contracts, that most large companies will likely ignore. I mean, if you made $250 million on your last contract, $3 million is just pocket change. Moving up in the stock market is good, means that you have a better chance of winning a bigger contract. When bidding, as described above, you'll simply post in the contracts thread, and place your intent to that government that you wish to service their need. If you win that contract, you'll be go to a deployment thread, and post what you intend to deploy.If the OP approves it, then you'll be given approval, and then you will be given the outcome of your deployment, and what actually made it out of War-Torn Genocide-Ridden Country XYZ. Pick up your cheque, and then go buy more equipment! Or replace the stuff you lost. Remember, what equipment you use and field does have an effect. If you send guys in unarmoured pick-up trucks to fight a small-scale war, you're going to get hit in the wallet, hard. you and another company are getting mad over an oil field battle it out in the "Conflict Thread".
Equipment
Everything within the parameters of the MT period is acceptable. Want to buy a TOW missile and mount it to a Chevy SUV? Sure. Bolt on armour? Sure. Ta-da! you have a vehicle to use. With a price tag to take into account for your annual expenses. No PMT technologies, the equipment you must use cannot be experimental, that means no underslung EMP rounds, etc.

2. Don't bother applying if you don't intend to stick around. THere is a minimum activity level that you are required to keep up.
3. Keep profanity on the threads to a minimum, unless you got VODKA!
4. Follow the templates, they are there to help.
5. Keep your company profile updated, because if an OP needs to check something, we expect accurate information.
6. Don't be disappointed if things start to go bad! In seconds that can be turned around.
7. Be patient. There is going to be a lot of threads to keep track of, and unless I get some co-OPs, I'll be out here trying my best to keep everything running.
