I have always had a fairly positive view of America. Although it troubles me that your country is deeply divided on almost every major political issue, and your congressmen seem more concerned about partisan disputes than serving the people they represent.

Interestingly enough, Congress has a lower approval rating than basically every other conceivable political event. Communist takeover? More popular than Congress. We just fool ourselves into believing that our congressman isn't a greedy bastard, but, really, it's all of them. If you really wanna know who it is in Congress that is ruining the political process, look up the majority/minority whips. Those are the guys that threaten Congressmen with revoked funding and political hellfire if they even so much as dare to disagree with the party.

Character Name: Benjamin Harris

Nickname (Optional):

Age: 30

Gender: Male

Appearance: He is certainly not the most burly of figures, and is quite gentleman like in appearance, at least for the time being. Well defined features as if they were set in stone adorn his face, while short brown hair to match his intelligently bright eyes accompanies.

Position (Captain, quartermaster, etc.): Gunner

Personal History: Benjamin, born to of all things, a Manchester lawyer, lead a life that most of these inhabitants of such cramped vessels would have considered far too good for someone to turn away from to become a marauder across the sea, a brigand which was hunted by the Spaniards and British alike across the Caribbean on land and sea. He was tutored during his childhood, and throughout his life he was instructed on horseback riding, swordsmanship, and all manner of etiquette and how to become a 'proper gentleman' as his mother so often coined him. In fact, in a way, he still considers himself gentlemanly. He's unsure of whether or not adaptation to the rougher style of life the pirates around him lead, but he is without a doubt one of the more well-manner and well-groomed men aboard the ship. He tries to not smell like he's been at sea for months on end, though it would appear to be something of a hopeless endeavor. How exactly he ended up in these islands and amongst these men is a simple enough tale. One of his interests was botany, which was rather interesting in such tropical islands as those found in the Caribbean. While his work was not funded by the crown or some kind of man of science or a school, he turned to something of a last resort to end up in the Caribbean - the Royal Navy. It was without a doubt the safest way to the sea, and for an astoundingly high price which he borrowed from his own funds and that of his father he was able to secure transport aboard a Ship-of-the-Line to the British possessions in the sea.

When he arrived, he found that the time he'd spent at sea was perhaps what had captured his adventurous spirit more than anything else. How these sailors were so disciplined, having orders shouted and answered in way of them being carried out, how intricate of a system the crew of such a vessel was, all of these things brought out within him a need for more excitement than being a flat, boring, 'gentleman.' He's learned much about gunnery during his time in the Caribbean, and he considers himself adequate enough in this regard to begin a life of piracy which he ensures himself will be quite thrilling.

The ship that he'd been transported upon had been fired upon by Spanish vessels and such pirate ships as that he sails on now during his time in the Caribbean before turning to piracy. For the course of a full three years after his arrival, he'd been forced to quarter with the gunner of this war ship. Throughout the previously mentioned engagements, he'd been ordered to assist in moving the cannons into position, firing, loading, preparing them to fire once more. While in the beginning months he was far from the best man for the job, the more he did this kind of thing the more he found that he was becoming quite good at it. Instruction from the gunner himself was a great factor in his eventual progression in gunnery skill. One day, he simply vanished while his ship was in dock. He set off to discover a new source of income, a far more dishonest one than botany, piracy. He didn't hesitate to take the first opportunity that arose, a pirate by the name of William Hachet

Personality: He is quite eager to begin this new life as a pirate - he has no other motivation than adventure, as he lead a comfortable life, being well educated and rather gentlemanly compared to most of his shipmates. He is not soft however, as he is always ready to open fire with the cannons he's learned so much about.

Weapons: The cutlass he was given by a crew member, though he's not skilled with the use of this blade and is much more used to handling a rapier. Over both of these he would prefer to trust his life in his shooting capabilities with the various flintlocks he keeps on him within loops and pockets stitched onto his clothing, something he'd observed that many of these pirates practiced. He holds a maximum of four of these pistols at any time, marking them with his initials carved into the grip so as to recognize them if he is forced to drop them after their single shot before having any time to reload.

Weaknesses (REQUIRED): Somewhat weak-willed and dependent on a leadership role, lacking the qualities to take up that role himself, due to his inexperience and age relative to most sailors, especially those that happen to be former Royal Navy or Armada sailors.

Captain: William Hachet

Ship Details (Captain only):
