I wear teal, blue & pink for Swith
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination.

), but I've always assumed unless writers of the fight scene specifically asked someone OOC-wise to join, butt out. Simple.

Like Tieria. Fighting is in his character. He was actually trying to STOP the fight but it escalated instead of cooling down.

Tiltjuice wrote:I think the distinguishing line is asking first. Note that like Tieria, Dora is ordinarily not one to stand idly by and watch the fight go on - which is why, in the original version, I had her ask Katya if she should step in. That should, as I said, preferably happen in the OOC rather than indirectly via the IC.
Also, the sheer number of social ties among the characters - because there's so many of them! - makes it hard to predict the results of stepping in. While there's a lot of ways to do that (Gio trying to talk them down, joined by Luce in the current set of events [versus Dora in the original] or Tieria trying to restrain Torii) and we're not saying "Act against personality", there are still other things to do. Tieria could have been caught up in conversation. Dora could have regarded the whole mess as beneath her at first, as she was edited to do, and then stepped in only when it looked like it wasn't going away.
For the sake of clarity, here's what's going on from my characters' point of view. Not going to get into the romance aspect as that's fairly obvious, just the ordinary social ties.
Dora. She's a protector in general. Conservator tradition. She also feels close to Gio, and wants to get Torii to warm up to her for obvious reasons. Fighting, to her, is largely a waste of time and effort better spent on other things. She's suspicious of the fake Tasia, starting with Yoshi telling her about what happened and now this.
The fake Tasia. She's out to try to recruit Torii, to a greater or lesser extent (whatever she can get), to follow Allspice's plans, whatever they may be. To that end, she's a bit manipulative, doing whatever she can to get Torii to trust her.
Chrys. "Doesn't get along" with the person she thinks is her twin sister is a bit of an understatement. Had it been anyone revivable other than a fellow Conservator (or possibly Hans) standing in her way, she'd have just tried to slice her way through to get to the fake Tasia.
I'm also open to answering other questions about RPing (or social ties, since you guys will probably inevitably ask about that) here/TG/IRC.
This is a difficult issue, I admit, and moreso for those who gear their characters to be interventionists, to make an impact on the world. Swith does subtlety well; this is what Chaos cultists do. I painted myself into a corner with Conservator nature, which is why I got stuck a couple times with Bran and Zark's characters. (Ask them about it, if they remember.) Eventually, I got used to having them not be everywhere at once, or limiting their awareness or reaction intensity, as with Naomi sneaking around at first on that trip to the Branriech to disarm that weapons system, and Dora figuring it was OK as long as there was a Conservator somewhere watching her.

No clue. *laughs*
They probably wandered out somewhere into the old city and died when the Drones blew it up.
Unless something secretly very cool happened, and then there were figs.
Mmm, figs. But don't eat too many, because I hate it when I suffocation.

Behind the bar.
