(Since I'm stuck here with nothing to do)

REDACTS aka "Red Cats"
REDACTS are an edit. A post is changed slighty to better frame the intention. You've mistakenly posted as characters standing in the rain when it's snowing? Change rain to snow. You forgot that you were supposed to add eating crackers? Add it. You were asked to step out of a fight scene? Change your posts in a way that makes your character move away.

REDACTS are not deleting an entire post and leaving a gaping hole.

Let's pretend Tilt and I need to Red Cat four posts beginning with mine.

I change my first post. Tilt reads it and changes his post. I read his post and change my next post. He reads that post and changes his next post. We're back on track.

You MUST edit your post if the person's change affects your reaction. Don't be lazy. Read and then base your response (edited response) off it. No different that straight RP.

FIGHTS
It's rude to jump in. Period. Ask. Don't be offended if told "no".

Jumping in is a form of "upstaging" (theatre term). It steals a scene from the other player (actor). You deprive them of whatever they're building up to. This is why you need to ALWAYS ask.

BULL ARENA
Advanced players might see you upstaging. They might use their character to pull you away from a "closed" element. Swith did this with Minerva/Tieria. They wave a red flag. Go chase it.

DICK MOVES
Don't be a dick.

(continued. Apologies. Surgeon came in to give post op report.)

RE: above stuff.

It makes little sense to make those things rules. They're simply good etiquette. Right now -- consider them suggestions. I haven't had opportunity to touch base with Tilt, Bones and Cer to get their feedback on the suggestions. I'd like your feedback as well, please.

Red Cats - I freely admit to doing this all the time. All the time. Edits I mean, not deleting entire sections or posts. I find that once I've written and posted, I go back to read what I've typed in case I've missed, assumed, meta'ed, or otherwise made myself look like a twit. Sometimes its as simple as wanting my char to give a facial expression, or maybe move a certain way. Not everyone can (or will) infer through dialogue, and at times I tend to miss that. I'm all for minor edits that enhances my posts.

Full out deletions? No. Just no. When reading through a whole page and then suddenly finding a few words to 'patch' scenes up is equivalent to watching a movie on a damaged video cassette. It doesn't flow, it doesn't fit, and raises supernatural levels of irritation.

Fights - Well, haven't gotten into any fights with anyone here (yet, ), but I've always assumed unless writers of the fight scene specifically asked someone OOC-wise to join, butt out. Simple.

Bull Arena - I've never heard of bull arena, to be honest, but the explanation is self-explanatory.

Dick Moves - uh yeah, nothing more need be said than don't be a dick ^_^

Red Cats - I love all cats

Wreck Bats - I only remove post completely after a major screw-up (3 times) or what I was working on to enter a scene has been completely been invalidated. (Error: counter broken). For the most part, I just leave well enough alone, unless there is typos...can't stand leaving my typos in.

Fights - Sure I jumped in on the early days (all 1 time), but that was a year ago. I realize that was bad form, but I was still learning.

Bull Arena - Never heard that term in an RP before, but I think I know what Cer is saying.

Dick Moves - You don't need to tell me once.

REDACTS. Not a problem, I do this anyway. I do the same as Mincal.

Wreck Bats. I pretty much do the same as NVE here.

Fights. No dispute.

Bull Arena. Hrm. It makes sense. I hadn't heard of this before, but I like the name.

Bull Arena is slang from an old RP. *grins* We used to go to OOC and post "Torro!" when people were doing it.

Some characters would be OoC if they didn't step in upon observing a fight. Would these RPers be forced to either RP OoC or to redact in order to move their character out of the situation?

Like Tieria. Fighting is in his character. He was actually trying to STOP the fight but it escalated instead of cooling down.

I think the distinguishing line is asking first. Note that like Tieria, Dora is ordinarily not one to stand idly by and watch the fight go on - which is why, in the original version, I had her ask Katya if she should step in. That should, as I said, preferably happen in the OOC rather than indirectly via the IC.

Also, the sheer number of social ties among the characters - because there's so many of them! - makes it hard to predict the results of stepping in. While there's a lot of ways to do that (Gio trying to talk them down, joined by Luce in the current set of events [versus Dora in the original] or Tieria trying to restrain Torii) and we're not saying "Act against personality", there are still other things to do. Tieria could have been caught up in conversation. Dora could have regarded the whole mess as beneath her at first, as she was edited to do, and then stepped in only when it looked like it wasn't going away.

For the sake of clarity, here's what's going on from my characters' point of view. Not going to get into the romance aspect as that's fairly obvious, just the ordinary social ties.

Dora. She's a protector in general. Conservator tradition. She also feels close to Gio, and wants to get Torii to warm up to her for obvious reasons. Fighting, to her, is largely a waste of time and effort better spent on other things. She's suspicious of the fake Tasia, starting with Yoshi telling her about what happened and now this.
The fake Tasia. She's out to try to recruit Torii, to a greater or lesser extent (whatever she can get), to follow Allspice's plans, whatever they may be. To that end, she's a bit manipulative, doing whatever she can to get Torii to trust her.
Chrys. "Doesn't get along" with the person she thinks is her twin sister is a bit of an understatement. Had it been anyone revivable other than a fellow Conservator (or possibly Hans) standing in her way, she'd have just tried to slice her way through to get to the fake Tasia.

I'm also open to answering other questions about RPing (or social ties, since you guys will probably inevitably ask about that :p ) here/TG/IRC.

This is a difficult issue, I admit, and moreso for those who gear their characters to be interventionists, to make an impact on the world. Swith does subtlety well; this is what Chaos cultists do. I painted myself into a corner with Conservator nature, which is why I got stuck a couple times with Bran and Zark's characters. (Ask them about it, if they remember.) Eventually, I got used to having them not be everywhere at once, or limiting their awareness or reaction intensity, as with Naomi sneaking around at first on that trip to the Branriech to disarm that weapons system, and Dora figuring it was OK as long as there was a Conservator somewhere watching her.

That's partially why I had Luce and Dia approach Kei, since I figured she'd be interested in finding out about that development later on. I'll have them swing by again, once things pick up a bit.

No clue. *laughs*

They probably wandered out somewhere into the old city and died when the Drones blew it up.

Unless something secretly very cool happened, and then there were figs.

Mmm, figs. But don't eat too many, because I hate it when I suffocation.

I bet what happened was that the Conservators were all like, "Wow, you guys were good at breaking out of prison, we're so sure that one bubble had no-one in it; certainly that person was not at all involved in the breakout. You guys want to work in the bar?" Or maybe they were all just recaptured.
