Varona stayed as she watched the others run out. She noted Bran dropping his bag, and deftly grabbed it's handle as the conscript all but abandoned it. No one could afford to leave anything to waste in a place like this. "Let's go. Keep close on my heels, everyone." She said as she headed out of the bank and down the small stream. "If anyone has a light, take point now. I'll try to cover you as best I can. Nobody lallygag, now, or you may be left behind."

"Bat'leth it is!" she declaimed, ringingly. There was no hesitation in her voice. "Live, yes? It would not be so real without genuine blades."

The mek'leth, too, looked promising, but she felt like only one blade as a prize was appropriate. No sooner had she thought that, though, than another female Klingon shoved past her and snatched at Ha'nS' right hand. Startled, ChryS took a step back, and then two steps forward.

"DoH!" she barked at the interloper who clearly took an interest in her man, and shoved the other woman back in case the command wasn't clear enough.

Ha'nS was flattered - and annoyed - by the emboldened female. "naDevvo' yIghoS!" he spat to indicate he wasn't interested.

The female was attractive for a Klingon but he could obtain a daemonette if he was in the mood to consort with a female warrior. This Klingon woman lacked Chrys' tenderness and doubts as well as her playful attitude. Klaus' men seldom felt physical attraction to anything thanks to their inner Daemons (a helpful trait when their main opponents relied upon sexual potency as a weapon) and this fact alone placed Chrys far above all other females in the omniverse. "No one can oppose the beating of two hearts," he growled at the interloper and bared his teeth to indicate he wasn't offering encouragement, "My heart has already found its match."

Mezran hadn't gone into much detail regarding combat between males and females but cultists saw no distinction between genders when in combat.

Rudolf slipped from his bench and pressed his shoulder against Mezran's.

"He'll kill her if she becomes too aggressive, and by 'he', I mean Hans' inner daemon," Rudolf murmured in his companion's ear. "He'll tolerate sexual aggression from Chrys but not from a stranger."

It was a crossroads, now, whether the Klingon female wanted to continue intruding or whether she and Ha'nS would be able to have their sparring match. Either way was fine with her, and her own heart stirred at his words, enough to give her new confidence.

She swept up the bat'leth in one hand and gestured to the other woman with the other. "Come on, if you will!" she barked proudly, but with a flavoring of pride. "Or will you deny me a victory to share with him?"

Marcus nodded to Giovenith. He was a bit ashamed by his rash behavior but it wasn't anything to cause him to want to wear a paper bag over his head or crawl under a rock. He laughed it off and helped her stash a few things before walking to the bank entrance to peer into the gloom.

"Right. I don't know anything about magic but I do know those nanites would be bad news. Dani's right. The sooner we go, the better." His eyes widened as he caught sight of a dark form scaling down the wall; it was Am. He suspected the creature had chanced being caught by the nanites in order to join Nex. "Kale, let's load your stretcher up again. At this point, I say 'fuck magic'. Giovenith's pockets can hold a ton of stuff. We'll need light, plus-"

Am let go of the wall and fell the remaining thirty feet. His body position reminded the boy of a spider; the legs were tucked into the body. Marcus could hardly fathom as to why the creature would take such an action when it seemed perfectly capable of descending slowly. A soft splash told the boy that Am had landed in the water behind the bank.

FUBAR had also noticed the Tilktep. In fact, it was prepared to sizzle the parasite and would have done so were it not for Am's choice to let go. The unit had witnessed this strabge behavior on several occasions: logic stated that falling to one's demise was better than being harvested. FUBAR's light played up the sleek wall and illuminated the very top of the opening where a dark bolus rippled over the edge as slowly as frosting melting down the side of a warm cupcake. The unit burbled a warning that only Dani could interpret but the meaning was clear; they were all in danger.

FUBAR scurried into the tunnel just as a dark form tumbled from the bank's cracked roof. Am had climbed the building to rejoin them. "Haste!" the Tilktep urged the group. The conversation he projected into Nex' mind was more informative. "Friend Nex, now is the time to flee. Quickly, before the nanites inform their shepherd and it comes to investigate."

Ki hustled over to the entrance of the tunnel and peered in, he saw some of the others hurrying down the dark passageway. His natural low light vision may come in handy down here. He looked around at the others, seeing them battered and beaten by the harsh environment and the sudden fall. Suddenly a vision of his past sprang into his mind. He saw his fellow soldiers remorselessly leaving their wounded comrades behind. The enemy was approaching quickly and their deaths would make a nice distraction. Ki stood there at the entrance tunnel staring off for a bit before shaking himself out of it. The vision had reminded him of why he had left his awful planet.

"Can everyone travel on their own? I can help if anyone needs it." He asked urgently, wanting himself and the others to be able to get away from that pool as soon as possible.

She had heard the two names thrown around the apartment before, and wondered if there was some sort of weird coincidence about it all, but she shook her head of the notion as the two excitedly introduced themselves to her.

"So you two are going to be making my armor today? You two must be professionals, Ja?" She grinned happily. "Ich heiße Natiya Nikanor." She nodded her head. She still had a tenuous grasp on the language, having taken more to English simply because of more years having been spent in America.

The twins grinned and replied, "Ja, ve make your armor und ve professionals!"

The an looked at them both, "Alright you two, you now vhat you got to do, right?"

"Ja, ve make armor." They both said in unison before running back into the workshop. The man looked at them and said, "Oh, forgot to mention myself I am Adalard von Brandenburg, und zhose two are my children. Family business. Anyway, is zhere anyzhing you need, meine freunde?"

"Aleki shook his head and replied, "No, I am good." He looked over at Natiya and asked, "You good sweetie?"

Mezran eyed the two females that stood off, the room had fallen silent save for a few still chewing with mouths open and the flicks of ember that escaped their fiery pits. He knew this contest wouldn't be to the death - it would be antithetical to the whole point of mating. Still there was the warning of Ru'Hoff's words and they were not lost to the Klingon. He understood clearly as the genders here were treated equally without distinction in any contest of wills. After all, Kahless' mate - Lurkana - stood with him in the frontlines of many of his battles and never flinched or retreated.

Still, this was a mating initiation and despite its very aggressive and direct nature, there were some finer lines that the females of their species took to heart. And they tended to take it vastly more personally than did the males when such lines were violated.

"It is.. not something I can intervene in," Mezran said almost apologetically. "If ChryS is indeed spoken for, then the contest will swing to her favor if her heart is true. The usurper must prove that she is the right mate, or at least a prospect to be taken into serious consideration." HanS could intervene, Mezran thought, but the same delicate lines that held Mezran back also applied to HanS, maybe more so. First, it would tarnish the honor of ChryS if she couldn't rise to the challenge because her unclaimed mate interfered in a contest between the two females. And second and most damning, it would humiliate them both and their houses, making them weak to their enemies. Of course, neither of them had actual houses or families in Qo'Nos, but it was the principal of the matter that needed to be observed.

What confused Mezran at that moment was and he turned to his friend, "Why is it these two have not jumped upon each other like a pair of heated targs before?" He asked, almost sounding like a demand. "All this could be over had they just declare themselves simply."

"And right you are," The crone said, standing at the entrance of the hall, the arms to her side, her poise as stoic as it was when she greeted them on their return. She turned her head to the two women, almost regal in the manner in which she moved. "SerrI'Ya, these two are spoken for, even if they have not claimed each other. You must respect that."

"I do not have to do any such thing!" SerrI'Ya's voice was deep and rich like many young Klingon women in their prime. "How was I suppose to know this teH'Qeq would be foolish enough not to declare herself for him. He is strong, attractive and I deserve a chance to make myself available if I so choose it!" The woman's d'k'tagh was gripped tightly, in fact, two were held. One in each hand, and one slightly longer than the other, almost a short sword.

"Then do with the others but not these two. You will step between two hearts? Will you also tarnish yourself to be a parasitic desperate whore?" The old woman spat. "Have you thought about that!? Who can love such a being!? Think you foolish child!"

The woman seem flustered as her eyes moved right to left rapidly. She made a sound, a mix between a choke and a scoff, spitting it out like bile when it finally escaped her throat. "I see no reason to at least make myself a prospect."

The old woman sighed, "Of course, with the others." Before SerrI'Ya could protest, the old woman raised her hand to silence her, her voice thundered in the room as she made her declaration final. "I am the matriarch of this guild. I will decide who is worthy of who. You challenge my ruling at your peril, SerrI'Ya, I suggest you do not push me too far."

SurrI'Ya made an irritated sound and stormed off, purposely pushing past the old woman with her shoulder. The noise level began to fill the room slowly and the old woman approached the group, eyeing them all carefully. "You'll have to forgive my daughter. She is headstrong, foolish, and eager for a husband." She stared at ChryS and HanS. "She is right, however. If you two are indeed in love, then take it by the reins and seize the moment. Nothing is as strong as love, children, and nothing is as fleeting and painful when you let it pass. I leave you all now, I have a daughter console." She made a curt nod and left them.

Sterling trotted up next to Ki and nodded appreciatively. "I'm good, but thanks for asking. But I think right now it'll be for the best to get moving. I'm sure everyone is okay and healthy enough to move so we should do that soon. I'd rather not loose any friends here. That includes you, Ki, so get moving!" Sterling said, giving the bug-like being a little nudge with a hoof to tell him to get going even more so.

Sterling then looked over towards Marcus, and called over to him, "If we are still allowed to use magic, I could create light sources for us, or at the least shine a light ahead of us like that glowing thing you have there." Sterling stepped into the tunnel after Dia and the others who had already left, and started trotting after them, hoping that they were getting a large enough head start to make sure that they could survive these tunnels.

Nex watched in slight alarm as Am fell from the wall, not sure about how fall Am could fall safely. When he heard his friend's voice in his head, he felt relief, but knew he couldn't relax now. Hoping that magic wouldn't cause any more problems, he teleported back in to the bank and began gathering up as much of the canned food as he could, before teleporting to where Kale was and placing the cans on Joe. "Get going," He said to them as he quickly teleported back inside, grabbing more food that had fallen off of Joe. Once more he teleported back, depositing the food on the stretcher. Deciding that it was too risky to go back for more, he headed off in to the tunnel.

Tribblequest

Claim her? Ha'nS thought back to the night prior and the couple writhing about the floor like Minerva's lads (and lasses) in heat. No, despite his current randy feelings, the cultist wouldn't stoop to Slaanesh's level. In public, anyway. A small part of him was slightly irked by SurrI'Ya's insistence but also flattered by her words. Let the child storm off. Let the crone comfort her. It made little difference to him.

"I spoke my desire long before," he stated evenly and with a stern eye upon any newcomers who might speak up or, worse, decide to claim him. His whiskers lifted with his lip's curl as he locked eyes with ChryS. "But perhaps I wasn't clear enough?

My house is strong;
My brothers fear no battle
And I have gone to war
More than many realize.

Your house is strong;
Your brothers and sisters, mighty
And you have gone to war
More than many realize.

Our pasts have carved us
Like a weapon master hones a blade;
Each boasts great deeds but
We are alone in our journey.

Will you run into battle,
ChryS, woman of Fate,
And stand beside me
Though we face certain death?

Will you raise your blade
In unity with mine?
Will you bare your teeth
And match me, fearless?

I will have only you.
I am yours and only yours.
There is no other woman
That can compare.

Let the universe quake
And gods writhe in terror,
And let all know this day
That Ha'nS and ChryS are one!"

The Klingon cultist growled and pulled an old bat'leth from the wall. The weapon had a good balance to it and the blade was still deadly sharp against his thumb's edge. His eyes returned to Chrys'. A churlish snort escaped him. "Well, woman? How many others will step forward to claim me before you make your desires known?"

Ru'hOff leaned towards his companion once again. "He's shy?" he responded to Mezran's question.

Ray and the other stragglers grabbed a few remaining cans after Nex's last teleport. They hurried into the tunnel after the group but even Ray's senses would leave him confused in an unfamiliar setting. There was a reason dogs wandered into sewers and became lost.

Sterling's magic illuminated the tunnel walls but did little to make the journey smooth. The bank was strewn with debris and the frigid waters numbed the ankles of those who chose to wade the stream. Their footfalls echoed in the enclosed space although the water's burbling blotted out much of the sound. They trudged on for some time, always going forward, and discovered no doors along the way. Marcus was about to call for a rest but held his tongue: the waterway had split into two distinct tunnels.

There was a cool breeze flowing from the right-hand branch although it was far too dark to see where this one led. The left branch didn't offer any air flow at all but, at the very edge of Sterling's light, the water seemed to be coursing past concrete steps recessed within the wall itself. These seemed to lead upwards by eight steps. There was a narrow landing and a large door flush with the wall in that alcove.

Soft music awoke Darkblade and Lil. It was an old waltz of German origin; the melody sounded somewhat tinny and was marred by a subtle scratching noise as the needle rode the record's grooves. The air carried the flavors of buttered toast and roasted coffee.

They were lying on old military cots in a dim room. Someone had covered them with warm woolen blankets that felt scratchy against their cheeks and chins. There were several such beds in the small area as well as a long table with benches running each side of it. The music's source was revealed to be an old phonograph; the wooden case was careworn and the brass crank had lost its polish years ago, but the bell still produced clear notes. The room itself had grey concrete walls which curved and gave one the feeling of being inside a large pipe. Each end of the room terminated in a concrete wall with a single metal door.

Off to one side, and looking rather bored, was a man in a faded, grey Nazi uniform. The black leather jackboots had seen their fair share of miles. The man himself was equally faded although his eyes were still a piercing blue shade. His face bore scars however, and his nose appeared to have been broken and reset several times. He sat with an ankle resting upon the opposite knee and each hand resting on the arms of a French-styled arm chair from a bygone era.

"You have slept too long." The phonology of his words betrayed him as authentic in German breeding, rendering have into haff and slept into schlept. "Come. Wake up. Eat."

"Got it, thanks, Dia." Bran nodded as he rushed past, skidding to a stop with the group as of now. It felt like they had at least a few minutes to gather themselves and get moving. As of now though, they weren't in the best position, and Bran would rather face the streets of this world than deal with the underground of it, if they had to. He shrugged though, and headed over to where Kale was, following her with the rest of the group through the tunnel.

Natiya smiled. The kids were quite the pair, and she assumed that it made the place quite the place to be around when they were having a good time. She regarded the man behind the counter and smiled once more, or continued her smile. She was just happy to be there, so it was obvious that one would normally smile. "Nope, I think I'm good, maybe we can go for lunch somewhere, or see the sights?"

Her shoulders rolled back in a shrug and gesture of relaxation as she wondered what there was to do here.

When Jason awoke and sat up on the cot he was just sleeping on he looked around at his surroundings, not recognizing where he was. His eyes after looking around placed themselves on the German man. After a minute of studying the man he said "Where am I? And who are you? And what am I doing here?" Jason sat where he was awaiting the German Man's answer.

Jason was wearing a loose black shirt and black pants along with his black boots. He had black shoulder length hair that was currently covering his greyish blue eyes. (Sorta like this picture I drew.

Lilian's long ears twitched as music awoke her from a deep slumber. The girl pushed her messy, golden hair out of her face to get a better view of her surroundings. Lilian was covered in fur and her anatomy was an odd mix of rabbit and human. She had slender fingers with stubby claws at the tips and pads on the bottom; her nose was a flat, pink dot that twitched in the presence of strong scents; she even had a fluffy little thing of a tail on her backside.

The room around Lilian was not where she had last been. Last thing Lilian remembered was stepping out of her car in front of The Building. She was expecting a reunion with her pals not a dull room. There was a man next to her that seemed as confused as she was and another man who seemed to know what was going on. She looked at the nazi, "Yeah, what's happening? Where are we? Is this another part of The Building? Is it a surprise? Surprise are hella rad! We were sleeping for a long time? How long were we sleeping?". Lilian then addressed the man next to her. "Are you from Bielefeld too? Maybe we're neighbors. Dude, maybe we even live at the same place!"

Jason replied to the overly exited Rabbit girl with "What is, and where is Biefeld? And no I am not from Biefeld, I was born in Arastold, one of the greatest kingdoms of Prae, however it fell to neighboring kingdoms." The last part of the sentence was said with a sad tone, much like when you're remember a very sad incident. "Anyways, I'm Lord Jason Remus Darkblade, duke of Calios. You may call me Jason, and you are?"

Lilian pulled herself free of the blankets and leaned over to Jason with her hand out for a handshake. "Bielefeld is the city I live in! It's where I last was before I was here... Here could be Bielefeld though. What's Prae? I've never heard of it before. What's it like? Why did it fall? When did it fall? I'm Lilian, by the way, Lilian Moritz!". She spoke rapidly, her eyes widening and hands making exaggerated gestures as she spoke. It was almost as if she had forgotten what the current situation was. Her voice was high-pitched for a girl her age and full of excitement. Everyday was a new, exciting adventure, wasn't it?

Jason shook the girl's hand before watching the girl while she spoke, and when she finished he chuckled "Prae is the world, like Earth? It is also the universe, because you see, Prae was settled by Voidwalkers, a race of beings that protect Universal Travels and keep it from being used for war. Anyways Arastold is the kingdom that fell, and it fell a few years ago due to multiple wars between the Elven kingdoms, a Dwarven kingdom and one of the neighboring human Kingdoms. Arastold was a great kingdom, having survived longer than any of the others, my family were once counts, but, when Arastold fell my father was made a duke by the king that took the capital Duchy." Jason didn't know why he was telling the story of Arastold, but being seeing someone actually interested and asking questions made him smile, but slightly scared, because what if he said something that would offend the girl by accident?

He did't want his legs going numb from the water, because that would make walking difficult for a quadruped like himself."I hope we're outpacing the evil metal water...." He whispered, glancing back to try seeing if the roiling mass was heading down the tunnel, his ears flitting between that and back forward as he watched for a bit.

Sterling then sighed, realizing that if they were coming it would be difficult to see, so he looked forward once again. That's when he heard the sound of moving water and felt the cool breeze. "Huh. Is the breeze direction the way out? ? I've heard that heading towards breeze can help when trying to escape the underground."

The place wasn't exactly quiet; most sounds, the cat figured, would probably be covered by the ambient noise, and he hadn't seen any ears on the nanites. Besides, he needed to vent/de-stress and licking himself was not an option.

"Mroww. Merroow. Mreow. MEOW!" Torii would feel frustration (very possibly not entirely Nick's, as he'd continue his upset meowing for awhile or until told to stop and such could really get on one's nerves), as well as a questioning feeling and to a lesser extent other logical ones; in her mind's eye, so to speak, a replay of Nick's earlier question about her "saying" something would occur. After that had finished, she'd "hear" Nick saying that it wasn't noise this time as those things didn't have ears as far as he could tell, but he was scared and besides it would help to be able to guide her feet and such...
Come to the light side.  We have teamwork, waffles, popcorn, grape juice, and way too much ramen.

Unless one is a genealogist, therapist, geneticist, or FBI agent - who is acting within the scope of their job - to claim that anyone is wrong about their own identity is not merely absurd but also extremely rude.

The German cleared his throat. "Lilian and Jason, if you're done being social?" he intoned, "You are in Vaffelhelm. The year is 2034. We found both of you unconscious in front of the Building ruins and assume you've been brought here from another time. You're both much too healthy and clean to have come from this dimension."

He uncrossed his legs and leaned forward to study them both. "I take it you're unaware of the Drone Invasion and the subsequent Cthulhu invasion? My guess is that you're completely lost or else separated from the group that left the Building ruins this morning. Tell me, Lilian, what is this Bielefeld you speak of?"

"Nope, I think I'm good, maybe we can go for lunch somewhere, or see the sights?"

Her shoulders rolled back in a shrug and gesture of relaxation as she wondered what there was to do here.

"Vell if it is sight seeing, zhen zhis place is no good. Trading center und industry. If you can, you could try to go to one of zhe more publicly opened islands owned by zhe third district, or maybe go to zhe sixzh, or sevenzh. Eizher vay, good times to be made here. Now, if you two don't mind, I got to get back to work." The man gathered up his pad and other stuff and headed back into the forge humming some random tune as he walked.

"Well, the man did make a few good points." Aleki remarked.

Varona stepped around the group, glancing at the fork in the tunnel. Before making her decision, she took Bran's bag and grabbed her pistol out of it. To cast a thing aside with someone else's possession in it was a bit foolhardy and careless. She took both pistols in her hands, her rifle in an extra set, and walked over to the conscript. She threw the bag at him, not really caring to give him a warning. "We waste nothing." She said to him before walking to the front of the group and looking at the fork again. She turned back. "So, who wants to take point?" She asked.

Ki felt the breeze blow across his antennae and tried to look down the dark hallway to see if he could make out anything. He thought that maybe he could pick something up if he let his eyes focus.

"Just because there is a breeze doesn't mean its an opening that we could make it through. We also should consider that those stairs are definitely manmade and therefore probably lead somewhere. Of course our way could be barred or it could be collapsed or any number of things. I can go scout a short ways down that hallway to see if I can make out anything if you guys want, my vision is suited to dark environments and I'm pretty good at eluding enemies. I wouldn't go far so Sterling's light shining down the hall should be enough to maneuver with and I could possibly pick up light sources or details once I'm further away from our light source." He said with a bit of indecision in his voice as he continued peering down each path.

After the German explained partially what is going on Jason asked "Vaffelheim? What's that? Also, what happened during these Drone and," He paused for a second thinking over what he was about to say "Cthulu invasion? Also, what is this Building you speak of?"

Realizing that the Nanites could easily come back for them, Bran shuddered. He didn't want to see what they could do to a person if caught, and figured he'd rather be shot than deal with anything Drone. He heard the name 'Dani' tossed around by Dia, and was too busy thinking about that to worry about the nanites.

Was it the same Dani?

"Yeah, if it comes back, we'll be in real trouble."

"Oh, well, I've got no idea what we should see, Aleki?" Natiya leaned into him. She didn't know what the sights were, and figured that Aleki knew. "Some of the islands sound nice? Maybe we could swim?"

The answer was on the tip of her tongue and she yearned to give it. But nothingness - zero - had a very tiresome meaning for her. Time hated being wasted, however, and for the moment she was Klingon, not her normal self. And for that moment, she drew on the courage of her adopted race.

She strode forward, no hesitation or diffidence visible now, and tossed her head proudly, sending the medium brown hair whirling about as kelp in a hurricane.

"I had none before you, and I shall have none after you - let all witness, and turn their backs if I break faith," she cried out. Her own bat'leth turned in a swift arc and clanged against Ha'nS' as she held it parallel to his, their hands touching, back to back along the grips of the swords. The tips threw the barest shadows on the floor, but beyond them the lengths of the curved blades cast longer, more artistic flickering images on the walls of the chamber.

ChryS turned to face the rest of the hall, gazing at no one and everyone, and squared her shoulders. Whatever happened next, she would take in stride, though she wasn't sure herself what this proclamation would lead to. Even so, leaps of faith often led to the most rewarding touchdowns.

Lilian nodded her head at Jason. "That sounds cool! You'll have to tell me more later." The concept of other worlds besides Earth was still new to her, but Lilian had met beings from other planets before. This Jason guy seemed nice and interesting. He would be perfect for Bielefeld!

The German man reminded her vaguely of a man named Rudolph for worked at The Building; this guy would do well at Bielefeld, too. "Bielefeld is the city I've been living in for the past few months. It's totally wicked! Last time I was there there was this carnival, which was so totally awesome, but a fight broke out and ruined the mood.", she nodded at Jason's questions, "What's a Cthulu? The Building is in ruins? As in The Building? That's part of Bielefeld! There was a group here? They might have been my friends! Was there anyone with blue skin? A cyborg? Do you know why we're here? Dude, other dimensions exist?" Lilian could handle other worlds, but other dimensions? Say it ain't so.
