Leroy nodded to Todesfall when he said to cover hi, and watched everyone carefully as the cultist went around apparently smelling everyone. He was glad that everyone seemed willing to cooperate, as he didn't particularly feel like shooting someone less then an hour after arriving at his new home. He would if he had to, of course, he didn't really care that much, he would just prefer not to have to. "Do any of you know how many people might still be inside?" He asked, looking from one to the other through the eyes of his suit. For him, his vision was basically just perfectly normal, but to anyone else, it would look nearly impossible to see out of the helmet, due to the lack of obvious eye holes.

Wolfgang relaxed when people seemed to want to cooperate, and cautiously padded up to them, sniffing at them, trying to see if he could detect anything off from any of them with his dog senses. As far as he could tell, they all seemed fine to him, but as he didn't know their normal scents, nor whether or not the shapeshifters could mimic scents exactly, it was hard to know for sure.
Times are looking grim these days~

Dora's gray eyes flicked over him one last time.

"New here, are you? Welcome to Bielefeld. You're in an apartment building filled with people of all shapes and sizes. As for what's going on, I'm not quite sure myself. There was an explosion, stone dust, and then we were all told to leave the dining room. Just another day in the life, really."

She let her chin rest on her knees again. "Wouldn't happen to have a cigarette, would you? I could use one. Having that big wolf there doesn't really help."

"Sorry, My species doesn't usually use cigarettes" Ki said as he contemplated the situation, looking around at all of the people gathered around, wondering why she had mentioned the ponies separately "Ponies? What are those?"

He still wasn't quite sure about this situation, he wanted to know more. He focused his attention back to her.

"Is there anyone here who I could ask more about this place?" He asked curiously.

"What are you? You're clearly not from around here."

Dora changed mental gears. He (she? it?) knew what cigarettes were, but not ponies. "And I've been here almost the longest. There's one other, but she's injured and rather jumpy under pressure." She nodded in Tora's direction.

Ki put a hand up to his chin and flexed his claw a bit a he thought how to answer that. "What am I? That's a rather broad question. I'm from another planet, I left because of..." his face twisted a bit as he thought how to phrase it " Political differences. I'm not welcome back"

He told the truth, leaving out a lot of unneeded details, he hoped his honesty would pay off with some trust.

"I'm sorry to hear about your friend" He said, hanging his head a bit.

The BranRiech wrote:"For fuck's sake, Rylli. You're my wife." Bran snarled, getting angry himself. Whatever made her act like this was really pissing him off. Even if this wasn't the woman he was currently married to, she was still his girlfriend, he guessed. "Put the gun down, Rylli." He said. "If I'm one of the Drones, it won't even hurt me, but if you shoot me and kill me, how would you feel, how would Rachelle feel?"

This was definitely the Rylli from the original timeline or something of the sort, but what had occurred after they abandoned that timeline that ended up with this?

Rylli shook her head at him. The truth of the matter was, if he had been a Drone, he'd know the bullets would indeed hurt him. The Resistance was alive and well and spinning tech in back alleys and underground bunkers. She lowered the weapon but continued to regard him with suspicion. "Why should I believe a word you say? You never even once proposed to me. I'm not your wife."

She was exhausted and starving. How long ago had she eaten anything that wasn't a ration? For a fleeting moment, Rylli considered this place to be either salvation or Hell. One of the other, but either would give her respite for a few hours. She nudged that thought away. Rachelle needed her. She had to get back. The problem was that Bran and the reception desk were standing between her and the front door.

Todesfall, satisfied that those assembled in the hall were exactly what they claimed to be, dissolved the barriers at either end of the hall. "Move along, then. The kitchen's closed." He waved his hand at them and nodded at Leroy and Wolfgang to allow them to pass.

The cultist approached the door and peered into the gloom. "Anyone still in there? I'm sealing the door. You can stay there and be dinner for all I care."

Deuce didn't have to be told twice. He fought his way through a few more shifters (technically, the cowards scattered to avoid being hit) and stumbled upon Hans. The pair routed those surrounding Kei.

"We should leave, god girly," the Astartes suggested. "Don't want to be in here."

Hans barked at Rudolf to motivate him towards the door.

Dora laughed outright at that. "My friend? Not half! We've had our tangles back and forth. But she is the sister of an ex, so I try to look out for her."

The ex-Conservator pushed off the wall and climbed to her feet. "Come on, bug man. I'll introduce you all later, maybe. For now, there might be a fight on our hands. You don't mind getting them dirty, do you?" She took a couple steps toward Chrys and Dan, waving Ki to follow her. "Meet my Sister Chrys and our friend Dan."

Chrys closed her eyes tight, letting the blood-fervor drain away. She was silent for a minute; disappointment was the least of her feelings right then. The sword seemed to hang lower in its sheath than normal. An impossibility, of course, as it was neither sentient nor animate.

Dora, noting her Sister's perturbation, nodded casually at Dan. "Don't worry, she's not mad at you, just frustrated. She'll get over it pretty quick, cheerful as she ever is." The redhead, still sitting against the wall bouncing her leg up and down restlessly, turned her head slowly to regard Raka.

"Mate, there's no window...and if I were you, I'd be more worried about the giant wolf hanging out over there, next to the guy with the sniper rifle." She glanced from Todesfall, Leroy, and Wolfgang to Ray, Albert, and Jacob. "At least the humanoid cats and fox are friendly, most of the time," she drawled. "Not to mention our resident Fae over here." Another nod in Dan's direction. "He's one of my favorite residents, even though we haven't talked much. The bug creature" - here she gestured to Ki - "I haven't met before." She squinted, looking him up and down.

"I do apologize," Dan said anyway to Chrys, "I reacted in haste... that shifter looked hauntingly accurate, almost as though that would have been me if I were part of Winter," he shivered visibly at the memory of it, "I did not want to find out what it could do if we had to confront it." Turning to smile at Dora, "Thank you Dora, that's very kind of you. Perhaps after this we can talk a little more, without the shifters and that brown giant," he almost chuckled but stopped short as remembered the Klingon was in there, and so was Hans and Rudolf and the Fae's features turned more apologetic, "I hope Hans is okay, he was with us and so was Rudolf. Should we go back in?"

"Talking would be great. Doing it over a drink or two would be even better," Dora drawled.

Chrys, meanwhile, held her hand upright for a couple of seconds, then dropped it back down to her side. "That's all right, Dan. I am going back in for sure. The rest of you all - I can't tell you or Dora what to do. You're family. And Dora's bug friend - Ki" - she corrected herself after Dora signed his name - "maybe sit back and enjoy? This won't take long."

Her green eyes shone with a hard light and she turned and pushed open the door.

Mezran grumbled at the thought of retreat. Call it any way one preferred it, 'get out', 'move out,' 'run,'. To Klingons it was retreating and that went against Mezran's entire existence. His people won battles or died honorably in attempt, and never had they had to swallow defeat without humiliating their enemies first or making them pay dearly before conceding. Much of their losses came from such single-minded thinking; particularly in the Empire's last war. It was a human, the Klingon captain recalled, that once said it wasn't "retreating" so much as it was "advancing in the opposite direction". He wondered if there perhaps was a greater plan to containing these shifters and so the Klingon obliged to obey. Mezran let his last swing take out a few more tribbles before spitting at it, mumbling curses under his breath while he made his way backward in slow retreat to the hallway slowly. With Rudolf close to him, there was no worry about exposed flanks or deceptive creatures to ensnare them, at least Mezran felt with some surety of it. He would rather they did do something underhanded because this simply was worse: it was slipping away from battle.

"I will return, you filthy yIntagh! And I will finish what you've started! By Kahless himself, I will dance upon your dead body and feast upon you!" He promised and spat on the ground, turning his back against from the darkened room, shoving his way through the dining hall doors in sure steps. "This is not over," he said menacingly toward Rudolf, though the aggravation was clearly not intended toward the man.

"Uh, yeah. We did, Rylli." Bran said, shocked that this 'Rylli' must have been from the drone invasion even before their trip to the island where they got married, hell, he even proposed to her there, so if this was before that, she wouldn't have any idea. "Uh, well listen, was there talks of a vacation to an island before the Drones attacked? This would have been around October I think."

He was getting calm now that there wasn't an old revolver pointed at his face, but his voice still wavered with a slight fear. He left his gun back home, and usually never carried one anyways.

--

"Welcome sight!" Kei shouted over the din of voices. She watched as the rest of the Shapeshifters ran off. She nodded at Deuce, and started making her way towards the door, trying to get out. "I'll be gone." She waved back, assuming Deuce would follow her out, seeing she was probably the last person in the building or something.

Torsiedelle wrote:"Yea, I need help. It hurts bad.", The younger girl nodded quickly. "I just...I hate needles. I don't like needles. They just...they freak me out. I don't if anyone else knows healing stuff besides my friend though, and I don't see her anywhere."

This was bad. Sure, the medicine would help, but Torii was terrified of needles. She wouldn't even use it on her arm right now, which was saying something. It was better for her to take her mind off of it, and see what was up. "Hey, never mind my arm.", She told Flint. "Let's ask and find out what's happening here. Why were there shape shifters in our apartment building, at our party?"

"Hmmm.....hey Torii, what's that over there?"Flint asked as she skillfully took back the painkiller. When Torii would turn, Flint would stick the needle into her arm and let the solution be injected. It would have the opposite effect of morphine, making her heart rate rise for a short while. The sudden rush would clear her vision and take the pain of her arm away. She would feel like she was on an adrenaline rush for a few short seconds until she calmed down, but the pain in her arm would be taken away. There would be no 'loopy' side-effects to the drug, which was why it was so favored in the Zone. It allowed one to still keep and unclouded mind and thought process while under it's effects, which saved many lives during little skirmishes.

Flint's plan worked, actually. Nobody had ever used that trick on Tora, and she seriously thought that something must have been behind her. She grunted and turned around to see what was going on that Flint wanted her to see, and now Flint had a perfect chance to stick the needle into her swollen elbow joint. Tora trusted that she wouldn't actually force the needle on her.

Flint flashed a quick evil smile as she sat Torii turn. There was a slight gleam in her eye as she put the needle into the girl's arm and injected the solution. She'd barely feel a thing in her arm in no time. She felt a bit bad for having to trick the girl, but she really had no reason to be mad at her since it was all for a good purpose. "And there you go. All done. That was not so bad now was it, da?" Her evil expression turned face-heel into a genuinely happy one. "I think is best to find out where to go next from others. We should go."

Kale waved at Deuce. "Stay safe!" she shouted at the window. She lowered her hands and turn to the other people on the van. One was a woman which gave her a weird feeling, the other was a man with a metal arm. Without a second thought she smiled. "Hi! My name is Kale!" she said, despite the awkward situation. This was not normally the time nor place to get to know people. But that did not cross Kale's mind.

When he was instructed, Leroy had lowered his weapons. He still looked like he was ready to shoot any threat, but less like he was going to shoot anything that moved. He stood there watching everyone carefully, his gun still held at his side. "You can go," He said to anyone waiting in the hall. But that was it. No word of apology for pointing guns at them, no explanation, nothing.

Wolfgang was much happier then Leroy was about it being determined that it was safe for people to go. He wagged his tail and let his tongue loll out, walking over to the group who had been kept waiting. He wagged his tail at them, and simply stood there, tongue lolling out and tail wagging happily.

The feeling of a cold needle being stuck into her arm sent Tora into a panic, and she screamed out as it punctured her skin. She was actually just about to swing at Flint instinctively, but her right arm went numb...fast! Not only that, bit she felt really good, and her arm didn't hurt anymore. Maybe Flint was right...

She giggled a bit after that thought. Just a second earlier, she was terrified, but that was funny. She had no bad feeling towards Flint now, and she even smiled back. "Yea, let's go ask...oh, by the way, where is Yuna? My little friend with the black skin?"

"Oh? Yuna? I...I did not see her...maybe she is with others? Come, let's go find them." Flint stood up and started to walk towards the lobby, hoping to bump into someone along the way. Things were bad, at least that's what she thought. Shape-shifters? Must be like some kind of mutant thing. She had heard many stories about what it's like to be under the influence of a Controller, or what happens after you get hit by the Brain Scorcher of an emission. They gave her chills.

"N-no, not that way.", Torii insisted. "Yuna would still be here in the halls, if not out a window or some place. I think I remember she was with some cultists every now and then?"

She was looking around. There was Dora...though Tora felt that they had an awkward relationship... there was a ...was that some Star Trek guy? Then there was....

She shook her head. They were all busy, but she knew they probably should stay in the hallway. It would be strange to just walk away after an attack. She rubbed her swollen arm and looked back to Flint for the next course of action.

Thriller nodded at the quote his son said. "Ey, that we did son, that we did. Though with unwanted loses, but that shouldn't matter now. Daddy has some work he needs to get done back on Gliese. And I promise, I will bring back a gift for you and Sydney, one that you both will love very much." Thriller braced his arm on his leg and used it to push himself up on his two feet again.

Siduer giggled and fell back on the bed. The only thing better than winning something was being told you'd get a gift you'd totally love. He was glad Sydney was still asleep because she'd probably ask for something stupid, like a llama.

"Llama, llama, llama," he sung under his breath and then turned his head to grin at his father. "Okay, Daddy. But hurry back soon, 'cause you're missing out on good stuff like birthdays."

Ah, technically the twins' birthday was on March 1st but their handler had quite forgotten it. So, this is just a clever reminder to Thriller's handler that he has until the 29th of April... which is after AIT graduation on the 18th and grants him ten days at home to "get the lead out", so to speak. Honestly, man, it's not as if ol' Charumati is expecting chocolates and a diamond. I mean, hey, she's dead. She's not expecting anything. Well, perhaps something, but certainly not anything to do with diamonds or chocolates. Rather, let's just leave it as her handler hopes to accomplish something chatted about before the 28th in order to make the 29th more interesting for all parties involved. Charumati's handler, however, would like chocolates... preferably those chewy caramel ones that are wrapped in milk chocolate and then further wrapped in gold foil. That is, if Thriller's handler hasn't eaten them all out of stress and boredom. Perhaps Charumati's handler should send him a bag instead? She's not actually allowed to eat chocolate, according to her endocrinologist. And thus this pointless ramble comes to end with one parting gift.

Ahem.

"Okay, Daddy. But hurry back soon," Siduer grinned at his father. The boy snuggled back into his pillow and closed his eyes.

Thriller brushed his hand through his son's hair and quietly laughed, "Okay, Siduer, I will. I promise." With that he grabbed the rings off the nightstand and headed towards the door, as he exited he stood and the doorway and looked back his son. "Oh, Siduer." He quietly said, "Daddy loves you." He closed the door and headed off to get himself some new clothing and a few new weapons before heading off on his trip. A task that would take him a few hours (a.k.a tomorrow or Friday or Thursday).

Rudolf's grin revealed very white but very pointy teeth, the typical dentition of all cultists. "Wait until we determine if they have juveniles. If they do, we're all hurting. If they don't, well step back in this evening and hurt them. Eradication galore!"

Chrys swept by him and collided with Hans in the dark. (Technically, he put himself in her path as an excuse to make physical contact with her). Rudolf shrugged at the pair. His boot flattened a tribble that he would later swear was trying to bite him and then he returned his attention to the Klingon. "Up for a drink, Mezran, Son of Jag'oth? Alcohol. They have potent stuff at Chaos." (Todesfall clucked his tongue at them as they emerged into the hallway.)

Deuce pounded through a few more shapeless beings as he made a path for Kei. His arms plucked her from the ground and she was slung over his shoulder like a potato sack. "Time to go, god girly. Had my fill of shapeshifters and nonsense." The Astartes would rather be a high tower they'd bounce against than see the woman further attacked, although she herself was impressively tall. Call it 'Deuce humor'.

He set her down in the hallway outside the dining room. A quick salute was offered to Todesfall and then the brute made his way back to his apartment.

Todesfall breathed a relieved sigh and closed the dining room door as soon as Chrys and Hans strolled out.

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination.

Ah. He had been wrong about the period of young being unable to communicate. "You are welcome," he muttered back. He assumed that the mutter was the proper tone for the situation, as the foal had used it. He had heard that bad experience caused something called "dreams" to become "bad." He hoped that didn't happen.

Saren simply stared up at Mortimer again before smiling nervously. "Can you take me to papa? He's this big, furry black thing with a horn and no shirt." He said, describing Cerril in what little detail he could. He was probably going to cling to his father for the next few days until this event faded from his memory, but until then, he wasn't going anywhere.

"I don't know where he is right now." Mortimer wondered about some words of reassurance, but he could never get those right. He had no knack for being optimistic, and what started out as reassurance came out in a way that made things seem bleaker. He had not become acquainted with the larger pony yet, and had no idea of his capabilities.

Javert hadn't been much aware of the outside world, but the smell of another wolf--- a wolf brought him back. Javert managed to signal a warning not to come too much closer in broken canine. He wasn't very good at it, but spending one day every month as a wolf taught you something. Real wolves were frightening.

The Carlisle wrote:Kale waved at Deuce.

"Hello Kale. Spectacular jump. I'm Captain Blackwater." Minerva brushed aside a shock of red hair and shook the girl's hand. She was dressed neck to toes in tight leather with too many buckles. Tall and pale, she spoke with a British accent that could have come straight from a BBC commentator. "Let's get you onto the street, lovely. Giovenith and the others are there."

Minerva guided her towards the van's edge where a small service ladder gripped the side and offered a means down. The cultist leader opted to hop down rather than use it (not a big deal for her) and then smiled at those still gathered there.

"Right, it looks like the dining room and kitchen will be closed for a while. Everything else seems just fine. Report to the clinic if you're hurt otherwise enjoy your day. Cerril, I believe you'll find your son in the care of Death. Don't take it so hard. He's a resident here. Nice fellow from what I hear. Can't miss him. Upstairs in the hallway. Coming, Jorgen?" She peered up at the steam-driven cyborg.

Saren frowned and crossed his front legs, as if he was pouting. "I need to tie myself to him so he never goes missing on me again." He said with an annoyed expression. He decided the best course of action was to start yelling "PAPA!" at the top of his lungs until he got a response.

Meanwhile, outside... Cerril heard his son yelling again, and, seeing as most things had calmed down, headed back inside. He wandered around for a few minutes, following the source of the yelling until he had found Mortimer and Saren. Cerril was a tall fellow, and not of the equine persuasion, although his facial features did resemble one. He sighed in relief and looked at Mortimer, smiling. "I presume you're the one who got him out of that situation, correct?"
