She'd already began walking towards his office area to examine the fax machine.

"Alright, it's in the office, right over there. Don't mess with anything, nah, just ask if anything interests you." Bran said, giving her free reign of the office as he glided ahead of her to open the door for her. Ladies first, he was raised.

"Tomorrow sounds good, I could deliver it to them too if that works as well, but whatever."

"I love you, too." Monique's smile widened and she squeezed Fortu's hand. "I honestly think we can survive anything as long as we have each other."

They'd survived a lot already. Crazy island times, invasions, the trip to Vegas with the strange fellow who kept trying to kill them, Gretta... all in all, it had been a good run so far. It could only get better with each passing day.

"Well, Mr. Davenport, we need to get an apartment, and we need to figure out our cover stories, and perhaps get everything set up in time to invite Neil and Gretta over for a holiday party."

"Okay, so we are newlyweds that just moved to Bielefeld from the Hamptons. I'm an accountant that got a job offer here, that way I can maintain the company a bit more covertly. Did you say you wanted to be a schoolteacher? I think I can fake our credentials, it won't be hard." Fortu reviewed, not adding much from their earlier conversation.

He tried to think of something new to add, but found it a challenge to fabricate entire histories. It was not something he thought of often. But then again, as one of the few Raptor thoughts popped up in his mind, the best lies were often simple ones, one just needed to be charming and look the part. It was something he'd seen Arthur was quite good at, but was a bit uncomfortable doing himself.

"Alright," Xanthe said. "The best place to start is to knock on his door. Come on, follow me."

She lead Lucius down the stairs to the Chaos Quarters. Thankfully, Fram had long since departed.

Swith felt a twinge. She briefly wondered if Levi had been thoughtful enough to bury him next to his parents. She waved away those memories as well.

"We can pull some of my cultists to look into his assassination, if you'd like," Swith offered. "We shouldn't change time. Doing so is a bad idea. Instead, they can lie in wait to see what happens. If the assassin vanished afterwards, they can track him and pick him up when the time is right. It's a start. But now, if neither of you mind, I'd... I'd like to visit Cornelius. At least to see if his soul made it safely."

She closed her eyes and bowed her head, and attempted to stave off her sorrow again.

As they walked he took another look at the scroll and mumbled something at it.

"You mean visit his grave or visit heaven? I can take you to his grave, but heaven you have to do yourself."

Cerillium wrote:The observatory always had someone manning the front doors. Although it was getting late in the evening, the door opened to allow Barox and the children to enter.

"Greetings, Brother Barox," said the Tech Priest who ushered them in. "Come in, come in! Welcome home!"

He called to a few companions to bring warm towels for the trio. It had been pouring all day outside.

He made no mention of Barox's condition; it wasn't his business to pry. Instead, he smiled at the man and asked, "Will you need an extra room for these children? Surely they're hungry as well? You're just in time for evening meal."

"A shared room for them will be nice for now. And they ate on the way here, but you are more then welcome to feed them again. Say, is Wren here?"

The young boy looked at the tech priest. "Augmentations?" He asked as he observed him.

Came from sitting in a trench with a Son of Conquest, a private grade III, and a Shock trooper. Thriller was there too, recorded the whole event."

Misaki examined the fax machine and located the Allspice label. She clucked her tongue.

"I think the tech priests should take a look at this as well. I suppose you could bring both to them, if it works better for you," she advised Bran as she sat down in a chair. She pulled out her phone and began searching for general information about the company.

"Accountant is good," Monique nodded her head. "The moment you say anything with science, they'll become overly curious perhaps? What about lawyer? Do you know anything about practicing law?"

She sipped her tea and gave her own cover some thought. "You know, what if Gretta asks me a child-related question? I've never had one. I've seen them. They're cute, I suppose, in a mammal sort of way. Large eyes, snotty faces. What about event planner or wedding coordinator? Perhaps I could help Gretta better plan her parties?"

It was just a thought, but Monique was suddenly finding herself on the horizon of so many opportunities.

"Well, I suppose it was fun to exterminate the damn thing, pretty sure we got all of it within an hour or so, although it took us much longer to find out how to kill it." Natiya snorted. "I got banged up pretty bad when we found out it could spit fire." She chuckled, a bit less humorous though. Natiya had had so many bad experiences with fire.

"Yeah, can get both of them into the back of a truck, or I'll make two trips to be safe. Don't want to wreck either one of them, eh?" Bran asked. "Say, what's this all about anyways? Is it about the salesman? He seemed like a nice guy at least."

"What are you asking it now?" Xanthe asked, genuinely curious. She attempted to peer at the surface of the scroll. She had a few questions she wanted to ask it as well, but most of those answers could also be gained by simply asking the person. For example, she always wanted to ask Klaus why he loathed Blythe so much, but she was afraid of opening up old wounds.

Swith shook her head. "I won't visit his grace until it's time to restore him. Graves hold nothing but the shell. I can animate the body but to what end? Without a soul, it's nothing but a body. There's no mind, no part of him."

She shrugged. "I was going to stop by Purgatory and see where he went. I haven't been in a week. Every time I go, I run into some dead Resident. It was poor Ray the last time. Killed by a falling horse. At least Yoshi quit kicking the bucket."

The young boy looked at the tech priest. "Augmentations?" He asked as he observed him.

The tech-priest bobbed his head. "Of course we'll feed them again. A nice bowl of warm soup would do them good. We can put them down the hall from you. Are they your children? They're very polite."

He smiled at the young boy. "Yes, augmentations. It's our way of life. Our religion." He extended a serpentine Mechadendrite to show the child. A friendly light glowed from the very tip. "You'll learn all about them if you remain with us a while."

The tech-priest coughed and added, "We won't try to convert them," for Barox's benefit. "And let me summon Wren. She might still be at work. Such long hours!"

Misaki giggled. "You could just put the fax machine in the truck cab. But no, the more I think about it... if there is a tracking device on the forklift, it wouldn't do to move it. That would just alert this Allspice company. It's better to not do so."

The little cultist weighed her words and chose the ones that might sound best. "The Cuban who gave these to you is now dead. We're curious about the company he represents. I can't tell you much else about it. You're the first person I've talked to. Can you recall your conversation with him?"

"Yeah, it's gone, and I'm fine now. Perfect, I'd say." Natiya giggled a bit. "You would have had fun doing that. Oh! Hey, we gotta' get out and celebrate your return, man. We could plan a dinner date to Chaos or something, invite some people along?"

--

"Well the door's open anytime, and my cell number is on the door, so if you guys need me down here, just let me know."

The next part of the conversation took a darker turn. He didn't even know that the guy was dead. "It wasn't much of a conversation, I suppose. I asked him about Cuba and communism, and he seemed a bit reluctant to talk about it. He left after that. Other than that, seemed cheerful enough, like he loved his job. I'm sorry that he's dead, but that's all I know."

"A random question off the top of my head like, is there such things as a dumb question." Lucius answered with a straight face.

--

"Well I don't think he would be in purgatory. After what happened when that death took his life prematurely, he was given an all access pass to Heaven. I know, I was there."

--

"You mean like how that the metallic mixtures you use, the springs, cogs, breathing apparatus, and pistons used to properly function and maintain the needs of the human anatomy?"

Barox looked at the boy then at the priest. "He... he is a unique one. Datus is his name. The shark girl, well I forgot. I am watching over them til Dr. Smith returns."

--

"Sure thing, but I don't know who though. Got some people in mind?" Aleki asked as he took another bite of his sandwich.

"Probably our friends, anyone you want. My brother could be dragged along too, although he'd end up bringing his whole family along. Oh, forgot if you knew, but they had their kid recently." Natiya smiled, deciding to fill Aleki in on the stuff he'd missed.

--

"Of course, thank you, Misaki, now I suppose it's a bit late, and rainy, but I might stop at Chaos for a bite to eat, could always join me if you like." Bran said. He honestly didn't know too much about the Allspice guy, and generally confused them for the funny deodorant commercials on TV, but he had told Misaki genuinely all he knew. "I think Kei might have, I've seen her with a Mac computer. She'd never use the damn thing unless it was a gift."

His eyes turned to the little girl. "And you? Do you wish to share things?" he asked kindly.

"Yea, Superbia asked that once and it gave him a fortune cookie answer; Vague as can be."

--

Levi looked at the kids and smiled before looking back up at Swith. "So not even a.. Alright then, no worries." He gave both the kids a pat on their heads. "Well I have go back to my room and unpack a bit. We left you that shoulder bag, purse thing.. It, plus contexts inside are yours." He slowly walked to the door. By the time his hand reached that door handle he looked back and added, "If you ever want to talk please visit me, I am possibly doing nothing." He then walked out to his room. Sapphire, who cried herself to sleep, was curled up on the couch hugging a pillow.

--

The little girl shyly hid behind Barox. He looked back at her then at the tech priest. "Don't think she does. From what I learned that she is half shark, half human. Datus is a special case where he was born and raised in a growth test tube and was "fed" information that way. Parents had him genetically perfect in a way. Hell he could possibly build a weapon that could fluctuate magnetic fields or possibly cure AIDS for all I know."

The boy then added, "I could possibly try and create an add on that better adds precision to work, or maybe an augmentation that adds a file of instructions on how to build special equipment, like a Gauss rifle, or a shield capable of handling plasma shots or even lasers, or maybe even make a gauntlet that can act as a "Swiss Knife" in the sense that it can do multiple tasks without the usage of space."

"A new kid? Like who, what is their name?" He asked, sounding a bit interested.

"Makes some degree of sense, I suppose," admitted Willow. Kind of like he could easily walk the dirt roads or swim across a lake, but he normally flew.

"As for the tiiiiime... hmm," Giovenith turned a few circles, searching for a clock as well. "... Don't know. Doesn't matter much, though, I suppose. I don't have much of set schedule, myself. Not really, though. I myself might have to run off soon for activities."

"Hmm.... Well, that sounds nice. It would give me plenty of time to read and relax. Hey, does this place have a library, by the way? I have not seen one yet. then again, I haven't really wandered around myself, yet..... I probably should do that, too. To meet other ponies(people) and to see what we can do in the building and stuff. I have only met you, that strange man earlier, Cerril.... And I think that's it, actually. I really should meet other ponies(people), I think. How many ponies(people) do you think live in this building?

"Oh, and what can you do in the building, by the way? Is there a Library? A place to eat? A lounge? Um.... Anything else that may be interesting? I really do wish to know what I can possibly do here when I have down time and such. While I love reading, I think being cooped up in my apartment every day would be sort of stupid..." Sterling blinked, and realized he had basically been talking nonstop for a few minutes.

"Oh, sorry about that. Willow might have told you that I tend to start talking and have a monologue often, before I realize how much I've actually spoken. Sorry about that, again." Sterling chuckled nervously, and tapped the floor a bit. He didn't really like how he always seemed to be doing that, especially recently. His mouth just couldn't seem to stop talking when it started sometimes.

Albert was working in the VR room still, as he had been doing for basically the last few days without many breaks, except to sleep and eat on occasion. But still, that wasn't all that often that he did that. HE'd only had about three meals since starting a few days ago, actually. It wouldn't be completely false to say he he was a bit obsessed with working on the new communal room he was designing. It was taking him quite a while to get things together to prepare to start actually putting the electronics and holographic parts into the room. Which was the main thing Albert had been working on so far, just getting it ready for putting the more sensitive components in.

The work on the VR room was taking quite a long time, but it was worth it in Albert's mind. He'd be able to practice his skills at fighting, both with guns and his own body, again. It would allow him and others to go through mock scenarios for combat situations that could come up, and to hone fighting skills. Albert was quite anxious to be able to do all of that, as he could possibly have some fun with Ray fighting without having to worry about consequences or actually dying. Or actually getting hurt in any sort of way by fighting things, seeing as the holograms would be just that. Holograms. Damn realistic ones though.

The room would also allow people to visit places that were much too far away to actually visit physically, too. Thus Bran and his family could always visit their homeland without leaving the building, and Albert could do the same. He could visit his home easily, and possibly show parts of it off without having to worry about traveling between universes and all that stuff. Plus, it could have opportunities for anyone who wanted to use it, as Albert was going to include some general scenarios that anyone could use, and most people could create their own relatively easily.

Albert sighed happily, and continued to work. "Probably should head out to get some food here soon. It is getting quite late, and I'm not quite sure if I've eaten anything yet today...." Albert mumbled to himself, looking around at the room, which had quite a few walls which had the drywall ripped off to make room for the holographic panels that Albert had ordered from his homeland, and that should arrive within the next day or two.

"Why yes, there is a library here! Where do you think I got these books from?" answered Giovenith with a winning smile.

Willow wasn't so sure that libraries that contained books about hunting poor innocent unicorns and glorifying psychotic megalomaniacs in the sky who started international wars over pieces of fruit were up Sterling's alleyway, but the pegasus kindly kept that thought to himself.

"We also have a swimming pool, a communal living room, this communal kitchen, all kinds of things!" enthused Giovenith, "It's gone through quite a few renovations, you see. I'm sure we could find a map to help you out somewhere if you'd want to look around."

"Sterling, I'd remind you about the spoken-of dangers..." Willow quickly stabbed in, ever mindful of such things.

He honestly didn't know too much about the Allspice guy, and generally confused them for the funny deodorant commercials on TV, but he had told Misaki genuinely all he knew. "I think Kei might have, I've seen her with a Mac computer. She'd never use the damn thing unless it was a gift."

"I will speak with Kei," Misaki bowed to acknowledge the invitation. "Will she be upset if I asked her to bring this device to your shop tomorrow morning?"

Miskai had a horrible feeling the device on the forklift was used to track the thing, and the fax machine would be a wonderful way to record data about Bran's business. A laptop in the hands of a supernatural? Allspice might be reading every last email Kei sent.

Fortu thought about everything about law he learned...
One year ago before the Secret UN World Court, after Neil and Gretta were busted trying to take over the world. Fortu was placed under house arrest for being an involuntary accessory to their crimes against the world. Neil and Gretta however.

"YOUR MAMMAL LAWS DO NOT APPLY TO US! F*** YOU UP THE A**, AND HAVE A NICE DAY!" Neil proclaimed as he flipped the table. Gretta produced a pair of jet-packs and the two flew straight into the ceiling, crashing into it before they were tazered around thirty-six times, causing them to fall to the floor. Shortly afterward they were sentenced to Lunar-Max. Fortu would have facepalmed, but he didn't have a body yet.

"So, have you chosen a human disguise? You can't go around like that." his probation officer asked as Neil and Gretta were dragged out of the courtroom.

And that is how Fortu got his first body, now back to the present.

"Nope, I don't know a thing about law in this universe, beyond basic rights. I think I can avoid saying anything about SCI-ence, see I can say it without shouting the word." Fortu replied, with a bit of his suppressed habits surfacing before he stuffed them deep down again. He paused to take a sip of tea before continuing.

"If I know them as well as I think I do, Gretta wouldn't ask for help, for anything...come to think of it, none of them do under any circumstances. I suppose its their ego and pride that is the cause. Although both event planner and wedding planner are good covers, easier to bluff your way through it than teacher." he agreed with a cheerful smile.

"His name is Tolya, he's their first biological child, so you're sort of an Uncle, except not by law or anything, I guess?" Natiya chuckled. "I've babysat more than a few times, and we might have him over whenever Bran and Rylli go out, you don't mind that, right? Rachelle might stay over as well." She explained, hoping he wouldn't mind.

--

If only Kei ever sent Emails, we might always wonder what they'd entail, but all they'd find was a bunch of kitten videos, as well as a sort of infatuation with Memes.

"Yeah, she shouldn't mind, I doubt she uses it much." He chuckled, grabbing his umbrella again in anticipation to head out.

"It seems to do that," Xanthe chuckled as she recalled the scroll's answer about the end. "Have you tested it by asking it something you already know the answer to? Ask it if I have a goat."

It seemed a perfectly reasonable thing. How "fortune cookie" could that be?

Swith watched Levi leave. Her brow furrowed. Sapphire was asleep but she would qualify as a sitter.

"You two, stay with Sapphire. No cooking, no portaling, no riding around on water bears, no nothing. Stay inside, stay out of that bag, and behave. If I find one thing out of place when I return, I'll send you both to live with Hans... forever. He'll eat you."

She said it lightly but there was a serious quality to her tone that made both twins nod their heads and return to their room to continue playing.

Swith stepped into the hall. "Levi! Wait up!"

--

The tech-priest smiled at the little girl. "Well, she'll be treated well here. We haven't anyone for her to play with unless she cares to visit the Residents. I believe there are a few children there. Let's get them settled into a room. And Datus, I'll take you up on that offer tomorrow. I wish to hear your ideas. In the meantime, we'll have a light supper brought. Wren should be along soon."

Levi stopped and turned around. "Yes, Swith, dear?"

"Alright then. Come along you two, lets get you eating." The two nodded and ran in.

She refreshed their tea just as the meals arrived. Did I forget to mention they ordered? They did. So there you have it!

"He was born only a few months ago, I think while you were still here. I forgot to tell you, so . . . Sorry." Natiya frowned humorously. "Well, I can take you to meet him sometime, just ask me whenever."

--

"She's alright, I don't know much about her, only worked for her for around a month or two, it's all a blur in my life, like nothing even happened." He shrugged, mostly because his User was too ashamed of that. "But I'd be glad to make the introductions for you."

He opened the door to the outside and opened an umbrella, allowing Misaki to go first once more, as she probably knew the city better than he did, even though he knew the route to Chaos, as well as the building.

"Sterling, I'd remind you about the spoken-of dangers..." Willow quickly stabbed in, ever mindful of such things.

"Great. I may check out said library later. I designed my own room like one, due to the fact I'd be a bit bored without my books, but it will be good to read up on this new world! Which floor is the library on, by the way?" Sterling remembered the odd books that Giovenith had shown him, but for the sake of getting to learn new things, he could tolerate the stranger stories and books from this realm. After all, not all their books could be about unicorn slaughter..... Could they?

Sterling then turned his attention to the other things they had both said. "Oh, that is a lot of things. I'd be interested in seeing this communal living room, especially! What does it have in it? Places to relax and talk to other residents? Because I would really enjoy a place like that, honestly. I love meeting new people!"

The unicorn nodded in acknowledgement to what Willow said, remembering the warnings about other residents possibly killing/eating them for fun and sport. But Sterling thought he could defend himself. After all, he had magic on his side!
