They would be able to hold much influence over the smaller tribes due to them outnumbering them. You wouldn't see Virginia (medium state in the US for all those who don't live in ze US or don't know much about it) fight the rest of the US. It would give in and do what the larger group wants. Now would be the almost perfect time for a hegemonic empire

Lets set a limit now, ok, ti avoid more arguments. Any ideas?
Id say a total of the size of Half of Estonia. You?

Well you can't put a limit on everyone and assume it to be true for them. I hate to bring up Egypt (because I'm them) but look how 'big' they were. They streched down the entire Nile river. Granted it was only along it that they were, it's still quite large. Places in Mesopotamia and the Middle East will be much larger for say than the nations in Europe due to the technology they will poses (unless we decide to be like, "yup, someone else made the wheel half way across the globe so I might as well make it here").

Good point, lets allow tribal states with more fertile land to become larger than other tribal states.

While this does give a disadvantage, it does make sense.
Where must we go, we who wander this wasteland, in search for our better selves?
In Egypt's sandy silence, all alone,
Stands a gigantic Leg, which far off throws
The only shadow that the Desert knows:—
"I am great OZYMANDIAS," saith the stone,
"The King of Kings; this mighty City shows
"The wonders of my hand." The City's gone,
Nought but the Leg remaining to disclose
The site of this forgotten Babylon.

We wonder, and some Hunter may express
Wonder like ours, when thro' the wilderness
Where London stood, holding the Wolf in chace,
He meets some fragment huge, and stops to guess
What powerful but unrecorded race
Once dwelt in that annihilated place.

Be wary, young Tribea, that the OOC Wars are just starting, for as long as there is an OOC, there shall be a disagreement that is associated with it. :P

So essentially the Middle East (river valleys and such), Ukraine, Chinese river valleys and such, and México/Tropical Americas?

The Indus, can't forget that. Possibly the oldest civilization originated in India. Probably places such as Seville, The Area around the Tiber, etc.

My main problem with your assumptions is your math, frankly. Population growth defined by a percentage is always exponential. It cannot be anything but, as what that percentage represents is constantly increasing in, you guessed it, an exponential manner.

As for Memphis, that city was only founded in a thousand years from the present date, and conservative estimates put it's population at 6000. I don't mind a bit of fudging, but frankly the world population, even in cradles of civilization, didn't grow 266%.

I could see 50%, as 40% growth was average. And I acknowledge that that figure did include nomads, but as I discussed earlier, neither nomads nor agrarians somehow magically reproduce faster. The only difference is their population density, frankly, and I doubt the nomadic tribes of 4000 BCE were starting to hit their carrying capacity, which is the only thing that would dent their growth rate.

1. Dude, it's 4,000 BCE and at 6,000 BCE my population was 2,000.... that's a bit more than a thousand years.....
2. From 2,000 to 15,000 is actually 650% growth if that makes you feel better xD.
3. Egypt didn't have nomadic tribes. Egypts had cultivated communities living off the regularly, schedule floods of the nile with agriculture as well as hunting due to the "Humid Period"
4. Let's not forget immigration. If a village is getting wealthier, more people will move in.
5. What equation are you using? I'm using P=P*e^(rt)
6. I still want to know why you are calling my city, with a population below what it was IRL, unrealistic?
7. And no, extrapolating data makes it unreliable as population growth isn't constant and can change over time due to a variety of factors.

Yes, back then the Sahara was a giant grassland, or plains, whichever applies.

I wanted to say when I discovered Africa that we found a massive expanse of semi-desert, like the Great Plains in the US and Canadia.
