That just means Germany gave up before the allies broke the stalemate. Also, the fact that the shells are both German and French does not change that they ended up there in the first place. What were the French gonna do, not use artillery? Ergo, your point is moot.
The French did not have to agree to the armistice remember so they could of just taken their time and waited for the Germans to break. All I was saying with artillery was that it is not relevant because the Germans were not the only reason for it being there so how can the French use that to justify the Versailles treaty when they also fired those shells
