That just means Germany gave up before the allies broke the stalemate. Also, the fact that the shells are both German and French does not change that they ended up there in the first place. What were the French gonna do, not use artillery? Ergo, your point is moot.

The French did not have to agree to the armistice remember so they could of just taken their time and waited for the Germans to break. All I was saying with artillery was that it is not relevant because the Germans were not the only reason for it being there so how can the French use that to justify the Versailles treaty when they also fired those shells

Lets see: take all of Germany's money and dignity now for nothing, or wait a little longer so more of your men can die in one of the worst conflicts in human history? I think I'd rather end it right then and there.

As for the shells, it's simple: the French wouldn't need to replace their pumpkins with shells in the first place if Germany hadn't crossed the damn border.

But you implicitly said "France didn't win". Well, France did win, and gained territory in the former Ottoman Empire, Alsace and Lorraine, and German Colonies in Africa.France did advance, in the Hundred Days Offensive, they forced the Germans past one of the greatest defensive lines in history, the Hindenbug Line, which I only second to the Mannerhiem Line. No matter how much it gets hyped up by both sides, it still repeled the Red Army for two months.

The armistice just stopped the fighting. The treaty is what took all their money

War was going to break out, it was simply who was going to make the first move and Austria Hungary did.

Really, the entire war was Austria Hungary's fault for using the killing if archduke Ferdinand to declare war on Serbia which dragged everyone else into war, but France and England still pin the entire thing on Germany.

The red army? What you talkin' bout?

Fast forward to WW2. Molotov-Ribbentrop Act gives the Soviet Union the right to invade Finland. And it does.
Brilliant Finnish commander Baron Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim orders the establishment of a defensive line on the Isthmus of Karelia to keep out the Soviets. The Soviets lost 320,000 men. The Finns lost 25,000.

Let me ask you what your definition of winning is? Did France really fit the definition. Yes they were on the victorious side of the war but would really say that they won with the losses they had of manpower, money and infrastructure
