History: Long ago, an ancient cult held power over many lands. Until cataclysm struck, as a great war began between opposing factions of the cult, forever more splitting them. One side was the Ecclesiarchy which taught acceptance and goodwill, and the Covenant, which taught vengeance and purging of non believers. As fate would have it, the Covenant won, but at a great cost. The remaining survivors and cultists were few, scattered across the lands. It would remain this way for hundreds of years, until recently. The Covenant is reuniting, readying themselves to bring the word of Melkor upon this earth, and purge all heretics in steel and fire.

Culture: The Covenant are heavily religious, constructing hundreds of monuments in the name of their god. Every step taken, every breathed breathed, and every second of your life is considered a gift from god, the almighty Melkor. The strict society of the Covenant is caste based, with the Sangheili, the prophets of the burning darkness holding most power, zealous in their beliefs. Beneath them, are the Jiralhanae, warriors and protectors of the faith. Next is the Mgalekgolo, the architects. It is they who oversee the construction of the Covenant cities, choosing where upon this earth shall become holy ground. After them are the Kig-Yar, the slavers of the Covenant. They are the ones who procure and sell slaves, effectively controlling the rest of the castes. At the very bottom is the Unggoy, the slave caste. They are treated as nonpersons, more as objects than people.

Many of the "tribesmen" start to dessert and some even start some infighting due to how they treated the other tribes.
Some of the peasants of Normandy start revolts due to the massive prices of goods...Swords are too impractical at this age due to it being too expensive to make, you sending an army that large will not only hamper your economy, but utterly destroy it at this timeline.
