Aona wrote:"Nate, dude, come on. Be reasonable." Vi pushed at her older brother's shoulder. "The best president by far was Rooselvelt."
Nate laughed. "You're full of it. Lincoln is so much better."
Vi scrunched her nose and pouted. "Whatever. Are we there yet?"
"Almost. We should be there soon." He placed his hand on the machete's hilt at his hip, scowling slightly at the silence. Nodding, Vi walked in silence for a while. Nervously, she started to pick at her thumb with her forefinger. She was suddenly interrupted by Nate's hand on her shoulder, bringing her in for a half-hug. She smiled and accepted the hug. They walked like this for some time, getting closer and closer to the school.
Approaching the gate to the school, Vi looked up in wonderment at the ornate entrance gate. "Wow. This is where Ty went to school?"
"Yeah. Pretty, isn't it?"
"Uh-huh."
He patted her on the head, "C'mon. Let's get moving."
Of planets wrote:Zac walked on down the street. The shotgun and sportsbag that held Zac's baseball bat were both slung over his left shoulder and his right hand buried in his tracksuit pocket. The alley was quiet and very few Zees were around. Zac had heard there were people in the school and he needed company. So Zac walked on down the street. Up to the walls where he yelled "Hello! Anyone there?" There was a gunshot in the distance, Zac could only hope the Zees liked that more than him

Aona wrote:As they rounded the corner, Vi and Nate were greeted by a woman pointing a gun to their heads.
"Oh shit-"
"What the fuck?!" Vi shouted, going for her pocketknife.
"Vi, put the knife down."
"Fuck you, I'm not putting-"
"Viridian. Put the knife down."
Glaring at Nate, Vi slowly dropped the knife to the ground.
"Now, look, ma'am," Nate said calmly. "We don't want any trouble. We're just here looking for a friend, that's all." He raised his hand in the air.
Of planets wrote:Zac saw a child poke his head over the wall. "Oh, hey there! My name's Zac, could you let me in?" Zac glanced around nervously for a Zee, coast was clear. Zac glanced for entrance, there probably was one.

Amberlin bit her lip as she listened to them. At least one of them she knew would be looking for a fight. That thought in itself was terrifying. However, the one she had the gun pointed at had some sense in his mind, which was good. She had no real intention of shooting them, but it was a good enough warning.
"Who?" She asked, working hard to steady her voice.

"His name is Tyler." Vi piped up, still some anger in her voice, though it was much calmer and timid. "Tyler Denton. He used to go to school here. Did...did you know him?"
Nate closed his eyes sadly. He was afraid to hear her response.

Amberlin's shoulders dropped, but she still halfway attempted to hold the gun up. She did know who they were talking about, very well in fact. His name had not been spoken in many days.
"Tyler..." She repeated, her voice slipping away from her. At thar moment her hand dropped to her side, and her finger slid off the trigger. "Tyler...Tyler died two weeks ago...I'm...I'm so sorry."

It was silent for a second. Then two. Vi's face had flushed over in sadness, tears welling up in her eyes. Nate kept his head low, showing no emotion.
"Tyler......" Vi muttered.
Looking up, Nate's face was stoic, though it looked like he was about to break into two. "O.....Okay, then." He stammered. "We're gone." He slowly started to turn around, fists clenched.

Amberlin took a heavy step forward, unable to bare the weight of hurting them so badly. This was worse than killing someone, it was killing them while they were still alive.
"I..." she choked back, holding back tears of her own. "I'd like to help you if that's at all possible." She asked, stepping closer to the gate once more.

"Help?" Nate asked, stopping. He turned to the woman, the tears suddenly gone. "How?"
Vi piped up. "D'you mean a place to stay? We can stay on watch, help scrounge for supplies.."

Amberlin set the safety on her gun and slipped it back in to the holster before reaching for her keys, also attached to the same belt. She couldn't believe she was doing this...but it seemed as if it had to be done. "Any help you can provide and we will provide it in return..." She said softly. "In a world like this, it is fitting that we do so."

Nate was speechless. He looked at Vi, who already seemed to be onboard. She gave him a look that said Well? What are you waiting for? Nate cleared his throat.
"Absolutely. Anyone who cared for Ty, we'll help out."

Amberlin nodded and bit her lip, still feeling the heavy guilt of letting another student die on her shoulders. She unlocked the gate and pulled it open slowly, making sure the large ornate structure would not creak. She let the two through before shutting it once more, this time locking it with a few extra locks which had been sitting there untouched since they last left the school. It was better to be safer now.

Bel ran to the gate, with Az in tow. "Wait! Let us in!"
Az grabbed the gate. "C'mon, Miss Lamont, you know me!"
