*facepalm* my bad, I read that as the land bridge never disappeared so I thought matchlocks and such would have flowed over the landbridge

No. I should set it in 1480 to have a few years of only native interaction and then the Mesoamericans and Taino find the white men.
The main idea is to be a native in this time.

That's okay. But they'd more likely have Chinese/Mongol tech in that case.
Still, I was reading about the natives of my state in the US and I'm very intrigued.

IMO, though, horses staying in the Americas would be well enough to propel most of the Americans to medieval tech levels by the time Europeans come around, and that'd be well enough to prevent any serious colonisation.

Nah, son. Britain was all like "yo, why my colonies be all uppity an' shit?!" And Lord Durham laid it straight: "they be wantin' legislation with representation, dawg."

Which would be pretty cool and give me a leg up as Russia cause no colonies for me.
But they could still colonize the Carib islands probably.
Mmm. I think that if you only had horses, though, the scenario would still work and be plausible, while also having to modify natural history less that way.Reatra wrote:Alleniana wrote:I'm not so sure about elephants and stuff; them just wandering through Siberia sounds a bit odd.![]()

Everything. Not that they were walking around Siberia, but they didn't go extinct (or not as much) as IRL. Giant bears, mastodons, camels, "cheetahs", etc. Especially Bison.
The point is that the Spanish would land in the Mainland and see all this crap and say "you know what, let's turn around."
Also, the Columbian exchange is lessened for natives as America had more recent access to diseases, and worsened for Europeans as these massive creatures, some of which were domesticated (horses, camels, llamas, etc.) gave the Maeticans diseases too. While it's most definitely not the smallpox-on-natives kind... It's something.
