Humans given enough time in it can see in pitch black. Crackbone's eyes can not only adapt quicker to darkness than a human but he can see better in darkness than a human. You're absolute darkness isn't so clever now is it?

Its also the same way night vision works.

Well if absolute darkness means no light than you wouldn't be able to see no matter how much time you were given. Though, this is a double edged sword because it is literally impossible for anything to see without light unless they can see without actual vision, like detecting motion or psychic bullshit.

Actually, the superpower wiki says "The user is able to create a field of absolute impenetrable darkness" which implies that creating a light source would do nothing. The only way to see is to have a way to see the extremely low amount of light allowed in the area, for example by using night vision.

The cops just need to get a full report about what happened as per normal protocol so they want to bring him into the station

I think it means it's relatively dark, as in there is so little light that to the naked eye it appears as though there is no light, but there actually is trace amounts of light in the area.
