Oh sure, you can try. Go on, send some troops in. See how many of them survive the first night with no experience in the behavior of the Zone.

The Zone is the most dangerous place in the world without going completely overboard like having Eldritch abominations and such because that's been done to death. At least you can survive in the Zone if you know how.
