Nat: Night's always in some bizarre state somewhere between "intoxicated enough to kill a hair metal lead singer" and "annoying Mormon missionary sober".
Swith: It's because you're so awesome. God himself refreshes the screen before he types just to see if Nightkill has written anything while he was off somewhere else.

Ah. That's inconvenient. I'm shit at understanding spoken English.
If it's helpful, 20% of the show ends up in Spanish in seasons three and four.
Regardless, best way to understand spoken English is to hear it. And Breaking Bad is far more interesting than whatever you likely use to study English in school.

My teacher made us watch foreign films and TV and just had us talk about cricket in English.

Yeah, that seems much more helpful. All we do here is go over sentence structures over and over and over again, when they could make people learn with less boring methods like I did. -Nods-

Nightkill the Emperor wrote:Breaking Bad did surprising wonders in helping along my Spanish.
Which I found a bit hilarious, considering that it means it was more helpful than living in a Latino neighbourhood.
But Latinos in the US speak a sort of butchered Spanglish, it appears.

A problem here (At least in my county) is that we start so late. The earliest you can take a foreign language is when you're 14, and that's only possible access to Spanish or French, unless English is a second language for you.Zarkenis Ultima wrote:

Same here. Well, there's a vocabulary aspect as well, but at higher levels it tends to veer away from practical things and goes into stuff like recycling and organizing community projects and crap.

We started at like eight. Not that it was terribly helpful, mind you.

Nightkill the Emperor wrote:Utah, perhaps unsurprisingly, actually has a very good foreign language program. I read an article which said the Utah government wanted every child in the state to know at least one foreign language, and they start off quite young with a vast variety of options. John Huntsman had headed this program when he was the governor there.
