Rome, the capital of the largest empire in the world at the time, ruling over 50 million people, at an age more primitive than the one we are RPing at right now, had a population of somewhere over a million.

If anyone else has built a bigger city though, feel free to update the wiki within reason (e.g. 600,000 population tribe builds a 2 mil city? no)

That's impossible; you are telling me you have nearly 25% o your population in two single cities?

That would be like China's capital having a population of 300 million, or the USA's largest city having 50 million. It can't work, especially not in these ages when approximately 8 people had to work as farmers to produce food for 1 person to do something else. I think that ratio might be a bit better considering all our development though.

Point is, until the middle ages, the only cities with over 1 million were a couple in China, Rome, and Constantinople; e.g. the greatest cities on earth, in the most populous countries, with the most trade, etc. etc. etc.

Indeed. My city only holds its weight because its in such a good position; surrounded entirely by some of the most fertile farmland in Europe, as well as some of the most diverse crops, not to mention a great big fracking river, and wealth from across the North Sea as well as other imports to keep it afloat.

With beginning of construction of the coastal defence system, the chief felt ready to come into contact with the world. With the one ship already sent in the direction of Asia, the grand chief commissioned an entire navy to sail off in search of different civilised peoples. This navy the "Rawhitiroan foreign legion" was split into three different devisions, with one sailing in the direction of Australia, one in the direction of Europe, and one in the direction of Asia. This massive fleet carried goods of all kinds ready to trade, as well as warships to defend the fleet. These ships would hopefully return home bearing gifts and knowledge by the ton.

The Impirren sighed. He didn't know what to do. The fleets couldn't get through the forces at Gibraltar. The Pillars of Heracules would no longer be under his control... WAIT! He had the Egyptians! And the Syrians! And the Macedonians and Grecians! He could call them up to put all of their navies together to break the blockade! It may not work though, the Canaans may have more ships than thought. But it was damn well worth a try. So he called up all of his allies and got together at the island of Crete. The combined force was a massive fleet, hopefully enough to defeat the largest single navy in the Sea.

And so they sailed, forward to the Pillars of Heracules. Ballistas on alert and marines ready to charge the enemy when the ships crashed. The flagships were the biggest, carrying multiple ballistas and trebuchets, full of unique weapons, such as barrels full of poisonous snakes and wasps to make the crew jump overboard, barrels of flaming oil to catch the ship and further scare the enemies. The Impirren doubted the Canaans though about that!
