Yeah, but, ya know... wars kind of make people lose knowledge of things (i.e steam power) so there were no Industrial Revolutions in 600...

THis RP could plausibly have steam powered up in the 600s, since there were no slaves to make mechanical labor easy, and no catastrophic fail that lost basjillions of wealth and knowledge.

There were slaves (I even referenced them in a few posts of mine, especially ones about the Suez Canal and the creation of Erhmanity), just not notable enough to really make an impact.

That's what I mean. Slaves weren't nearly as overhwlemingly common in our timeline.

Not really, Spain will bridge the cap between the two hemispheres( especially to Japan and Shacklefold) but the 1900s will be my favorite when there might be a three-prong war or maybe a handicap fight between two communist and a more democratic one.

Is it fine to say that some countries outlawed slavery before the 1800s during the colonial times?

I already did due to a civil altercation in the medieval ages, I think.

Yeah, though the wars seemed to start up a more often and with more BS reasons than what would have happened in real life...

But, they weren't as deadly.

As an example, there was no Roman Empire, no crusades, no Mongol conquests, no African slavery (at least not yet), and more.

ENner and Ardovicia both at various points raided African villages for slaves. Mainly Enner, who then sold them to Rylonia, who they raided also.

Neo, do you know of the Crazy AH RP?

Revolutionary War:

The Revolutionary War against Ardovicia began in 1775, on the eve of the annual collection of taxes by the Ardovician Fleet. For generations this act had prevented development and enraged the citizens of the colony. On this fateful day, however, the citizens had had enough. A harbour had been built in the city, so that the colonists could finally build ships to send freight around the World, and the Ardovicians had set fire to it. Just a few streets away, five men sat in a tavern, drinking and thinking up visions of an independent nation, using radical ideas of republicanism and basic human rights to justify their thoughts. A general, a captain, a statesman, a professor, and an old bartender would determine the course of the nation that night. The general was one Robert Corlish, an Ardovician General in command of a mere six thousand Ardovician soldiers, which in comparison to the twenty thousand in the colony he did not control was not a mighty sum, but with his tactical genius and strong central force, he could persuade and invade his way through the majority of the Ardovician leaders in the colony. The captain was one Jack Rudolphe, a commanding and stern fellow. He had led expeditions across the World for the Empire, and it was just poor luck he'd been born a colonist. His swagger was known around the colonies, and his leadership and wisdom would be unparalleled, he had been convinced to join the movement only moments previous and by the rare chance he stumbled into a tavern that night. While Captain Rudolphe was not as devoted to the cause, there was someone who made up for it. Wesley G. Marshington was the vice-governor of the colony to an aging, apathetic governor, who had quit working for a better colony long ago and prevented Marcus from carrying on the job. He had administrative experience, and he was essential to cause. The reason he had been convinced to join was based on the teachings of Professor William Jacobson, who had been promoting the cause of independence for years. The final player in the scheme was the bartender of the fair tavern, his name lost to history, all we know is that when the events happened later that night, he was the one who put his life on the line.

The events of that night would be recorded in history, and while fast in nature, they would lay the foundation for a nation. With the harbour on fire, the General led a few of his most loyal men to ransack the armouries, giving weapons to the civilians to lead a riot against the West End of the city, which was heavily defended. Meanwhile, the captain led whatever men he could to sieze control of Ardovician ships and turn them on their masters, elimating or capturing all of the Ardovician Fleet. Meanwhile, the battle inside the city raged, as forces of the General battles forces of the citadel. Many of the top government officials, fleeing the scene, went to the tavern for sanctuary. It was here the bartender makes history. When the drinks were served to these governors and leaders of the Ardovician leadership, something deadly was added. The soldiers with them saw the scene, but it was too late, colonial leadership had been halved in a since instance. The bartender was shot on spot, and the tale was only told be Marshington himself, who, dispite having no trained experience, led the citizens militia in the fighting. By morning, the Ardovicians Loyalists in the Citadel were finished, and they surrendered. Meanwhile, the majority of the Ardovician soldiers who had returned from the South conquering the Incas were met with information, and luckily the General was able to convince them to stand down, and the military victory was complete.

Over the next months, educated men from around the colony came to Nautica to discuss the ramifications of the new nation. Over this time they adapted a Declaration of Determination, a Bill of Rights for the citizens, a Constitution, and even a new name. These documents give birth to a new form of government using variations upon the Ardovicians, Oysterlonians, Raegendar, and the Latin Empires of old, which would form the United States of Equalibria. They also granted one third of the nations budget to permanently set to fund a system of education that would be free for all citizens of the nation, and gave rights to citizens who had never enjoyed anything of the kind. The Declaration of Determination was sent to Ardovicia, which in return sent a fleet to retake the colony. After a fierce naval struggle with the small squadron of captured vessels, Ardovicia landed forces on the colony, but the overwhelming amount of now-Equalibrian soldiers pushed the Ardovician soldiers back, and on the beach, with no way out, they surrendered. Relations between the United States and Ardovicia are still hostile, and it is unknown of what plans the Empire has to retake the colony.

Prominent City Locations:
Nautica (1589) Location of RL Maracaibo, intended to be an analog of New York irl. Largest City in the nation, major naval headquarters.
Silbern (1607) Location of RL Caracas, intended to be an analog of Boston irl. Major Naval Center, along with Nautica the city forms the main area of trading for the North Coast.
Tremius (1620) Location of RL Bogata, intended to be an analog of Pittsburgh irl. Major production center, access to the resources of the area spurs growth.
Darius (1674) Location of RL Georgetown, intended to be an analog of Baltimore irl. Developing naval center, beautiful climate, founded by merchants and is an up and coming port for new materials.
Fort Panium (1682) Location of RL Panama City, and intended to be an analog of Panama City irl. Currently a military outpost on the edge of Equalibrian controlled territory, keeping barbarians to the North out.
Nea Gyrium (1716) Location of RL Paramaribo, intended to be an analog of New Orleans irl. Currently a small settlement built by colonists from the ashes of Ostyrlonia, it has a culture not entirely Osytrlonian, not entirely Equalibrian.
Parague (1767) Location of RL delta on the Amazon River, intended to be an analog of Shanghai irl(except all Americanized), Currently a small outpost on the River Aor, as the Amazon is called, the city was built out of necessity for a place for developers and settlers to stop on their way down the mighty river.
Hollise (1789) Location of RL Manaus, and intended to be an IRL analog of pretty much Manaus, except it is a production powerhouse and a military stronghold.
Marshington D.I. (1789) Location of RL Quito, intended to be a (you guessed it!) Washington D.C. analog, A planned capital designed to give a safe haven for lawmakers of the nation to do their duty without threat of invasion.

Goals of the Nation: Expand and Fill out more territory, survive and develop a strong international economy.

Revolutionary War
The Revolutionary War against Ardovicia began in 1775, on the eve of the annual collection of taxes by the Ardvocian Fleet. For generations this act had prevented development and enraged the citizens of the colony. On this fateful day, however, the citizens had had enough. A harbor had been built in the city, so that the colonists could finally build ships to send frieght around the World, and the Ardovicians had set fire to it. Just a few streets away, five men sat in a tavern, drinking and thinking up visions of an independant nation, using radical ideas of republicanism and basic human rights to justify their thoughts. A general, a captain, a statesman, a professor, and an old bartender would determine the course of the nation that night. The general was one Robert Corlish, an Ardovician General in command of a mere six thousand Ardovician soldiers, which in comparison to the twenty thousand in the colony he did not control was not a mighty sum, but with his tacticle genius and strong central force, he could persuade and invade his way through the majority of the Ardovician leaders in the colony. He had administrative expierience, and he was essential to cause.

With the harbor on fire, the General led a few of his most loyal men to ransack the armouries, giving weapons to the civilians to lead a riot against the West End of the city, which was heavily defended. Meanwhile, the captain led whatever men he could to sieze control of Ardovician ships and turn them on their masters, elimating or capturing all of the Ardovician Fleet. Meanwhile, the battle inside the city raged, as forces of the General battles forces of the citadel. Many of the top government officals, fleeing the scene, went to the tavern for sanctuary. It was here the bartender makes history. When the drinks were served to these governors and leaders of the Ardovician leadership, something deadly was added. The soldiers with them saw the scene, but it was too late, colonial leadership had been halved in a since instance. The bartender was shot on spot, and the tale was only told be Marshington himself, who, dispite having no trained expierience, led the citizens militia in the fighting. By morning, the Ardovicians Loyalists in the Citadel were finished, and they surrendered. Meanwhile, the majority of the Ardovician soldiers who had returned from the South conquering the Incans were met with information, and luckily the General was able to concivince them to stand down, and the military victory was complete.

Over the next months, educated men from around the colony came to Nautica to discuss the ramifications of the new nation. Over this time they adapted a Declartion of Determination, a Bill of Rights for the citizens, a Constitution, and even a new name. These documents give birth to a new form of government using variations upon the Ardovicians, Oysterlonians, Raegendar, and the Latin Empires of old, which would form the United States of Equalibria. They also granted one third of the nations budget to permanantly set to fund a system of education that would be free for all citizens of the nation, and gave rights to citizens who had never enjoyed anything of the kind. The Declaration of Determination was sent to Ardovicia, which in return sent a fleet to retake the colony. After a fierce naval struggle with the small squadron of captured vessels, Ardovicia landed forces on the colony, but the overwhelming amount of now-Equalibrian soldiers pushed the soldiers back, and on the beach, with no way out, they surrendered. Relations between the United States and Ardovicia are still hostile, and it is unknown of what plans the Empire has to retake the colony.

Thoughts? Comments? Questions? I'm bored, let me hear 'em.

I was thinking rather that after the Hozidan Revolution, the new government of Hozida forgot to collect taxes for 5 years, and then sent a missive to them that they were free, and that Hozida, in its instability, had no interest of coming over there and forcing them to pay taxes, and that Hozida didn't give a shit and was letting them do whatever they wanted. And then badum, there ya go, a nation that's suddenly and unexpectedly free.

Also, Kraanariik, Hozida and Equalibria now speak Ardovician in one for or another!

I have an idea for this nation's first crisis.

Maybe I could attempt to invade and occupy it?

Well, the whole "fighting for freedom" thing is kinda at the core of the nation's drive..

How about the Revolution in Hozida takes places around the same time, and the new government of Hozida informs Equalibria that they are now free, and have no need to worry of future invasion? I mean, no harm, no foul, right?

When was it last that a shooting incident like this (or any other) actually made people legitimately search for answers or try a new approach? None that I can think of, It's been the same people, shouting the same expletives with the same people dying.

I hear they have good internet over in Scandinavia.

That seems like it wouldn't be fair to you, because you wouldn't really have a chance.

Well, it'd be like invading RL America, except with more mountains and militia(because they never had to fight, they just held onto their guns and waited to fend off natives), and that is before the professional army shows up and gets the whole home-field advantage thing.

But if you have an idea, lay it out there, it can't hurt!

It's cool, but I can't go and launch a counter-attack on Hozida just because of the logistics, so I feel ya bro.

(And Allen, there is no way I'd ever try something like that! :p )
