Videssos wrote:Character Name: Ophioneus Komnenos
Age: Around a thousand, or more, since the year is uncertain, being in a dystopian setting.
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Side(Supers Or government, I will limit the Government players, and they emotionless thanks to brainwashing): Himself, though he occasionally collaborates with supers.
Personality: He possesses a complex personality, but more often than not, however, he was often described as twisted, somewhat creepy, and sinister, by a large number of people, though there are always those who are drawn in by his charisma, an can be loyal and almost fanatical in the way they regard him, though he usually just uses them. It's speculated that this was due to the fact that two of his childhood friends died, one of an illness and a weak constitution, and the other in an accident, imply that Ophioneus grew to disdain the fragility of human life and how it affected those still living- as well as the deaths of some individuals he met over time, which led him to desire immortality, despite his true nature never quite being human to begin with. To that end, the primary purpose of Ophioneus's human experimentation is to test what modifications the human body can endure and harness a subject's unique abilities for himself. Once accomplishing this goal, Ophioneus has hopes to be worthy of the title of "ultimate being", unable to die and able to achieve his secondary goal to learn every spell and type of magic in the world, which would normally take many lifetimes to obtain.
Often known to be cruel, Ophioneus's agenda made him develop a god complex and valued himself while delighting in striking terror in his first impressions. Though causing conflict to ease his boredom, Ophioneus seems to have no interest in battles started by others. His charisma also attracts a number of followers, many of which he would not hesitate to send on potential suicide missions if for his own personal benefit, expressing some remorse if they're unable to properly complete a task, having no sentimental attachments to any of them despite their values. Despite this, Ophioneus has genuine interest in the development of his underlings and experiments.
An aspect of Ophioneus's personality is also his greatest weakness: his arrogance. He truly believes he is an invincible immortal at times, attacking recklessly against powerful opponents, despite not necessarily being informed as to their capabilities, and therefore not only underestimating them, but also possessing an additional factor that can contribute to his losing. Despite his distinct lack of morals, Ophioneus seems to be well-versed in human psychology and displays insightful wisdom when chastising the more ignorant in such things, including some who have a lack of understanding in such matters. He often shows disdain for those he believes are considerably weaker than him. He's also come to have a thing for death. Ophioneus has a dark and unusual sense of humour. At times his personality can vary; at some moments, mockingly polite, manipulative and deceitful, at another, seemingly honest and caring, and yet another, sadistic, bloodthirsty and ruthless. Despite his arrogance, he tends to be quite cunning.
His mind is a complex place indeed. At times. he can be brutal, impulsive, excessively-violent and possessing of a lethally-short temper. However, despite his aggression and obvious blood lust in battle, he possesses a feral cunning and has a knack for quickly exploiting any opening his opponent reveals. In addition, he can be blunt, sarcastic, and quite sadistic, revealing a psychotic grin or laughing maniacally whenever he becomes excited sometimes, or eerily silent, cold and disdainful at other times. He is also very rude and quite disrespectful at times, and mockingly polite, cunning and manipulative at others. He's often serious, yet at the same time disdainful of others, often laughing when opponents claim that they can defeat him. He possesses both a superiority complex and an inferiority complex. He usually considers most other people weaker, and beneath him. He treats them as you might expect, yet when he believes others to be stronger- a rare thing indeed, or they have proven themselves to be stronger, Ophioneus obsesses over them, wanting to become as strong as them, yet also seeming fanatical towards them, and perhaps as scared of them.
Powers: Snake Manipulation/summoning (that kinda thing), Snake/Hydra physiology (snake-monster thingy basically), Demon/Fallen Physiology, Supernatural Condition. Necromancy, Consciousness Transferral/Reincarnation (Possession). Dark Arts. Intelligence. Demonic Power Manipulation. Life-Force Merging. Flesh Masking/Shapeshifting. Curse Inducement (Cursed Seals). Reptile Manipulation. Element Sealing. Power Erasure. Mindscape Transportation. Energetic Pressure. Army Manipulation. Corruption Inducement. DNA Manipulation. (Through all of his dark experiments.) Psychological Intuition. Mutagen Empowerment. Supernatural Blood. Spatial Manipulation.
Not as much as it looks. He's a skilled swordsman, and not bad with a gun, either.
Drawbacks: Light energy, life energy, light magic, life magic (that kinda thing), holy stuff/magic/energy, insane, has delusions/hallucinations, etc. Too damn arrogant- so much so that it can bring what would otherwise be victories into defeats, potentially. Due to mental instability, can have problems in certain situations. Uh, weaknesses that snakes/demons might have.
Bio: Born in A.D. 1112, Ophioneus, who would sometimes shorten his name to Ophion, was a member of the legendary Komnenid dynasty that history never spoke of; the sixth son of John II Komnenos and Irene of Hungary. Unbeknownst to most, including even him, his father was part of a long line of nobles who had been secretly demons, though most of their line had long forgotten this, and their powers had been hidden for some time. This was due to a time long ago when their clan was exiled from hell, for reasons unknown. Though rumours suggest it was because their clan had betrayed the ruler of hell, and all their descendants were punished thus.
Quite early on, his talent in many areas was recognised by family and peers amongst the noble families that he maintained close contact with from a young age. He quickly became adept at things like swordsmanship and other weapons, and learned to ride with great skill from an early age. He became omni-lingual at a surprisingly fast rate. Unfortunately, as Ophioneus grew up, he was regarded as a threat to certain other nobles of power, courtesy of Byzantine politics. He showed an interest in certain things he kept fairly secret, of an occult nature. He also showed an aptitude for drawing and several different instruments. Despite his position, there were more uncomfortable parts of his childhood.
He was quite popular amongst the nobles, for his notable good looks among other reasons. Though at times he had it a little rough, perhaps because of that very reason. He quickly became entrenched in politics and scheming of a complex nature, as well as certain mystical cults that thrived in the underside of Byzantium. Ophioneus sometimes resorted to utilising dark magic to remove some of the more pesky adversaries he faced; though in the long run, this would end up creating more problems than solutions.
Under instructions by an individual who was a master of sorcery, he journeyed to a ruined fortress in what is now known as Kaljaja, or Prizren Fortress, in Prizren, Kosovo. He was informed there would be a reward in the form of a powerful artefact that would give him considerably more power than he already had, and would allow him to easily ascend to the throne of Basileia Romaion, or Byzantium. When venturing there, seemingly well-prepared for anything, he ventured into an abandoned tower in the fortress. There, was an intricately carved ancient safe; inside was an even older Sumerian cuneiform tablet. Ophioneus approached it, not knowing that the proximity of someone with sorcerous power was enough to activate it. The trapped spirit of a long-dead Sumerian sorcerer, known simply as Enmerkar of Eridu, forced its way into Ophioneus, surprising him. He resisted furiously as soon as he realized what was happening. Enmerkar had some control, but Ophioneus had given no more ground; turning it into a stalemate. This was also inadvertently the beginning of Ophioneus awakening his powers, as the truth was that he could have easily defeated Enmerkar had he known his true powers.
The way it worked was such that stray thoughts and memories also shifted into Ophioneus' perception, and in certain situations it would be more difficult than usual to maintain that grip, as admittedly, Enmerkar was not the sanest of individuals; most of the time, raving lunatic would be letting the dead mage off kindly. Nonetheless; there were some benefits. Enmerkar had been a powerful sorcerer in his time, and what he knew merged with the considerably smaller amount that Ophioneus, still in his early 20s, knew at the time. A month or two later, Ophioneus displayed an interest in methods of obtaining immortality, and scoured the library of Constantinople for certain books on the subject. He alao experimented for years on the population of various parts of the empire, secretly responsible for the disappearance and deaths of many as he experimented with magic, and searched for means to become immortal. Unfortunately, some shadowy individuals thought it would be a twist of irony if he awoke his powers, but for a price. During one of his searches through the enormous library, a group of lesser demons ambushed him. A few were killed by either his blade or his magic, but one closed in on him, attacking him, and inadvertently awakening his true form, before dying. Ophioneus knew what would happen, without Enmerkar babbling inanely in the back of his head. So, he quietly gathered his possessions, and made an excuse about leaving the empire to his family, saying that he would be away for a few months.
Meanwhile, certain individuals in his service quietly removed most written accounts of him from existence. Ophioneus was responsible for a number of massacres in a number of villages and small settlements, also of certain travelling caravans. This was during the first few transformations; when he had not got the hang of controlling them and his demonic thirst for slaughter was too strong. The spirit of Enmerkar, sometimes shouting in his head in Greek, or Sumerian; as the transfer of knowledge, memories and the like went both ways, didn't help much, as he often advocated bloodshed when there was no need. Sometimes Enmerkar even gained temporary control of Ophioneus's body, and to put it simply; bad stuff happened, as one might expect when an insane ancient Sumerian sorcerer manages to gain control of a a soul-hybridized seemingly Greek, demon. He kept on the move a lot, occasionally purchasing places in various parts of Europe as he made his way around. Questions would be asked, as after a few decades, he knew he would not age. Thus, people would inevitably get suspicious if he gave them the opportunity to do so. Occasionally, some heroes found him out and tried to kill him every few decades or so, and they got far closer than normal humans or hunters had before, so he fears them as much as he hates them. Some of them either escaped alive, or left him nearly dead, despite a decent amount of magic at his command, with some help in that department from Enmerkar. The participants in the forth crusade stirred a hatred towards the Catholic church, and the Venetians who had directed the crusaders to sack Constantinople. Many of the crusaders, and the Venetian doge himself were paid- fatally, for their actions. Many of the short-lived Latin Empire's enemies were aided in their endeavours and victories by Ophioneus. Indeed, it was he who helped restore the Nicaean Empire to the Byzantine Empire, in time. Naturally, over centuries, Ophioneus has loved, seen people die around him, and stuff like that. All of which helped impact him, and form the personality he has currently. Among other things, he believes that people he once knew could be reincarnated, and it's simply a matter of recognising them, even if they have forgotten due to well, being reincarnated.
He had notable influence in the crusades against the Cathars in southern France, where he grew attached to some of the locals in Carcasonne and Montsegur. When the crusades came, Ophioneus was responsible for the death of many of the crusaders, and there were tales of a dark beast with terrible sorcery, a servant of the devil incarnate, a creature that had brought about the demise of many men during the crusade. Especially when the crusaders burnt the Cathar locals alive, as heretics. The death count increased then. When Montsegur was besieged, Ophioneus helped the defenders, even as he found more knowledge about the ancient and mysterious artefacts amongst their possession. The Grail, and the books that would help lead to it, and the Labyrinth, were smuggled out of Montsegur. A few of the besiegers tried to stop them, but were slaughtered by Ophioneus.
In the wake of their slaughter, would be one of the first times Ophioneus would encounter one of his most powerful foes. A Fallen Angel who lead a group of similar beings. She would engage him in a battle that wrecked much of the nearby countryside, and inadvertently demolished some of the more remote villages in southern France. Despite some of the more powerful magic and attacks at his command, Ophioneus soon found himself defeated. Sadistic as that Fallen Angel was, it would be a slow and incredibly painful experience, one that involved the breaking of both mind and body, before he was killed. Enmerkar went through the same experiences, even though it wasn't his body. However, Ophioneus desire for immortality had not been fruitless. Indeed, the demon was able to drive his consciousness, even in its state, into a body he had prepared for such an occasion, sealed away and magically guarded in an underground fortress in northern Thrace. The body had been chosen for its potential, and its malleability. It was just one of many victims of Ophioneus, and once he took control of it, it moulded itself seamlessly into his image, taking his powers as easily as his old body. Of course, a certain Sumerian sorcerer's spirit he'd bonded with remained elsewhere, still under his sway. Ophioneus first swore vengeance against angels, fallen or otherwise, alike, then.
Centuries later, it was Ophioneus who became known in southern France, as the Beast of Gévaudan. As well as in the Holy Roman Empire, as the Demon of Ansbach, though of course, the superstitious locals ended up pinning the blame for the deaths he caused on an ordinary wolf, proclaiming the animal as something not so normal. In Spain, he was the one behind the killings of the Hellbeast of Allariz, which were again pinned by authorities on an innocent. Over time, he shortened his name to Ophion, in order to make his Greek origins less obvious, among other things. He often uses either version, though, and isn't too bothered. In the 1920s and 30s, he was sometimes known in America as the Rail Tracer, a crimson eyed monster that became commonly known as an urban legend, said to slaughter and devour the occupants of many trains, with people disappearing one by one, till none were left when the train reached its destination, and the interior of the train was redecorated in blood.
In various world conflicts, he actively made efforts to slaughter any soldiers that stepped near his grounds. These became places that were shunned and avoided by opposing sides and scouting efforts ended up disasters, so many simply blanked these places out and marked them as no-go areas, and he managed to ensure that there was just enough incentive for the more important leaders of some countries, to never look into these places, and focus on their rivals, and the rebels that popped up from time to time. Ophioneus had a good knack for sensing outcome of wars, and chose to stay out of several, though he would deign to become involved should it benefit him. Sometimes, those who went in search for occult artefacts in such places as his lands, found seemingly empty buildings, and at other times, they simply disappeared. For a lot longer than that, though, was the fact that the locals always stayed away from his abodes, for they viewed such places as cursed and evil. Now, in modern day, he keeps things even more well hidden, and has managed to collect many things of mundane and occult nature over the centuries, travelling as he often does.
Around 50 years ago, several government sponsored organisations were given information about him from a shady individual who was likely one of the rivals or enemies he'd garnered over centuries. They concocted a plan to capture him, though it ended up with numerous divisions of special forces being killed, they successfully lured him into a place that had wards set to trap powerful demons. Said wards successfully trapped him, whilst the unknown, deliberately vaguely-described rival of Ophioneus was revealed to be a Fallen Angel; part of that small faction whose enmity he had earned several centuries ago, and used weapons of light, combined with trapping him in an alternate dimension, to defeat the cornered demon. The rest of the group turned up- along with a mysterious benefactor of theirs, and decided to torture him for several years before bringing it to a climax, and leaving the demon near-dead and driven insane with fear and hatred. His release even in that state, was responsible for {insert mass murder/destructive event of note here}, though as a parting gift, the fallen angels left a curse glyph on his chest, that subjected him to their will, and had the additional, unpredictable power of bringing his hatred, pain and fear to the forefront, and giving him an unusual and erratic state of mind whilst in that state. Several other "supers" eventually encountered him, finding a fairly nonsensical individual, clearly hallucinating, delusional, and never very sane to begin with, as well as nearly dead, missing his left eye.
It's been a few decades since then, and Ophioneus has recovered, at least physically- other than his eye. However, within him still resides an intense hatred of angels, and a desire to become stronger, gain more power, and kill everyone that stands in his way, making them suffer like he did, before they die. Alongside this unstable mindset, he retains his manipulative, remarkably intelligent mind honed from his early life in the Eastern Roman Empire.

Dude, just make an original character, It doesn't have to be that original.
In fact, I'll have a vote when we get people. A subterranean race, or a space race, or no aliens.

Character Name: Bloodlust
Age: Over 3,000.
Gender: Female.
Appearance:(Image)
Side: Neutral, Works Alone Mostly.
Personality: Bloodlust is a wizard-assassin. She tends to be evil at times, but she has a few soft spots.
Powers:
- Fire Manipulation - Burn.
- Shadow Manipulation - Your own shadow will attack you.
- "Fountain of Youth" - The power to self sustain at a single age using magic.
- Death Manipulation - The Power to raise the Dead.
- Night/Heat Vision - She can see even when it's darker than Hell itself.
- Flight - Self explanatory.
- Telekinesis - Use the Force, Luke.
- Telepathy - You know those voices in your head...?
- And finally, Zero Gravity - She can turn her gravity off at will, this is connected to her flight powers.
Drawbacks:
- Light powers harm her more than dark magic.
- She hates being in sunlight.
- She has a tendency to be able to be harmed by human weapons, when not paying attention.
- Allergic to sunlight - Like a vampire, it hurts to be in the sun for her.
Bio: Bloodlust is a 3,000 year old wizard-assassin, who has always hated the Humans. After the Government formed and started hunting down super heroes, she didn't try to find help. In stead, she stays on the run and kills anyone who tries to attack her. She has yet to be caught, and is described as "highly dangerous" by the Government. Although Bloodlust is powerful, her powers are easily nullified when exposed to sunlight. Bloodlust has the power to control zombies, shadows, and fire, making her even harder to kill. Bloodlust isn't invincible, however. She could easily die from a bullet to the head.

Shadow manipulation seems overpowered.
But accepted if you can disprove that.

Accepted.
Now we need at least one person to play as a Brainwashed Super, fighting for the Government.
