Cerillium wrote:Suggestion. Urran and Torsi, you guys are doing a post/refresh/post rapid conversation. How about a collab since neither character is saying very much? Else, you could add a little more substance to your posts. A good indication of a scene going stale is if you can't think of anything to actually add to a post other than basic body language and limited banter.

There was still the unanswered question about the statue. There was Luce's comments. Investigate, perhaps? Knock on his door? You're simply tying up Tilt's character while Yoshi and Katya talk. You're in the apartment as part of Tilt's plot.

The theme of the week: challenge accepted!

Aye-aye!

A collab would do!

Jeez, Gio! You didn't need the disclaimer!

We know to respect all the characters! MLP might not be my favorite genre, but people don't need to like the things I like!

Ceril, still figuring out how Dora would react. Plus doing some reading. Sorry for the delay.

Itami wa tsukanomadesu. Hmm. Google translate.......... to Chinese? 疼痛是稍纵即逝 ? Probably makes it read "phone sings tampon".

I'm in no hurry. I haven't figured out where I want to go with Ogoti and his thoughts on Atosh. He might switch gears and gripe about Fram. Playing it by ear. Was going to use the coffee scene to reveal suspicions about Toshi but I used Swith's adventure to Japan instead. Much more entertaining. I'm out of practice writing location description. Let me know if anything's not clear. I'm open to suggestions to improve it. I finger paint; you airbrush.

@Gio. I trust you to play a pony. Usual dire warnings: there are things that eat ponies, players who hate MLP:FIM blah blah blah etc & so on. Approved.

You're too kind. I'm awful with art! Me am cat strangler. Cer is virtuoso.

The translation was flawless, funnily enough.

Your Nation's Nickname: New Aksarben

Character Name (can be different than nation name): Sterling Venture

URL to Character Picture or a few sentences about what they look like: Everything there, including the fez.

Character Species (nation personification, human, alien, etc): Intelligent Unicorn-Pony

Character Powers/Special Abilities (if any): Unicorn magic. He taps into a well of power within himself, that has a limit to how much he can use without having to rest and 'recharge'. It's focused through his horn, which glows in a golden color when he uses magic. He specializes in levitation magic and light magic(generating light and light sources. HE can learn other kinds of magic, but it tends to be difficult for him as his talent is in organization and working with books. He's a horse. It will hurt to be kicked by him. Especially if he kicks in certain areas.

Character Weaknesses/Flaws: a coward. He's skittish and runs very easy. His powers are quite weak compared to the magic of other unicorns who have their talent in the field. He struggles in learning any new magic, either because he messes up the spell or by the sheer fact its not really his area of expertise to learn more magic. He can be too selfless sometimes, putting the good of others before his own health. His world is behind technologically due to magic. As said before, his hooves can't be used as hands. He makes up for this with his magic, which allows for finer manipulation than most other ponies, but it's not perfect.

Character Background: Sterling grew up in Canterlot, the single child of a pair of unicorns. He tried out for Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, before his cutie mark appeared, but just barely messed up enough due to his nerves to be refused by the testers. So instead he went to one of the lesser known magic schools. Sterling spent much of his time at libraries or reading as a colt, which eventually led to the situation of how he ended up earning his cutie mark.

While Sterling Venture was reading in the library nearby his house one day, a group of bored ponies came through and basically threw every book they could on the floor. They told the librarian that the only reason they had done that was because they were bored, and books were stupid, before galloping off laughing. At first, Stirling just kept reading his books, not really caring and thinking that the librarian could handle this on his own.

After an hour or so, The librarian was having no luck at getting everything organized again, especially since books that should be going in the non-fiction section had somehow ended up outside. The fiction section was a massive pile of books on the floor, with more scattered everywhere around the library. Sterling realized that the Librarian needed a lot of help, so, setting aside the book he had been reading, Sterling got to work helping out the beleaguered unicorn in charge of the library. Sterling rapidly figured out the proper place for every book, and levitated them one at a time into the proper places. His magic wasn't strong enough to lift many books at a time, and it was strenuous enough lifting them from the mountain of books so rapidly.

Within about five minutes Sterling got everything back into place, with the library actually being cleaner than it was before. Sterling was thanked for all the help by the librarian pony, and the now-dust-covered unicorn went home for the day. After a good bath, Sterling discovered his new cutie mark, and was overjoyed that he got it from helping another pony selflessly.

Shortly after he earned his cutie mark, he graduated from the magic school he had been attending, with his new-found talents in organization and levitation helping him out immensely. Sterling decided to move out of Canterlot once he was old enough, choosing the nearby town of Ponyville for its size and relative remoteness. He wanted to get out of the capitol and see other aspects of life in Equestria, and he thought moving there would be a good start. But he eventually decided to stick around after making a few good friends there and growing to love living there.

Additional Notes: He's quite shy around new people, but once he warms up to being around someone he's very hyper and enthusiastic about basically everything that entertains him. He tries to help everyone he possibly can, even if they don't directly ask for help.

URL to Apartment Picture: Yes, he basically lives in a Library!

Link to RP examples: (this MUST be a DIRECT LINK to your IC post in an RP, NOT a link to the RP itself. If you don't have examples, make your biography good.) Do I need this?

IMPORTANT:
One paragraph that sums up your character. This paragraph is what we'll use on your player tab on the first page of the thread. This MUST be brief. Your tab will contain a link to your application so people will have full details: A unicorn pony born and raised in Canterlot, he defies the normal 'All Unicorns are Stuck-Up' stereotype as he's very down to earth and kind. He specializes in levitation magic and his talent is for organization and books in general. He can be very skittish and shy, but at the same time loves to meet new and interesting beings.

Thanks for posting first, Gio! and putting up the kind reminder to be tolerant!

While I'm perfectly tolerant, I do believe there is a fine line between them.

I just hope you all remember that if one of our characters doesn't personally like said pony characters, it probably wouldn't be us as players, just our characters opinions and all that! My characters wouldn't have a problem with it, but some characters might, but their handlers wouldn't.

Just wanted to know if you guys understand that too.

Did you want them to stay?

I for one think it would be hilarious for Yoshi to sleep on the same futon that Tasia previously occupied.

That's fine, Bran. I don't expect people to shake hands with them and act like they're people immediately, if anything, I expect the opposite. I mean it's a freaking talking horse, of course you're not going to take that in stride. It's more so the prevention of thinking that they're there for the sole purpose so one can live out their hatedom fantasy of going chainsaw pony-hunting. You can try to hunt them with chainsaws, yeah, anyone can be hunted with chainsaws, but just don't think that they're targets there for that purpose only. Try to kill them like you would try to kill any other char, is what I'm saying. :)

Ah, cool! That's exactly what I was thinking, Gio!

I'm usually used to double standards involving that sort of thing, like "You need to accommodate my characters!!!11!"

I'm glad that's not the case!

So what's up? I just got back from playing an intense game of Dawn of War against two friends that lasted nearly three hours.
