No. I don't want to improve my gaming experience and thus I'm selecting this option because you've pretty much boxed me in to it. I know I don't actually have to select anything anyway but I'm compelled to cast a vote. I know I can go to viewtopic.php?f=31&t=268404 if I really wanted to voice my opinion.

Final decision on the serial killer arc - It hasn't been canceled, but it's going to be on indefinite hold while I figure out how to retool it and then make the adjustments. It's not fair to make you guys wait, so feel free to bring in your new chars at your leisure, Gio, NA, and Cliff. I'll make sure Tasia doesn't cross paths with them. Bielefeld is big enough for the four of them. *nods*

Morning, guys.

Sometimes, I agree. I started off with the vanilla conversations (And still can't find anything to do with Kei otherwise), but now? I want to get out of it, I don't want to be left out of these things anymore, the fun things that I've missed for so long. But I still get stuck in Vanilla conversations because it's what I used to do. I feel that most people feel that my characters aren't good for anything but. I know Swith doesn't think that, or a few of you, but I think a good few of you hold that thought, or used to.

And, well, I have improved greatly (Yeah, me complimenting myself!), and I hope I'm qualified to be a part of these fun things. Vanilla conversations, to me, are neccessary, but only in small amounts. I mean, relationships make it neccessary, but I agree that we don't need as much of it.

That's just my two cents. Continue!

Good job explaining all that, Swith!

Honestly, that's the reasons I was getting annoyed during the dining room scene earlier. AETEN and several others didn't react to certain actions despite the fact some of my character actions would have been impossible to not notice.... Albert shouting, Jacob talking to Volf, both weren't noticed by people in the scene.....

Meh:.... Nvm.... I just felt like mentioning that....

You do good.

I'll pick on Swith.

She followed along and clambered out and through the door, down to the ground. It didn't help that Rachelle still didn't know where they were, they could have been on a different planet for all she knew.

"Okay, here's the rules," Sydney said, her mind thinking of it like an odd game. "The shadows are bad. The bad guys come out of them, and can see us if we walk in them. And we can't hide in cups and stuff, because they use holes to move around. So we stay in the light and walk like normal mice and if they spot us... we run really quick. And if I d-die," she had some difficulty even coming to terms with that word, "then don't be anyplace that's small because you'll turn back into you and get crushed by the small place."

Bran did a good post. He's got thought in there and action. He's giving a bit of the world and his character's relation to it. Short post by Bran but containing necessary information. Swith was probably tired when she replied. Sydney outlines "rules"; advice to keep them alive and to explain some methods cultists use. Clever girl. You negated a few cruel things I was preparing to throw at the girls. She neglects to ground the characters in the scene however. I sent a description to her in TG; it wasn't in her post. Bran's left blind for his next post. He can only follow up with dialog. Not fair to Bran. This happens too often in PL. Swith's experienced enough to know better.

Example of how far she's slipped into bad habits. This post was from 29 Oct 2012, Diplomacy Forums:
Swith Witherward wrote:
The Rambler skidded to a halt as Neste slammed on the brakes. She had just received the nicest compliment of her life but his struggle tore at her heart. Short of reaching into the organic part of his mind and physically culling anxieties (a common practice in her nation), she was left with few options for comforting him.

"I am so sorry to have caused this discomfort, but I think that you've forgotten what I am, Brother Itum." She gazed at the ship ahead of them and pinched her eyes closed, electing throw herself under the bus for his sake.

"There isn't any reason for you to have an emotional response to me. I am not human. You must think of me as hardware - as NST3v1, an artificially constructed biological component, part of a greater mechanism. To human males, we nothing more than an interesting frolic or an unholy hybrid unsuitable for passing on a genetic legacy. To human females, we are a threat because we are designed to be pleasing to the eyes."

"Words can not begin to express my gratitude when it comes to how kindly you perceive me. I will cease the suppression of my reptilian DNA if this form evokes an emotional response in you, and I'll return to a more-familiar form. I did not want to cause your crew unnecessary stress or create a situation that might be hazardous to my well-being, but what sort of a friend would I be if I put those concerns over the needs of my friend? My own feelings should become inconsequential. "

She roughhoused the Rambler back into gear and feathered the clutch, tamping down her own anxieties and promising herself that she could have a good laugh (or a good cry) over the whole thing once the job at hand was completed.

Did I visit this agony upon him? Did the tether somehow impact his inner workings? Neste frantically searched her memory, higher and lower aspects, desperate for a solution.

She couldn't pinpoint anything and gave up after a moment. "What caused the override?"

And then, because she was a gentle creature unaccustomed to any social interaction with humans other than instructions or insults, she added, "What sort of emotional response do I invoke?"

Damn it all, Swith. I'd like to chew you out fully but I'd be a hypocrite.
Cerillium wrote:
Inside the Room
The girls would encounter no resistance. The clown's eyes were blinded to their movements.

Outside, on the Carnival grounds
Toshi began checking the area. Nearly everything was still shut tight but that didn't mean small little shits weren't hiding in trash cans or under trailers.

Back at the Temple Gate
Hans heard Siduer's whisper. He sighed. "Next time, try words and not actions, alright?"

The cultist held his hand out to Chrys. "Take it. I'll move us there. We go, we try to find them, we avoid being noticed. Cat and mouse? There could be a hundred cultists guarding them for all we know. Let's plan for the worst?"

The Lobby
Ogoti chuckled. "Each person is unique, and they broadcast a unique aura. I recognized yours."

He stepped to the side to grant Dora a better view of the overly stuffed mailbox. It wouldn't normally be this packed but another handler wanted "mailbox checking" to be her thing so she'd have something to do IC and then she promptly forgets to check it (jab, poke jab). Ogoti's handler has digressed.....

"Just junk mail and catalogs," he shrugged, put his styrofoam cup upright in the box and shut the door again. "You look like you could use some coffee."

My post is absolute rubbish. I fucked over Tilt twice. I missed too many opportunities: bonding/rejecting Siduer; forming a stronger bond with Chrys; properly reacting to Dora's return to Ogoti for the coffee invitation; fucking myself out of expansion regarding Toshi's independent action.

I'm going to attempt to regain my own "rusty" skills. This means greater time between my posts. I owe it to myself and to players I'm interacting with to be at the top of my game.

Basic rules of RP: read every post. Look at what other players provide. React to it. Craft a post after spending time considering the situation. Go back and read the scene if too much time has passed in order to keep the element (theme, feel, concept) on track.

Aeten's posted a few times: I can't respond to that. There's not enough to work with. He's correct. It sounds rude but he's in his right to ask a player to provide more.

This brings up a point that I was about to make before NA made it just now:

Give players time to react. Aeten posts slowly. He crafts his response. He shot a few posts out but he assumed some players weren't expecting a response; they were only informing. Aeten should have sent a TG to NA to ask if he required a response.

Finally, follow up a post to an offline player by sending a TG to them. We circulate as well. I might be in another thread but I'll see the TG. I'll pause in my rotation to respond in PL. If you post and don't see any posts from me in OOC it means I'm in Diplomacy or General. I won't check back in with PL for an hour or so.

Don't worry about it. Your posts more than makes up for it. You know, I honestly think you do romance better than you do horror.

Did you mean "sticky under their bare paws"? Can I have a cookie for Engrish correction?

I'll put on my thinking cap and post something that'll give Bran working room. I have to catch up with Aeten as well... that's going to be a fun post. I'd never given much thought to plugs.

PS. Yep, I've gotten lazy. You're right. I hate it when you outshine me. *cracks knuckles, poises fingers over keyboard* It'll be a pleasure outperforming you, oh magnificent bastard.

That's the kind of healthy competition we need around here! See who cab outpreform the other. That's how they built ships during world war 2, US shipyards would have competitions to see who could build transport ships faster.

The record I believe was around 2 days for one ship, and it was a pretty big ship, ill link it when I get home.

Sounds great! Challenge players to improve with every post! I honestly got lazy too... Which is why I'll be focusing more on characters than relationships now! Or at least make them interesting!

I've actually thought of some interesting things for a few characters..... Jacob wants to explore the city for example. I keep meaning for him to ask Dora if she wants to come with, but it keeps slipping my mind! He could also ask someone else, but He wants to spend more time with Dora.... And some of his friends, as he's been neglecting them a bit!

That's just an example... I have other plans, but its better to keep then quiet for now!

Competition is fun! I just wish I could write "little kid thoughts" as well as Gio does. She captures it so perfectly.

Okay Bran... your turn. I'm going to work on a reply for Aeten so it'll be a double post from me. Ah well. Tilt, I'll wait for you to post for Chrys.

That moment when you go to pull a bottle of tea out of the fridge, and your eyes land on another half-empty one a shelf up that you don't remember opening. And then you wonder if your addiction has finally gotten to the point where you drink it in your sleep, and if your friend will finally be able to cross "Hold an intervention for someone" off her bucket list.
