Oval is the Street Speed Mini-Con Team's self-appointed comedian. Luckily, he's actually a moderately witty, funny individual... but he never ever shuts up. His unrelenting banter can grate even when he's on a roll, and if his jokes are misfiring, or if he's telling them at a way-inappropriate time (like if he's on a mission requiring any degree of stealth), even his allies may start considering doing terrible things to him.

His behavior is fueled by a very good intention; the war has broken many a spirit, and Oval just wants to keep his friends and teammates' moods up. And while most know this and appreciate the sentiment, they do wish he'd at least notch down the volume a bit.

Noticed your sig. We do have players who are Christian as well as a few who are fascist. They don't promote their views except on occasion. Just wanted you to be aware of it so it doesn't throw you or lead you to believe anyone is trying to convert anyone else to their line of thinking. I don't allow outright evangelizing but I also don't allow hostile views towards other's God/gods/political beliefs.

SITREP GAME TIME: It is now morning. Players have requested that we advance to the next day. Autumn is giving way to winter. There's a dusting of snow on the ground and the roads are still a bit icy. The city is laying down salt and everything should have melted by breakfast time. It's a balmy 45*F/7*C outside. Snow is in the forecast for that night. CITY CHANGES: Bielefeld has begun to set up holiday decorations. Lamp posts have twinkling holiday stars on them. Blue and white themes decorate the Jewish deli's storefront in the Market District (Hanukkah begins on the 27th this year). Muslim business owners are advertising their wares for the Day of Ashura, which is later this month. Christian business owners have little trees and nativities set up in their shops. Other religious holidays kept by shop owners are also displayed in their storefronts. The rest are just cashing in on the commercial benefits, so there are Christmas themes all along the shops in the Market District. Bielefeld doesn't have any big box stores (Walmart, Target, Kmart) and Black Friday isn't recognized. Every day is a good day to shop in Bielefeld. Merchants keep their prices respectable all year round rather than gouge you 10 months of the year. Please note: Bielefeld has a German feel to it as far as holiday decorations (the Sovereign-State is right near that part of Europe, on an island). Specific areas in the city do display their own world charm, such as the area around Mei Gardens - it's very Japanese in holiday style. Please don't define that decor - leave Japanese feel to that guy from Japan so it doesn't become weeaboo.1 CITY EVENTS: There will be a Tree Lighting in Memorial Park later this week, if players want their characters to attend. It kicks off the holiday season. There will also be various holiday-themed flea markets and other venues.2 CURRENT GAME EVENTS: Sig builds a boat Thriller Revival Katya Builds Company3 Allspice Mystery Bane Arrival/God War UPCOMING GAME EVENTS: We'll leave for the Island shortly after Turkey Day (American Thanksgiving). All characters will go because it is a change of venue for the entire game. Swith will give some new Island descriptions as we draw closer to Thanksgiving. Tilt's event will be on the Island (moved from September/Oct). The Gods War (which has been building for over a year) will begin the second phase in December. This is a major event but players may opt out simply by staying on the Island. Game play will not be interrupted in terms of time - those on the Island will have days/nights move at a different rate than those playing the God War. The Bane story ties into this. Minor Events still in play: Aksarben Containment Breach (ONGOING, CURRENTLY PAUSED) Unit 317 operation (PAUSED) BranRiech trip de novo (Possibly Jan?) Hetalia Rome (Possibly Jan?) Witherward Trip (Feb) Bran's Kei Adventure (Phase I - Introduction starting now, will build up over time.) He can swap this with the BranRiech trip to push it up the que if he wants. I'll work with him on timing if he needs some things to start earlier. 1 I've noticed a growing trend regarding how players set some things up regarding their take on other nations. Please be aware that we have people from those nations. Defining the Chinese based upon stereotypes can be rather insulting to a Chinese person without meaning to be. Likewise, it grates on my nerves when people define Japanese customs and thinking based on Americanized anime. If you want to tighten your character's background or add theme elements from the world that are supposed to reflect the world, we have players with vast sums of knowledge on that topic. I rely upon them and I'm fairly certain they'd love to help you with any questions you might have. 2 We'd like to incorporate your own traditions and background interests. Swith wants to add some themes from Italy and Hungary. I'd like to see some Chinese elements brought it. We can invent little shops and whatnot to flesh out the Market District. There are business apps on the OOC first page. Eru added a hobby store a while back. Would someone like to create a store that sells/exchanges video games? Flesh it out in an app and find some pictures for it. Do we need a florist? Someone make one. These aren't character-owned. They're things we need in Bielefeld that Swith can add to the description. Sent the link to your app to Swith in TG. 3 I need to touch base with Torsi. The security company can't have ties to his government (ie soldiers, funding, weapons provided by). It would be like Cuba funding a paramilitary organization that operates on US soil. Bielefeld will see it as a hostile action. I'm expecting everyone to read this game announcement. Players who don't read the OOC fuck up the game environment for everyone else. It's not fair to the other players.

In companies, I'd be looking at popular military or arms companies from the sisters' homeland. The bigger ones do work on government contracts, but also assist and sell to smaller private groups and civilians. Two of the biggest ones are very close to the state, but still operate on their own, while one is more privately owned, and works on its own designs for just police and civilians.

Sounds good. Your company would just need to get licensed and bonded (we won't bother to RP that out), and then set up a headquarters somewhere. The industrial district might work well since its close to the airport and far away enough for residential areas to not be too much concern. They could have a small satellite office downtown, if you wanted, where clients could meet and arrange contracts.

Just as with Eru's company, they won't have police powers. They'll need to coordinate with the city so they don't step on toes or violate any laws. Protecting a client from an assassin's attack is fine, but suddenly mobilizing to fight a monster would be bad since they're not patched in to police communications. That doesn't mean they won't be asked to help.

The building and lobby take on the form of whatever most appeals to a character. Victorian, edgy modern, whatever. There's a reception desk in the lobby where he'd fill out paperwork. the lobby also contains comfortable chairs, a panel of mailboxes on the wall, a large bench (Thinking Bench) and several doors. There's a lift there. Upstairs on the next floor are a communal kitchen and dining room as well as a library and rec room. I can put an NPC behind the desk or, if Tilt is on, he can get your character settled in.

It's morning, there's frost on everything, and the roads have just been salted.

1 - Not going to respond to that, in an effort to follow some of the responses I read in the P2TM survey, plus a post of Nathi's over in Moderation.

2 - He has a right to ask. We want to encourage people asking for clarification's sake so they don't make mistakes. I was going to leave that to Swith or Cer to answer as the OPs, but since this subject is being opened up, here's my preliminary answer.

Docking warships is fine, I think, as long as it's through channels. Have the Urranese government talk to Bielefeld's SecDef (or equivalent title). Like a port visit, or for joint exercises. Anything else is probably going to be taken for an act of war.

If Swith or Cer or Bones say anything different, listen to them.

Maybe, maybe not, it'd be a lot of instances to go through to make sure the complainer was ALWAYS wrong in PL. Though, yeah, off the top of my head, I can think of way more instances where the complainer was wrong. To be fair, all the instances I can think of were where one character's wangst was holding the others back from some greater mission, and all from a pretty long time ago, when we weren't as organized. It's gotten way better since.
