You know, I've been wondering recently. How important is it to you guys to come up with something truly, completely original in a character concept or RP idea? Do you guys absolutely have to unveil something totally new, or can you draw on something(s), or does it depend on your mood?

I sweated blood for 3.5 hours coming up with my latest char, and before that I was struggling for 2-3 days with my original char idea until I finally trashed it in a fit of frustration.

So what are your thoughts, PL peeps?

Sometimes the character is a passing idea that I originally am using for only one purpose, but then I start going a little wild with what's going on in their head, their personality, what they do, etc. and now I don't want to give them up (that was actually what happened with Black Jack; he was just supposed to be a one-time aspect to scam Willow and Sterling, but I found that I enjoyed writing for him so much, that his behavior, personality, movements, and how he would react to certain things just began flooding into my head, so I now am keeping him around for something else should the need arise, because it seems a waste to throw him out). Most of the time, I have a handful of ideas, feelings, and motivations that I slowly draw a person around. That person then becomes a little puppet with which I sport around, get a feeling for, and develop both in play and in my head.

@Tilt, I don't know how to explain that they changed, but they have. Torii acts differently, Katya is nicer and shyer, more subdued, they just seem mellowed out now.

I can totally just see you standing before some judge in an opulent court room with your mad scientist clothes, and while mid-ranting about the various horrible things you'd do to the city, the judge stops and asks you what exactly it is you are mad about. "Oh, well, you see, I just got these very unreasonable parking tickets and..."

Not really home. Went to homework club because I'm supposed to meet my mentee to help him with his Algebra homework, but he skipped out on me and said that "after school isn't working out". But he knows that there's no other time for us to meet, because he doesn't want weekends or lunches. But otherwise, he's going to fail another class because he can't divide. Worse yet, his dyslexia causes him to need the extra help, but he barely takes anything from his school tutoring class or me.

In any case, be on in an hour. Working on some Spanish. Earlier today, I acted as a therapist for one of my friends who basically broke down because she had done everything to please her father, and she doesn't know if her dreams are really her own. She wants to help people and be a biochemist, but she has no clue if that was just drilled into her. I was just glad to be able to comfort her and make her feel better, since she's done it for me back when I went through severe relationship troubles.

Sharingan/Mangekyo Sharingan - Sharingan abilities include casting deadly powerful lllusions, hypnosis (or sleep inducement) and mimicking/copying any difficult combat or martial art movements. It also enables him to see the energy flow within anything living, allowing to analyse & track fast-moving objects before finally getting some amount of predictive capabilities which allow him to see the image of an attacker's next move from the slightest muscle tension in their body and counter-attack or dodge without any wasted movement. His Mangekyo Sharingan has the power to utilize a kind of Singularity Inducement technique that is very useful against more powerful opponents as well as to induce fear, detect and to some extent even control any demonic being.

Character Weaknesses/Flaws:
- Hasn't fully mastered his bad luck yet so it can still often get in the way of his tactics.
- Although he is able to mimic any fighting style his enemy does with his Sharingan, he is unable to copy their powers nor any supernatural ability.
- He is able to see an attack or know it is coming but his body may not always have time to react.
- As he is unable to de-activate his Sharingan at will, he will always need to cover it up in order to prevent energy loss and from hurting other people accidentally.
- Using the Mangekyo Sharingan will drain his entire energy to the point of exhaustion. Thus, he will only use it in times of emergency.
- Life Force Manipulation can only be used to create all variations of the Chidori/Raikiri techniques.
- Has an obvious weakness for pretty girls and hot chicks and can easily get distracted by one even during an intense fight. Against a girl he will sometimes purposely lose depending on the situation.
- Must eat his usual 3 bowls of his favorite Jajanmyun noodles a day or else he can go cold turkey.


Character Background:
Abel Lee is the unlucky progeny of Satan and the archangel Ariel. Because of his chaotic bloodline and the fact that he could possibly become one of the most powerful beings in the Universe, Satan planned in using his own child as a vessel to bring about the World's end (Anti-christ) and thus, imprisoned Abel within the deepest depths of Hell in order to protect him from numerous vicious supernatural hunters. Living in Hell is of course no joke......especially for someone with angel blood in them. Abel tolerated his stay in this nightmarish prison, but once he reached the age of 16, he couldn't take it anymore and decided to break free. With the help of his older step-sister, Abel managed to steal one of his father's Sharingan eyes and implant it into himself. Using it, he escaped from the Hellhounds that guarded the main gates of Gehenna and entered Earth assuming a human form. For 3 years he remained hidden from Satan and adopting the alias of Iridescent, became a legendary hero-for-hire amongst the normal human beings of Earth who still don't know is true identity.

Additional Notes:
Iridescent is a great bomb expert and always carries a whole lot of different modified and upgraded grenades and explosives with him during a mission.
- He is renowned for always keeping his word & honour (except when confronted by his father of course) and for being a very dependable person.
- The only gun Abel carries with him is a Smith & Wesson Airweight Model 37-2, although he does tend to bring along a shotgun sometimes.
- Always armed with a tactical knife plus numerous shurikens and throwing knives
- Is a big fan of erotic novels and comic books and can always be seen reading one in public or while taking a stroll
- Allergic to cats
- Loves spicy food and anything with fried chicken or beef.

Abel has a really calm and cool attitude despite being the first-born son of Satan. No matter in what kind of situation he is in, he will always have that care-free, tardy, "go with the flow" kind of behaviour. But make no mistake. Abel often does this to trick his opponents and make them underestimate his true skills & value. From day one he would have already carefully cross-examined & analysed his new friends, allies & rivals......figuring out multiple different possible ways to counter them emotionally and physically should he face them in a battle/challenge. Abel never really shows his true weaknesses and feelings to anybody. Although he might seem really friendly, shy and awkward around people, he is in-fact really apathetic to their lives and problems. Yes he is honestly a dependable character who would always remain loyal and and faithful to his 'friends' & family. But..........when the greater good is concerned, he would never hesitate to stab them in the back or kill them without a second thought, should any of them get in his way or be a threat to the lives of innocent civilians.

Character Background: Born in the Monarchy of Tinell, a strange, inconsistent land located somewhere between Europe and Africa, Cerril was groomed for most of his life to be the heir to the throne, however, with the unexpected death of his father, he was thrown to the head of the nation without finishing his training at the age of 20. Despite this, he has performed admirably, leading his country through two wars, and producing a single heir, which he has left in the care of his siblings while he attempts to live out a new life in this strange new city.

Additional Notes: Cerril is extremely rich, and has the backing of his country assuming there's a financial emergency. He is also quite generous, and will attempt to assist his friends if they find themselves in trouble.

King Cerril El Estafador is a changeling (Insectiod unicorn with perforated legs, essentially), and the king of an obscure, somehow wealthy nation named Tinell. He's generous, although a bit prone to anger if too many things go wrong for him in succession. He is also quite susceptible to panicked breakdowns, where his behavior becomes unpredictable or outlandish, to say the least. Still, when it really matters he'll get over his fears and rise to the occasion, doing whatever needs to be done.

Alright, this isn't the forum for it, but there's a very dissatisfied child in this world, and she was busy on my craptop. I asked her what she planned to do with this massive... for an 8 year old... "letter". She said, "I printed it and mailed it."

FUUUUUUUUUUU.

Dear President Obama,

My name is Morgan and I’m 8. I want to let you know that I’m sad. I’m sad because of how stuff gets run.

You say Obamacare but you don’t. Congress and Senate don’t. I know this because you don’t make us tie our shoes.

I didn’t want to tie my shoes when I was little. I knew how to tie my shoes. I didn’t like doing them. My daddy said ‘Put on your shoes’ and I wouldn’t. My daddy would get mad and he always said ‘You have the ability so I won’t do it for you.’ I had to go to the car without my shoes and my feet got wet. He wouldn’t buy shoes that didn’t have laces. I started tying my own shoes because no one did it for me.

You need to tell people to tie their shoes. They have potential. Stop putting their shoes on. It’s called enabling. You want to tie American’s shoes for them. You want to give them shoes with no laces. You think it’s kind and helps them. It doesn’t. They’ll forget how to tie them. The shoes are all the things you give Americans because they refuse to do what they should. You give them free food and houses and you give phones and low utilities. Some people really can’t tie their shoes but you don’t teach them to. You need to stop doing this. Teach them and then let them get their feet cold. They’ll want to start tying their shoes on their own. Some people really can't tie their shoes. Those are the people who need shoes without laces.

Now I want to tell you about divorce.

My daddy and mother are divorced. You and congress and senate are divorced. You fight all the time in front of us. It makes us sad. You care about your needs. You want your way. What about the kids? Those are the American people. You think you know what’s best but your [sic] so busy fighting. You forget you have kids and then you use us as weapons to get your way.

Divorced parents made us feel unstable. We don’t know what house we’ll sleep in. We don’t know if we’ll get juice or milk. We don’t know if you really wants us or just have us over because obligation. We know you won’t ever agree but please stop screaming and behaving bad in front of us. It makes us feel ashamed.

Now I’ll tell you about America. I think you forgot our birthdays and favorite foods.

America is me. My daddy is a foreign worker. He’s smart and earns a lot of money. He’s Japanese. From Japan. My mother is Japanese-American. Her family was put in camps during World War 2. They lost all their stuff. They got taken out of their house with just what was on their body. Because the government didn’t trust them. America didn’t trust them.

My great grandfather was in Army in World War 2. He served in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. They were mostly Japanese. He served while his family was in camps in the US. They are the most decorated infantry unit in the history of the United States. They were the Purple Heart Battalion. No one said sorry to him. He fought for America because he was an immigrant and proud of America. He knew honor.

No one said sorry to many immigrants, not really. There aren’t programs to apologize to Japanese-Americans. There aren’t programs to apologize to any immigrants. Immigrants came here for the American Dream. I don’t know what that is. I asked my daddy and he said ‘America is the land of opportunists now.’ He said America was a place people came to so they could escape the bad stuff in their country. They came for a new change. They didn’t have much. The government wouldn’t let them come unless they had sponsors and a way to live. They didn’t have programs to make life easy. They had to learn English. My daddy said no immigrant ever died for trying to learn English. Immigrants didn’t have no one to tie their shoes.

Why are you enabling illegal immigrants? It’s very insulting to immigrants who have to fight just to come here. My daddy almost had to leave because the government shut down. He couldn’t get an extension. He would have to go and leave me behind. He has a house and car here. He has a job. He pays taxes on food and stuff. He learned English. There are no programs for legal immigrants. Illegal immigrants are the kid next door. He comes over and gets free food. Then the mommys and daddys love him more and the real kids get pushed away. That’s very wrong. It makes us feel bad.

Stop saying sorry to black people. There aren’t any slaves anymore. The last living former slave was Sylvester Magee. He died in 1971. No one sees blacks as slaves anymore. Blacks are awesome human beings with rights and liberties just like me and everyone. They wear shoes. Stop tying them. Just stop. They’re just like me and all the other kids in the family. They have potential. They won’t take responsibility if you don’t let their feet get cold. You spent a lot of money on shoes without laces to make their life easier. That’s bad parenting. The rest of us get neglected and made to feel shame for something that happened before we got born.

Kids don’t like it when other kids get more favor or special treatment. It makes us hate each other. We don’t like it when parents don’t listen. We hate it when you tell us what we need instead of asking us what we want. We hate it when you fight with each other. We are sad when you don’t recognize the hard work we do. We want you to be proud of us. We want to prove we’re grown up enough to do some things by ourselves.

America is dysfunctional. It’s the yucky rude family down the street that everyone talks about. Kids can’t change the way the family gets seen. Parents have to set examples. You and congress and senate have to set examples. We learn by them.

What examples am I learning? Please stand in my shoes. Now look around. I’m tiny. The world is big and scary. I want to feel secure. I want to feel that all my brothers and sisters are equal. And I mean really equal. I want all the family fighting to stop. I want my brothers and sisters to step up so all the chores aren’t put on me. Especially since they get my allowance and don’t do anything to earn it. I want you parents to stop buying things we don’t want. I want you to stop taking sides and stop pointing to the other parent when things go wrong. I want you to stop using us when you fight. We’re not weapons. We’re kids. Step up and be good parents for us.

...Man, this is one of those times that I hope we can all meet someday. Before we die and...do whatever dead people do.
