Yes the European nations do not inherit the roman colonies and somehow you just skipped all the troublesome parts of colonization and inherited an area that could not have been all Mongol territories.

Okay will add your claims to my map. Just keep in mind keeping a nation stretched over ocean like that is going to leave a good portion of it vulnerable.

I don't think so.

humble opinion: Denmark is poised for destruction, too much irredentism from Germany and Russia + together, they're much more powerful. And I don't think anyone would rush to their defense (at least I can't see a viable geopolitical ally).

Britain was not, but as a naval power Britain was, at least popularly believed, much ahead of the rest of the world. As Japan your nation has worse tech then the former Roman areas and China. Also your country has colonies right next to pretty powerful nations, and not just colonies of powerful nations but next to their cores.

I do agree with Epraria on the case about the colonies, somehow having gained the areas of Vietnam and Alaska-or even getting it in the first place, but it is Vehemia's choice, if he ever gets on.

Well, the Netherlands player is attempting to inherit Northeastern Europe and maritime Canada. Though only that and the Low Lands is his only claim. If he gets rejected we can just make the colonies in to an NPC or wait for someone to RP as them.

Well that is only because the OP claimed that those specific areas, Maritime Canada and northeastern USA, were settled by the Romans that I support it being made a more European type nation.

(Qing claimed to rule Sakhalin, but they never actually exercised much control there, and they were mostly gone by the 19th century) Nations often claimed certain regions without exercising much factual control over them, even in Europe - for example, French colonial empire in the African interior consisted of little more than brick buildings with a Frenchman and a flag 100 km apart from each other. You can say this is the situation in more remote regions of Japanese colonies.

As for inheriting Mongol colonies, I think it's reasonably justified by my history as Mongolia's main naval base and industrial center.

I do control Sakhalin, Mongolia and Manchuria directly here. I still find your colonial empire a tad bit to early. Small coast of California would not mind me but the entire western coast of America and Canada....

No actually...China had many times gotten in to wars with the number nations or powers of Mongolia and Manchuria to gain control.

Also I set up Korea as the main naval base, or at least for the New World, by saying that was from where colonists and merchants were sent to the east. The industrial center thing would have been China, simply because the China area has the best technology in the kingdom.

If I'd acquired Armenia I'd have made it with a substantial Abrahamic minority. Not sure how Christianity would be relevant to the Goths in this timeline though.
Also, I've noticed that plenty of islands- Cape Verde, Azores, Canaries, Falklands remain unclaimed. Surely they'd have been low-hanging fruit for a rapidly modernising Roman Europe?

Not that I really intend to claim any of them. Helvetia would actually be the smallest nation with or without them, anyways.
