Irrelevance wrote:Nation name: Gothic Empire
Form of rule: Imperial
Location: Modern day Ukraine's territory
Currency: Solit (From the Roman Solidus coin)
Population: 11,000,000 (Half our historical population of the Ukraine at the time, though I think the figure may have been 1920)
Internal Development Level: Not developed, the nation is mostly agricultural.
International Economic Strength: Not very strong, trade is big though, but not much of the money gets into the hands of the commoners.
Military Size: 100,000 active soldiers, 900,000 reserves/militias
Military Info (Optional): All males undergo a year of training upon their eighteenth birthday, and remain as potential reserves until the age of twenty five when they are downgraded to normal civilians, though they can still serve as volunteers, on the whole the military is pretty well equipped as war is a big thing for the Goths, the old barbarian blood lust is still in their veins, and machine guns do a hell of a lot more than knives.
Ideology: Imperialism, Gothic nationalism/supremacy.
Religion: Gothic/Roman hybrid paganism, minority Slavic and Mongol groups.
Capital city: Gesyev (Kiev, but instead of Kyi being the mythical founder, it was a Goth named Gesa)
National History: As in our timeline, several tribes of ancient Goths, namely the Greuthungi and Thervingi's settle around the Dneister river and Black Sea some time in the third century, the Thervingi still attempt to invade the Roman Empire around 270 AD, and are crushed as usual, but instead of staying around the Danube as they did in our reality and realising that the Thervingi alone can not defeat the mighty Roman Empire, the tribal leader, who's name has been lost to history returned to Crimea and after marrying his daughters off to several other chieftains, asserted his domination over the local tribes, this proto-Gothic state did not cover all that much territory and was not very powerful, but it was a symbol of things to come.

When the Huns invaded, as I assume they still did, the Gothic state, now covering most of the western half of their current borders petitioned the Roman Emperor for protection, which was granted, and it became just another Roman province, the Gothic leaders did not like being under another's command, but it was better than being exterminated by the Huns (In RL, they were near the Danube and had been attacked later, and then en-masse moved into Rome, so this is nicer than the alternative for them), the old enemies were now saviors and friends, they brought wonderful new technologies such as aqueducts, great cultural advances like currencies and introduced the Goths to imperialism, which becomes very important later on.

The Goths stood by their Roman rulers through thick and thin, the proud barbarian race proved to be just as good at fighting alongside Romans as they were against them, almost a thousand years of (relatively) peaceful existence went by in this manner, and many everyday Gothic words have their roots in those used by Legionnaires and Centurions, eventually they came to think of themselves as both Gothic and Roman, but they were Goths first and foremost, when the Empire fell, they were quite disturbed, and afraid of potential change, so naturally, they kept an Empire going, the Gothic Empire.

Since then, in the hundred years of the Goths being free, they have, though several quick conquests against hold outs of Mongol and Slavic rebels, unified the area known to us as the Ukraine, and have been living in peace ever since, they see themselves as the rightful successor to the old Roman Empire, and many Roman traditions, words and institutions are carried on, such as the slave trade, citizenship for conquered peoples (As long as they serve their masters), a proper currency and others.

Primary Language: Gothic
Secondary Language(s): Latin and Greek speaking trade communities in Crimea, plus local Slavic languages and the occasional Mongol village in the East.
Naval Ship Prefix: Go.V. (Gothic Vessel)
Demonym: Goth (Although there are some Slavs, Mongols and Romans sitting around)
Leader(s): Emperor Winguric I

Postby L1 » Wed Aug 14, 2013 10:21 pm

Last time I tried to roleplay with you and my friend Parhe he got pissed so I left. He invited me again but this time I will not leave.
Nation name: Kingdom of Chimor
Form of rule: Elective/Federal Monarchy
Location: http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/2295/um3i.png
Currency: Sukhe
Population: 55,000,000
Internal Development Level: 7
International Economic Strength: 5
Military Size: 285,000
Military Info (Optional): Same organized like Inca. Technology and weaponry is more like that of Eurasia.
Ideology: Expansionist, tolerant, trade based.
Religion: Polytheist. Worship Moon.
Capital city: Chan Chan
National History: By 1300 when contact was first made with Mongolia Chimor was at the height of expansion but recently stopped in the southward march by nations of the Lima valley. Although first struck by many new diseases the Chimor Kingdom began a recovery in 1334 and, utilizing the new technology from the Korea sponsored Mongolian voyages, began expanding mostly to the north, though a small annexation was done to the south of the Lima valley that had before withstood advances. With a larger agricultural population, as compared to the more nomadic natives, the Chimor Kingdom soon reached the Caribbean sea in 1430. Peace and contempt settled before a plead arrived from the southern neighbors Incas that, with the same, though in less numbers, technology and weaponry from Mongolia, swept eastward, over the Andes and to the Atlantic in quick conquest, for help fighting a strange foe on the eastern end of the continent. These forces turned out to be the Roman backed Tupi people, retaliating for lost lands. The war was quickly won with possibly the Incas being the greatest victims. Most the men used were warriors of the nations and have been killed, leaving the nation depleted in manpower and then absorbed by the Chimor Kingdom, whom annexed also the majority of Tupi land. Expansion since the 1450's have been largely mute, though small expansions have occurred to the north and south.
Primary Language: Mochica
Secondary Language(s): Quingnam, Puruha, Mongolian, Latin

Nation name: Empire of Japan ("Great Yamato" is also used in documents, after Chinese custom)
Form of rule: constitutional monarchy
Location: Japan, eastern Siberia and the Pacific
Currency: mon
Population: 53 million (mainland + colonies)
Internal Development Level: very advanced
International Economic Strength: also very advanced :O
Military Size: 600,000
Military Info (Optional): military is composed of samurai class hereditary warriors (after various reforms reduced to about 150,000 men) and personal guard of the Emperor, organized pretty much like your standard army, which has currently expanded to 450,000 warriors from all social strata.
Ideology: Confucianism
Religion: syncretic (very varied - Buddhism, mostly of zen and Pure Land schools, Shintō, Shinbutsu-shūgō as a combination of the two, some animism, Daoism, American polytheism etc.)
Capital city: Kyoto
National History: In 1274, Japan was invaded by Mongolian Empire, and combined fleets and armies of Japanese daimyos were powerless against burgeoning Mongolian army. In 1276, Mongolian troops conquered Kyoto and forced the Emperor to pay tribute to Mongolian empire; Japan has effectively become a Mongolian vassal. This dominance was traumatic for Japanese collective consciousness and lasted for almost two centuries, although Japan also benefitted from Mongolian technology. It became one of the richest Mongolian provinces, developed as an industrial powerhouse, shielded enough from the Romans to be safe.
Sensing Mongolia is about to collapse, Emperor Hanazono II launched a national rebellion in 1436. Entire Pacific fleet of the Mongolian Empire, composed mainly from ethnic Japanese sailors, mutinied and soon was available to His Imperial Majesty's orders. After scoring illustrious naval victory at the Battle of Tsushima and knowing that without navy Mongolia was not dangerous to Japan, Emperor decided against continued fighting, instead opting for a peace with Great Khan, guaranteeing Japanese independence.
Following that war, Imperial court enjoyed enormous prestige among its subjects. Japan, armed with enormous armament industry and determination of its people, became a Great Power in the following years, colonizing Pacific from Luzon to Southern California. Yamasabaku Republic, encompassing California, Oregon, Washington and the Rocky Mountains, colonized since 1353 under Mongolian supervision, has recently been granted home rule, although it is still part of Greater Imperial Dominion. Empire of Japan also settled New Zealand in 1465.
Initially the government was an absolute monarchy, but in 1495, Emperor Tsuchimikado II granted Japanese people a constitution which, albeit convoluted and mostly conservative (e.g. the Emperor still chooses his Shogun - a prime minister-like office - at will), does grant several provisions for the new Legislative Diet, including shiny new elections! We'll see how it goes.
Primary Language: Japanese
Secondary Language(s): none
Naval Ship Prefix: NTF (Nihon-tennō no fune)
Demonym: Japanese
Leader(s): Emperor Tsuchimikado II

Seeing as you have all the earlier conquests of Mongolia (Mongolia, Manchuria, Northern China, Turkestan, and Korea) you probably have the best technology and infrastructure out of the former Mongolian nations.

Tbh, I'll just take everything that's free and not in Africa/South America. Shame I can't have Japanese Dominion of Canada, but what can you do.

Also, I'd argue that Japan should have control over Chishima and Karafuto (what's with those baka gaijin names), on the basis that I can't imagine Russia going there before I do. But I suppose claims are sacred. :P

Isn't Karafuto Sakhalin? China has that area while the Kurils, well I don't know. I suppose he could just say the Mongolians allowed the Russians to settle. Both areas being part of Mongolia. You could be Belarus in Europe or a South East Asian nation. If you want you can be a Japanese Canada and I will just take the USA part of Cascadia, and maybe a small part of British Columbia.
