Description of Your countries History

In 1603, after decades of civil warfare, the Tokugawa shogunate (a military-led, dynastic government) ushered in a long period of relative political stability and isolation from foreign influence. For more than two centuries this policy enabled Japan to enjoy a flowering of its indigenous culture. Japan opened its ports after signing the Treaty of Kanagawa with the US in 1854 and began to intensively modernize and industrialize. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Japan became a regional power that was able to defeat the forces of China and Formosa (Taiwan). It now stands as the dominant power in Asia and is poised to become a great power.

Description of your nation's Economy

Japan emerged from the Tokugawa-Meiji transition as the first Asian industrialized nation. From the onset, the Meiji rulers embraced the concept of a market economy and adopted British and North American forms of free enterprise capitalism. Rapid growth and structural change characterized Japan's two periods of economic development after 1868. Initially, the economy grew only moderately and relied heavily on traditional Japanese agriculture to finance modern industrial infrastructure. By the time the Russo-Japanese War began in 1904, 65% of employment and 38% of the gross domestic product (GDP) were still based on agriculture, but modern industry had begun to expand substantially. By the late 1920s, manufacturing and mining amounted to 23% of GDP, compared with 21% for all of agriculture. Transportation and communications developed to sustain heavy industrial development.

Description of your nations Government

The political system of Japan is heavily influenced by that of Germany. Although the parliament has much power, the Emperor is by no means a figurehead and still wields much sway in the political process.

I thought it was based on the 1900 map. So Korea, Manchuria, Phillipines, all territories you will not get until later in the game (I'm gonna have to fight you for Korea though)

I did everyones claims in the order they applied (and I included Russia since they're reserved) so don't complain if you didn't get exactly what you want. First come; first serve. :p

Also, I wasn't sure if Prussia was accepted, since only Germany was on the list, so I left them out.

You forgot some of the US territories and I'm pretty sure Korea is still independent. I'll have to fight Japan for that. Plus, you cut off half of North America!

Are you talking about Belize? Because Belize was (and still is) an English-speaking country. Thus, I thought it made more sense culturally to leave Belize out.

Or am I missing something else?

I filled in anything that wasn't a tiny un-fill-in-able dot. If it was, I just figured that it wouldn't be too hard to remember who had Guam etc. :p

If I missed something else, tell me.

You're right though, Korea should be independent, they weren't annexed until 1910. I'll fix that later.

Yeah, I know half of N. America isn't there, but theres really only two countries on that area, and I don't think that there will be any massive border changes in that area...
If you really think it's necessary, I can make a new one.

Yeah, I have none of those territories. I tried to articulate that I claimed only the territories that had dates from before 1900. As for Korea, they are independent but firmly in my sphere. It would be though for the Americans to get it.

I don't know if the American public would support that. They barely supported incorporating the Philippines so declaring war on Japan for no reason wouldn't really be in line with reality.

Yeah, but your nation doesn't necessarily have to be that nation's 1900 borders IRL.

ICD told me that I could RP as a revived Poland-Lithuania instead of a (IRL 1900) Polish resistance movement if I wanted to, so you don't even necessarily have to be a country that even existed in 1900 IRL.

EDIT: Oops, logged in under a puppet. :p
