hmm....If I do that I might as well hold off on the next part until c. 1890, when such a war would've finally been feasible for America, no matter who leads it. Still, it is alt-history, and we've a long way to go before we have to make such decisions.

Holding it to 1890 could also lead to a setup for a world war RP in this universe, followed eventually by the Cold War one where communism and civil rights and decolonization get thrown into the mix.

If the Opium War is averted, I may probably have the Daoguang Emperor abdicate either in 1881, and/or die around late 1890-early 1891, or at the latest, either die or abdicate in 1895, at the age of 113. If he abdicates in 1895, he will die in 1898 a week after his 116th birthday.

Anyways, for opium, I considering having the ban pass the Yinshi, the Emperor vetos, the Yinshi gets in a deadlock with 46 voting against the veto (the minimum is a 2/3rds majority or 58 votes), and the 42 members voting to keep the veto, but since none reach the necessary 58 votes, it automatically gets vetoed, but the Emperor announces a compromise to create an "Imperial Opium Commission," and to ban opium to minors (under 18) and women, except European minors and women (defined as anyone born to a European father, or is a grandchild of a European).

Yes. Then again, the Manzu Liameng opposes restrictions on opium for obvious reasons.

I am thinking a communique, of the Emperor awarding Shinan (older Qingdao) and Shibei (what you will build up) to Germany, in recognition of the Sino-German friendship, really, after the approval of the MP in the Diet, and the government in Qingdao.

Chin a knows that the suez belongs to Egypt or the ottoman empires right? And neither of them won't be happy to see a bunch of Chinese settlers in their territory so really Chinese settlers in the suez is ridiculous.

I will accept that Egypt and the Ottomans attacked the Chinese, because it will set the stage for a later war with Egypt, either when the explorers make their expedition into the deepest parts of Daohui, and then seeing a lake and following its river downstream, thinking it is a new river, before arriving in Khartoum or Cairo, and then subsequently getting attacked by Egyptians.

In the short term though, I plan for abandonment of the region, but not before kidnapping most of the native inhabitants and taking them to Malei.

...Native inhabitants of where? I now RP Egypt and the Ottomans in addition to my other two, so you can't do that without my approval, and I say no.

I love how the only nation that seemingly wants to talk with Italy is Germany. Maybe I should be more active so that people notices Italy though.

I am a.ready busy with the austrians and then I need to rebuild my forces because I will take casualties despite that the austrians are going to have to fight both the Germans, my italians and the ottomans.
