IN DIXIE'S LAND, Confederacy
Free men hear your country call you!
Up, lest worse than death befall you!
To arms, to arms, to arms, Dixie Land!
Hear the voices of this land's salvation
In the voices of this Revolution!
To arms, to arms, to arms, Dixie Land!
Advance the flag of Dixie! Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie's land we take our stand, and live or die for Dixie!
To arms! To arms! And conquer peace for Dixie!
To arms! To arms! And conquer peace for Dixie!

Send the Royal Crown your fierce defiance!
With free America in proud alliance!
To arms, to arms, to arms, Dixie Land!
On, ye patriots, to battle,
Hear Americaner cannon rattle!

Go meet the foul foreign oppressors,
With iron will and faith in God's successes.
To arms, to arms, to arms, Dixie Land!
Know that the men at your side
Will stand with you until they die!

No more shall we be trampled under;
British flags in our winds shall cease to flutter!
To arms, to arms, to arms, Dixie Land!
Hail those who have gone before thee,
And served to liberate our country.
To arms! To arms! To arms, Dixie Land!
Advance the flag of Dixie! Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie's land we take our stand, and live or die for Dixie!
To arms! To arms! And conquer peace for Dixie!
To arms! To arms! And conquer peace for Dixie!

Fear no danger! Shun no labor!
Lift up rifle, pike, and saber!
To arms! To arms! To arms, Dixie Land!
Shoulder pressing close to shoulder,
Let the odds make each heart bolder!
To arms! To arms! To arms, in Dixie!
Advance the flag of Dixie! Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie's land we take our stand, and live or die for Dixie!
To arms! To arms! And conquer peace for Dixie!
To arms! To arms! And conquer peace for Dixie!

Swear upon your country's altar
Never to submit or falter-
To arms! To arms! To arms, Dixie Land!
Till the defilers are defeated,
Till the Lord's work is completed!
To arms!

OUR DIXIE FOREVER, Confederacy
Our flag is proudly floating on the land and on the main,
Shout, shout the Battle Cry of Freedom!
Beneath it oft runs the blood of George Washington,
Shout, shout the Battle Cry of Freedom!

Our Dixie forever! She's never had a loss,
Down with the lion, and up with the cross,
We will rally 'round the Confed'rate Flag, we'll rally once again,
Shout! Shout! The Battle Cry of Freedom!

Our gallant boys have marched to the rolling of the drums,
Shout, shout the Battle Cry of Freedom,
And Britain's tears shall invigorate our strength,
Shout, shout the Battle Cry of Freedom!

Our Dixie forever! She's never had a loss,
Down with the lion, and up with the cross,
We will rally 'round the Confed'rate Flag, we'll rally once again,
Shout! Shout! The Battle Cry of Freedom!

They've laid down their lives to free this land,
Shout, shout the Battle Cry of Freedom!
Their motto is "Down with Britain!"
Shout, shout the Battle Cry of Freedom!

Our Dixie forever! She's never had a loss!
Down with the lion, and up with the cross,
We'll rally 'round the Confed'rate Flag, we'll rally once again,
Shout, shout, The Battle Cry of Freedom!

BATTLE HYMN OF THE REPUBLIC, Union/Confederate
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword:
His truth is marching on.

Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

I have seen Him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps,
They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps;
I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps:
His day is marching on.

Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
His day is marching on.

I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnished rows of steel:
"As ye deal with my contemners, so with you my grace shall deal;
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel,
Since God is marching on.

Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Since God is marching on.

He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat;
He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment-seat:
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet!
Our God is marching on.

Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Our God is marching on.

In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me.
As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free,
While God is marching on.

Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
While God is marching on.

He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave,
He is Wisdom to the mighty, He is Succour to the brave,
So the world shall be His footstool, and the soul of Time His slave,
Our God is marching on.

Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Our God is marching on.

HEIL DIR IM SIEGERKRANZ, Germany
Heil dir im Siegerkranz,
Herrscher des Vaterlands!
Heil, Kaiser, dir!
Fühl in des Thrones Glanz
Die hohe Wonne ganz,
Liebling des Volks zu sein!
Heil Kaiser, dir!

Nicht Roß und Reisige
Sichern die steile Höh',
Wo Fürsten steh'n:
Liebe des Vaterlands,
Liebe des freien Manns
Gründen den Herrscher Thron
Wie Fels im Meer.

Heilige Flamme, glüh',
Glüh' und erlösche nie
Fürs Vaterland!
Wir alle stehen dann
Mutig für einen Mann,
Kämpfen und bluten gern
Für Thron und Reich!

Handel und Wissenschaft
Heben mit Mut und Kraft
Ihr Haupt empor!
Krieger- und Heldentat
Finden ihr Lorbeerblatt
Treu aufgehoben dort,
An deinem Thron!

Dauernder stets zu blüh'n
Weh' unsre Flagge kühn
Auf hoher See!
Ha, wie so stolz und hehr
Wirft über Land und Meer
Weithin der deutsche Aar
Flammenden Blick.

Sei, Kaiser von Deutschland, hier
Lang' deines Volkes Zier,
Der Menschheit Stolz!
Fühl' in des Thrones Glanz,
Die hohe Wonne ganz,
Liebling des Volkes zu sein!
Heil, Kaiser, dir!

DAS DEUTSCHLANDLEID, Germany
Deutschland, Deutschland über alles,
Über alles in der Welt,
Wenn es stets zu Schutz und Trutze
Brüderlich zusammenhält.
Von der Maas bis an die Memel,
Von der Etsch bis an den Belt,
Deutschland, Deutschland über alles,
Über alles in der Welt!

Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit
Für das deutsche Vaterland!
Danach lasst uns alle streben
Brüderlich mit Herz und Hand!
Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit
Sind des Glückes Unterpfand;
Stoßet an und ruft einstimmig,
Hoch, das deutsche Vaterland

Deutsche Frauen, deutsche Treue,
Deutscher Wein und deutscher Sang
Sollen in der Welt behalten
Ihren alten schönen Klang,
Uns zu edler Tat begeistern
Unser ganzes Leben lang.
Deutsche Frauen, deutsche Treue,
Deutscher Wein und deutscher Sang!

Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit
Für das deutsche Vaterland!
Danach lasst uns alle streben
Brüderlich mit Herz und Hand!
Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit
Sind des Glückes Unterpfand;

und aller Augen blitzen hell;

betritt kein Feind hier deinen Strand!

So führe uns, du bist bewährt;

AUFERSTANDEN AUS RUINEN, Germany
Auferstanden aus Ruinen
und der Zukunft zugewandt,
lasst uns Dir zum Guten dienen,
Deutschland, einig Vaterland.
Alte Not gilt es zu zwingen,
und wir zwingen sie vereint,
denn es muss uns doch gelingen,
dass die Sonne schön wie nie
über Deutschland scheint,
über Deutschland scheint.

Glück und Friede sei beschieden
Deutschland, unserm Vaterland.
Alle Welt sehnt sich nach Frieden,
reicht den Völkern eure Hand.
Wenn wir brüderlich uns einen,
schlagen wir des Volkes Feind.
Lasst das Licht des Friedens scheinen,
dass nie eine Mutter mehr
ihren Sohn beweint,
ihren Sohn beweint.

Lasst uns pflügen, lasst uns bauen,
lernt und schafft wie nie zuvor,
und der eignen Kraft vertrauend
steigt ein frei Geschlecht empor.
Deutsche Jugend, bestes Streben
unsres Volks in dir vereint,
wirst du Deutschlands neues Leben.
Und die Sonne schön wie nie
über Deutschland scheint,
über Deutschland scheint.

So, Shrill, I'm thinking that Goliad will work out like real-life; the Americaner Texians will hold the fort but find themselves under severe pressure, will attempt a retreat but end up caught and encircled in the middle of a field, where they are pretty much massacred.

If I had considered that I'd have sent a Boer commander to make a mythology concerning them...but as it is Pretorius will come in the next major assault...perhaps.

As you've probably noticed by now I'm trying to make a legend about the Boers that will last long after this overzealous fellow is dealt with.

Mostly it's that the British send them in when they want especially brutal work done due to their being especially savage. Complete nonsense of course, but Potgeiter's exploits in Texas will make them seem more vicious...especially when they near the Alamo.

If we get around to the Suez, we will probably allow members of the Asian Trade League to use the canal without paying any duties, as well as Egypt, whilst those without membership in the league will need to pay a high fee, while we will ban Austria from using the canal, because, you know, Austria.

Good with the free passage for the ATL. Means Japan doesn't have to fuck around with punitive action to reduce Chinese power.

You can take Slovenia(known at this time as Carniola) and Croatia(known usually as either Illyria or Dalmatia) and maybe even Bosnia(known as Bosnia); I'll take modern day Austria and the Czech Republic(the latter of which was called Bohemia and Moravia)?

Good with the free passage for the ATL. Means Japan doesn't have to fuck around with punitive action to reduce Chinese power.

Also means Germany doesn't have to pick sides.

I'm thinking that you two don't get to war until 1840, when the Prussian slightly pro-Chinese emperor dies and is replaced with a very pro-Japanese(or pro-Chinese, haven't decided) emperor.

We'll likely do an attack on Sakhalin, and then from there, after we cut off Japanese supply lines to Sakhalin, try and it take over and make it part of the Kingdom of Manchuria, while Qing spies will attempt to instigate an uprising in Korea and Taiwan.

Neither of which will work, since ever since Benjamin Franklin came to Japan, the Koreans have been feeling rather happy under the jackboot of the Empire... that and the Taiwanese Chinese don't want to be ruled by the Manchus.

Yeah, and they're allowed to retain Korean names. Japanese, Korean and the Taiwanese dialect of Chinese are all taught in schools across the Empire, as they're the three "main languages" -- Children are encouraged to learn all three, even Japanese children, since it opens up diplomatic careers and allows them to work in the other major parts of the empire.

Languages like Tagalog aren't supressed either, they're just not seen as "relevant to day-to-day action" in the Empire, so they're just... there.

Benjamin Franklin is well known in Korea for encouraging Japan and Korea to reconcile and form one nation. That's why when Akiko dies, the official name of the state will become the United Kingdom of East Asia (modeled after Britain's system, which George, the next Emperor is a very strong supporter of.)

Maybe it'll be earlier than that. At the meeting I'm going to try and initiate the first rumblings that will lead to the Opium War, if it can be carried out with the ATL in existence.

Another scheisse-ridden rip off from Britain:

George is "Prince of Hokkaido" this is basically Japan's equivalent to "Prince of Wales", which signifies the heir to Britain.
"Shogun" has become a term referring to a titular Duchy (much like how William is Duke of Cambridge?).

For reminder:
George, Prince of Hokkaido, age 50, wearing his deceased father's uniform.
Alexander Hiroshi, Shogun of Kyushu, age 16
Princess Victoria, Princess of Wales, age 16, self portrait.
Empress Akiko, age 81, official state portrait, 1833

Yes, the Japanese Imperial Family has basically become Anglicized. You won't see a Japanese-ethnic monarch until Alexander I dies (he'll be succeeded by his son, Emperor Mutsuhito (aka Meiji))

The Azuma Dialect of English is complex, it doesn't sound like OTL British English, or OTL American English, or OTL Japanglish (with terrible pronunciation). It's some strange mixture. They fortunately, get the R's and L's right.

I haven't decided how to treat race relations in Germany
In the Confederacy, though, Protestant Whites and Asians(because of the ATL respect America has for Japan) will be on top, with the whites having the most power and a vocal Asian minority in the Californias; below them will be the Mestizos(that is, very loosely defined, most Latinos), all Catholics, Jews, and Muslims, and the double-crossed Native Americans, who will be segregated against; and at the bottom will be blacks. Until 1889, when the CSA illegalizes slavery, adding blacks to the list of segregated-against peoples.

Women and Catholics will be granted full rights in 1923 and 1931; I'm thinking that all discrimination will be illegalized in 1976ish.
