From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd,
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers.

Greetings, and welcome to Band of Brothers, an RP based off the popular novel/miniseries of the same name. Like the novel and miniseries, this RP will follow Easy Company(a division of the 101st Airborne, meaning they're paratroopers) from D-Day all the way to the Eagle's Nest in Austria(if the RP doesn't die before then). In this, we will come up with our own characters to take the roles of the soldiers of Easy Company, and we will develop our characters as the war changes them. The RP will focus heavily on character development to show the bond between the men of E-Company. The co-OP is Rynagria. Here's the rules and app format:
1. As OP, my word is law.
2. No godmodding, metagaming, etc.
3. Characters who are inactive or show no personality will be killed off.
4. Characters will occasionally be killed off to develop other characters, the person who RPed said character will be allowed to reapply as their replacement.
5. You may only have one character at a time.
6. The co-OP has all the rights that I have, but i can overturn their decisions.

Rank: First Lieutenant
Role: Rifleman
Weaponry: M1 Garand, M1911 pistol, two M2 frag grenades
Personality: Very cari for the men under his command, deeply affected by injuries or death among his men, known to be very hard on soldiers who don't do their duty
Bio: James grew up in Pittsburgh, proving in school to be very adept when it comes to planning, organization and tactics. His parents were divorced by the time he took his first step, leading him to always want to meet his father. In school he was constantly bullied due to how smart he was, but alongside his brain his body was also in great shape. He constantly worked out so he could be like the father he never knew and join the army. He attended West Point in 1939, as war was breaking out in Europe. Now, 3 years later, he has been assigned to E Company, currently being trained by Captain Herbert Sobel in Camp Toccoa.

Cylarn

Age: 31.
Role: Squad Leader.
Weaponry: He carries an M1 Thompson Submachine Gun, a Colt M1911A1 Service Pistol, and a fighting knife.
Personality: When out on a mission, Farrell is a stern, no-nonsense NCO who looks out for his men. When not out on the field, he's a friendly guy who is more than willing to turn a blind eye to pranks, if they will increase morale.

Bio: Farrell grew up in the mountains of North Carolina, specifically in the city of Morganton. His father worked as a doctor, and the family lived the easy life in the suburbs of Morganton, at least until the Great Depression. In order to make ends meet, he helped his father produce moonshine, until his father was arrested by the law in 1930. At that point, young Russ joined the Army in order to escape from both the law and the Mob. He was initially attached to a tank unit and rose through the ranks rather fast. When the US entered World War II and the Army began forming Airborne units, Farrell volunteered for the unit on the premise that he would receive extra pay, as was a common motivation for soldiers to join Airborne units.

Holy Empire of Avalon

Age: 21
Role: Medic
Weaponry: Colt M1911 pistol and a Browning Automatic Rifle BAR
Personality: Strong willed, would dive on a grenade without a second thought for his brothers in arms

Bio: Robert enlisted in the Army wanting to serve his country and help the men already fighting the war, he aspired to be a boxer and is still pretty good with hand to hand, he is good with a pistol but still had some work to do with a machine gun, he would gladly dive on top of a grenade to save his brothers.
Anything else: He has never had a significant other and therefore has no regrets at taking the most dangerous of missions.

Rynagria

Age: 23
Role: Radio Operator, but doubles as a Rifleman on missions that doesn't require the use of radio equipment (technician 5th grade)
Weaponry: M1A1 Carbine, Colt M1911A1, M3 Fighting/Trench Knife, Three Mk. 2 Fragmentation Grenades
Personality: Eli is a by the book soldier, who will not second guess any of his superiors orders, but will speak out when he considers the officer in charge is being illogical. A quiet person, Eli can often be found reading a book or a manual of some sort when not in combat. When it comes to conversations, he is uncomfortable when talking to people directly about things other than the war. He also tends to look down upon any soldier who doesn't does a poor job at their duties or being efficient, he will also try to correct an individual if he notice something that against rules.

Bio:Born in San Diego, California, Elijah attended Stanford until he joined the Paratroopers in 1942. There, he joined the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Divison, where he excelled in the use of both portable and stationary radio equipment. This is what he often says when talking about his past, usually leaving out huge chunks of details about his life. The whole reason is because of him coming from a strict family from a long line of soldiers, who never really talked about anything, but the conflicts they were involved in. In turn Eli never learned how to formally socialize and is awkward when doing so.

The Ferret Revolution

Age: 16
Role: medic
Weaponry: Colt 1911, trench knife
Personality: naive, young, intelligent

Bio: Eugene was born in rural Pennsylvania to a family of Quakers where he spent his entire life never leaving the state even once. As WWII rolled in Eugene often found himself daydreaming of him as a war hero running through field mowing down Germans in Holland or France but his pacifist parents would always ruin these dreams with talks of "Violence solves nothing." and "You have a dedication to your family first. Let others fight the war." Yet soon enough after pearl harbor Eugene found himself all but alone in the village as all of his friends either joined up with the service or got drafted. Though through all of his begging his parents were adamant that he stay home to care for his brother and sisters. Eugene refused to let this stop him though. After a quick talk with his uncle he was on his way to the recruitment office and soon into a uniform of the United States Army. Though despite his pride in accomplishing his dream of joining up he still remains rather annoyed at his placement of medic... medics rarely make war heroes.
Anything else: Eugene has a brother, Phillip, that I want to incorporate into the story later. If you mean equipment he carries a picture of his family and as much medical supplies as he can get.

Krazakistan

Age: 19
Role: Rifleman
Weaponry: M1 Garand
Other equipment besides weapon: Nothing much except for the standard paratrooper gear.
Personality: Jonathon is a the kinda guy that can always make the best out of a bad situation, always used humor to lighten the mood, but whenever he gets into combat all of that humor goes out the window and he'll do whatever it takes to make sure him, and his comrades, make it out alive. He's also very friendly, he enjoys making friends and having friends.

Bio: Jonathon Ward was born and grew up in a small town in rural New Jersey. He graduated high school at the top of his class but he never liked school. He come's from a military family so he's happy to serve his country. He never bought into the propaganda about the Germans so he doesn't hate them as much as his friends back home do.

United Kingdom of Poland

Age: 20
Role: mortarmen, at least I think thats what he was in the series
Weaponry: M1 carbine, mortar rounds
Personality: two words, smart-ass

Bio: Donald Malarkey was born in Astoria, Oregon to Leo Malarkey, and Helen Trask in 1921. Don attended Star of the Sea, a Catholic school in Astoria, where he excelled as an athlete, most notably as point guard on the basketball team.[2] He graduated from Astoria High School in 1939. As a youth, he worked on a purse seiner crew on the Columbia River. He also was a volunteer firefighter during the destructive Tillamook Burn forest fire, which destroyed thousands of acres of Oregon timber. He was in his first semester at the University of Oregon in the fall of 1941 when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.
Anything else: yeah, talk about irony, a smart-ass polack Rping as a smart-ass irishmen, one thing for certain, at no time will this character develope a tan.

Communists for the people (CFTP)

Age: 18
Role: Rifleman
Weaponry: M1 Garand
Personality: Shy, quiet, and energetic

Bio: Born in Chicago, Arthur grew up during the depression. His family was hit hard by the depression and they struggled to make an honest living. In school the classrooms were awfully kept and the teachers were cruel and grossly under paid. When Arthur went into high school he was a big bragger, but that all changed when his father, a heavy drinker, died of liver failure. Now Arthur, his two siblings, and his mom were on there own. The upside was that Arthur's mother was employed as a secretary for a rich business owner. After that Arthur didn't see much of his because often she came home late and left for work early. Arthur vowed to keep up his grades and keep in good physical condition. When Arthur turned eighteen he joined the paratroops, a little known branch at the time, and was assigned to the 101st airborne.

Zeinbrad

Age:20
Role:Riflemen
Weaponry:M1 Garand,M1911.
Personality:Somewhat panicky during combat, but a hell of a Marksmen. Jokester

Bio:Daniel Walker was born to a military family in Limerick PA, it was tradition for the Walker family to go into military service, and that was what Daniel did when he came into age to join the military, Walker is kind of panicky during combat, expassically if the thing is not going his squad way, but he is one hell of a marksmen.
Anything else:"My god! We got Jerries everywhere!"

Weltmachtistan

Age: 23
Appearance: At 6'4, 245 pounds, he certainly lives up to his nickname. He generally wears a combat gest, along with crossed bandoliers. An oversized helmet upon his head, with quite a few tallies scratched upon it, needless to say a kill-count. His combat pants holding a few tears.
Role: Machine-Gunner
Weaponry: Browning M1919A4, 1911, a couple grenades, and a Bowie knife
Personality: Some may describe him with more... vulgar words. But, Grizzly us an absolute blessing upon the battlefield, all he needs us guys throwing handgrenades at him for the rest of his days.

Bio: Grizzly, earning his nickname through the gutteral grunting heard throughout the battlefield when he gets his hands on the enemy. And, quite frankly, because he looks like a bear. Grizzly was one of the few men put on this Earth, who were simply born for war. His love of lighting up enemy encampments with 50 caliber rounds is... Uncanny to say the least. Despite his rough edges, he is a powerful force on the battlefield, much to his enjoyment.
Anything else: Ready to collect me some Nazi skulls, sir!

Stovilium

Age: 25
Rank: Private FIrst Class
Role: Anti-Armour
Weaponry: M1 Garand, M1A1 Bazooka, 2 Fragmention Hand Grenades, Trench knife
Personality: Defiantly sociable, however with a slight sociopathic vibe to him in the form of humour and a lack of empathy. Will mess around and play jokes on friends, however his sense of humour tends to seep into the battlefield, seemingly due to his fondness of explosives. Still, he can be depended on to get a mission completed if need be

Bio: A city boy, raised in Manhattan for the most of his life, and spent a great deal of it in the wake of the great depression. Luckier than some other families, at least they still managed to have some food and water to consume every day, as his family had not invested everything they had into the stock market. Scraping by in a small apartment was never the life Buck had thought out as a child, and so when war loomed over he jumped at the chance to be something more and joined the airborne. His fondness for explosives and explosions lead him down the path to anti-armour, with the slight socipathical side to him being a primary benefit.
Anything else: Ready to blow stuff up at a moments notice!

Ausira

Age: 21
Role: Paratrooper Foot-Soldier (No Special Role)
Weaponry: M1 Garand with attached bayonet, field-knife, multiple ammunition clips in his shirt-pockets. No other weapons
Personality: Blithe is a kid-at-heart, given his appearance. Mostly in the face of danger, he'll cower and hide. When he trusts and individual, immediately, a secret comes out. Usually, when and if a firefight occurs, he's down in the foxhole, hiding off on his own. When casual events go on and/or occur, Blithe is usually one to stand his ground, at times, but usually isn't one of the offensive guys. Usually, Blithe keeps to himself, and isn't a leader at all in this time and age.

Bio: Born in the city of Philly, Pennsylvania on June 25th, 1923, Albert Blithe, after completing 3 years of High-School had left and dropped out to join the army. He enlisted for the paratroopers in Mid-August, on the 18th of 1942 in his hometown of Philadelphia.

Volvek

Age: 23
Role: Infantryman, designated sniper.
Main weapon: M1903A4, M1911, KA-BAR.
Equipment besides weapons: Leather tubular case with different scopes and tightening tools, cigarettes, Ace of Spades card that he usually tucks in his helmet band, deck of cards, bible, photograph of wife.

Bio: Private Daniel Jackson is an American soldier from West Fork, Tennessee. He is a designated sniper, armed with a M1903A4 Springfield Rifle. Apparently from the southern U.S., he appears to be a devout Christian, quoting scripture from the Bible while applying his skills in combat.

Neurlant

Age: 17
Role: Rifleman
Weaponry: M1-Garand.
Personality: Quiet and rather reserved, non confrontational, relatively devout Catholic, but tolerant of other religions.

Bio: Heinrich Wittig was born in the town of Coswig in what was then the Weimar Republic and is now (Objectively speaking of course) Nazi Germany, his family had lived in Saxony for many generations as prosperous farmers and merchants, during the Great War, his father, uncles and some older cousins fought in the Imperial German Army, and came home relatively intact, only a missing limb or two across the family, a few years after the war his parents met, got married, settled down and without going into much detail, had Heinrich, as well as a daughter Eva and a younger son named Karl, they had an alright upbringing, if a bit deprived of many luxuries, thought that was common at the time, especially in Germany, which was deep in debt over war reparations with the Allies (FRANCE) and add to that the Wall Street crash in 1929 and the following recession, it was not a good time to run a business.

In 1932, when the family farm was closed down, and with few alternatives, the family looked to the America, the land of opportunity, and they moved to Dresden, Tennessee, which sounded sufficiently Germanic, at this time Heinrich was six, Eva was four and Karl was three, it was hard at first, but with the U.S. being the melting pot it is, they quickly adapted, learnt English and basically became American, with the rise of National Socialism in Germany they faced a little hostility from locals, but there were always a few disgruntled country folk who rather liked the anti-jewish, anti-immigrant and anti-communist stance.

By the time the war in Europe started, the family had grown to include twins, Georg and Lukas and Heinrich was still in school, they were by no means Nazi-sympathisers, but at that time the segregation of Jews in Germany into ghettos was not that different from the segregation of blacks in the U.S., but this was before that drug addicted chicken farmer Himmler came up with the Final Solution, so the Holocaust was just warming up, they spoke German around the home and English in public and they had almost lost their accents, only the odd w or j gave Heinrich away by now, the Wittig children were fine little Yanks (Well, Southerners, but still American) and not in the least bit fanatical.

During the war they prayed for the safety of their family still in Germany, but also that Hitler's regime was toppled as bloodlessly as possible and Germany was returned to being a strong, stable democracy with the benefit of all Germans, Jewish and Gentile in mind, just because they lived in America didn't mean they couldn't have a bit of patriotic support for the Vaterland. :p

By the American entry into the war in 1941, Heinrich was almost out of high school and all was as well, he wanted to join the army for several reasons, such as defending his new country, going with his friends and a simple boyish urge for adventure, but he was still too young and waited until he looked old enough to lie about his age and join, during the recruitment he was given the option of being a regular infantryman or a paratrooper, and what young kid wants to walk everywhere?

Now Heinrich is seventeen and a hopeful paratrooper in training, he knows he will have to fight and almost certainly kill his countrymen, but on the other hand, if someone shoots at you, you're going to defend yourself no matter who they are, he doesn't relish the thought of accidentally killing some distant relation, but it is necessary to bring peace and stability to the world.

Buyan

Age: 18
Role: Regular rifleman
Weaponry: M1 Carbine, a Gammon, a few grenades, a .45
Personality: More of an observator than a talker, more a follower than a leader but supportive to those in need.

Bio: Elmer Loewenthal was born in Brussels, Belgium as only son of a Jewish couple. He grew up in the city centre with his mother and little sister alone, as his father died of tuberculosis when he was only three. Due to his mother working, he mainly had to survive on himself. It caused him to be street-wise, but it also made him detect a major problem: lung problems, just like his dad. In 1939, at the age of fifteen, his mother orders him to move to the USA near his uncle and aunt who own a small business in Iowa. This completely new environment, in a small village, never really was his thing. He had trouble understanding the other people and this caused him to develop a more quiet side. He still carries a minor accent, but you wouldn't notice it if you don't know it.
He had made plans to return to Europe by the time he was eighteen, but the war prevented this. He hasn't seen his mother or sister since the day he parted and that is one of the motivations that inspired him to join the US Army and to go to war. He managed to trick the medical controls upon his lung issues, but he still is among the weaker ones in the squad. However, he makes up in stubborness, having a clear target.

So please, if this appeals to you, by all means join!

Tag. Also it should probably be mentioned that Easy Company soldiers are paratroopers for those that don't know. Also will we be going through the first few disks with Currahe and such.
We're all mad here.

We're probably going to be doing Currahee, although it would focus less on the training and more on the men getting to know each other.

Not to be a bit of an annoyance to you, but wouldn't it be risky for an officer to be carrying a BAR? Because it makes him a bigger target in combat because he has a support weapon?

Also tag.

No problem, it's just I remembered from reading somewhere that the average life span of a BAR operator was 30 minutes or something in combat. But I think that might have been for the marines though........ :geek:

When exactly does this start? I have not watched the show in a long while, from memory I know that they did some stuff in the camp, and if we are doing that first, can anyone tell me when the 101st were in training? For my guys bio.

Also, spotted an error in the OP, you said that Easy Company was a division of the 101st, which made me  because divisions typically have between 10 and 30 thousand men, I think you meant company, not harm done though, just being a nitpicker.

I thought there three typical armaments of officers? The M1 Garand, M1/M1A1 Thompson, or the M1/M1A1 carbine.

It wasn't uncommon to see officers with Garands or Carbines or probably even Grease Guns(since they were so cheap to produce that when they malfunctioned a soldier could just toss it and get a new one), but it was the most common for an officer to carry a Thomson.

Nation name: Rynagria
Character name: Elijah "Eli" T. Patterson
Age: 23
Appearance:
Image

Rank: Technician 5th Grade (Addressed as Corporal and Tech Corporal)
Role: Radio Operator, but doubles as a Rifleman on missions that doesn't require the use of radio equipment.
Weaponry:
-M1A1 Carbine
-Colt M1911A1
-M3 Fighting/Trench Knife
-Three Mk.

Also, spotted an error in the OP, you said that Easy Company was a division of the 101st, which made me  because divisions typically have between 10 and 30 thousand men, I think you meant company, not harm done though, just being a nitpicker.

I don't know the dates to be honest and they aren't necessary in his bio.

I just chose 16 because it allows for some nice character development. I did the complete opposite of what most people do and didn't try to stuff his bio his with random war experience.

Very interested.

Nation name: Ausira
Character name: Albert Blithe
Age: 21
Appearance:
Image

Rank: Private

Role: Paratrooper Foot-Soldier (No Special Role)

Weaponry: M1 Garand with attached bayonet, field-knife, multiple ammunition clips in his shirt-pockets. No other weapons
.

Anything else: Sorry for the short Bio. This is literally, all that I could find of his youth. Not much is there about him, other than he died in West Germany, and his experiences with the men in Easy Company. As, also in the show, he did "Die" in the third episode. (In reality, he went to a hospital and was given the purple heart in 1945. Everyone in Easy Company thought he died in 1948, but in reality, he died in 1967, in West Germany to go to the remains of the Battle of the Bulge, and where it was taken place.)

QUESTION: Shouldn't Spear also be a Lieutenant/Senior NCO as he was in the show? Red only got promoted since the previous Senior CO of Easy Company was killed, and they needed someone to fill Red's old spot.

No not at all. My character isn't from the movie. I mean I may have used Eugene Roe's picture and stole his first name but the character is my own make.

Also I just noticed that almost everyone here so far is from Pennsylvania... my state suddenly became very popular :p

Well, if so... there's still the two favorite CO's (Winters & Nixon), the Sgt's, the Italian soldiers, Bull, Sobel and those lovable Privates.

E: (To Ferret) I'm basing mine off the real Albert Blithe.

My app probably won't be accepted, its pretty ridiculous as my guy is blatantly German, but from http://ww2talk.com/forums/topic/14987-churchills-german-army/ I know there were Jerries in at least the British army, would anyone mind if I continue with this or should I scrap it and be a red neck from Tennessee? ((My back up for everything))

Well... there were German speaking Americans in the Army, and German Americans in the Army... full-blood German, I don't know. (As in, German accent with it) Its risky, and I'm sure in real life, he would've been shot by his own men. Cause know... America was still racist at this time, and if you are the ethnicity/background of the people you are fighting, odds are... racism would ensue.

E: Also, know that it's very hard to become a NCO when its Peace-Time, and you start from Private going up. Its very very hard to become an NCO when its wartime, unless your current NCO wants to be a total idiot. So, know... its risky going through a "Private up the ranks" in peacetime.
