If Rome had never fallen, it would likely have become like China, which was its own Rome-like figure (and then later more than that, as it grew larger and more powerful than Rome had ever been) and just end up causing the stagnation of the region in the long run due to the lack of competition.

It's not unheard of. Basically the Romans never fall and eventually take over much of the world with superior technology.
