Mass Effect: Leviathan Rising OOC

Postby Rightful Revolution » Tue Jul 23, 2013 5:06 pm

IC: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=254281
Welcome back to the Mass Effect universe! A daunting 40 years have passed since the great Commander Shepard braved the Reaper threat and opted to destroy the Milky Way's greatest threat. But even with the Reaper's gone, the struggle for survival and prosperity is just as large. Billions were dead, and homeworlds, Relays, and the Citadel lay in a state of disarray. It took 10 ten years for Humanity to reconstruct the Sol Relay and reestablish contact the Asari, but progress has been quick and the Council, now expanded, now retains power just as before. The Leviathans, however, now free of the Reaper threat themselves, are not going to sit by and allow "lesser" species assert their dominance. Having indoctrinated and uplifted the formidable Yahg, the Leviathans now threaten what progress has been made by the re-fledgling civilizations.

Rules:
1. Standard forum rules
2. NO ONE LINERS
3. Co-Ops carry my authority

Brief Notes:
-Takes places 30 years ME3
-The Citadel is currently in orbit around Earth, still undergoing repairs
-The Council has been revised, following an uproar from several species that due to the events of the Reaper war, more species deserve representation. Humans, Turians, Salarians, Asari, Volus, Elcor, Hanar, and Quarians are now all Council species.
-The Krogan have repopulated peacefully, and have managed to colonize, albeit on a small scale, several other worlds.
-Quarians on Rannoch
-Batarians, after having the Hegemony destroyed by the Reapers, have fractured into several states: some Democratic, some not.
-Small pockets of the Geth survived, although due to the Geth's new sentient nature, replicating themselves has proven difficult, and they remain in population similar to the Quarians.
-Rachni have survived, but remain isolated.
-Raloi have been recontacted; survived the Reaper war intact
-Omega intact
-Vorcha still out'n'about
-All major Mass Relays have been rebuilt, including those to the Terminus systems. Smaller, more isolated systems may or may not be connected.
-Earth is a hot bed of activity, given the location of the Citadel
-The Presidium and 2 other Wards have been rebuilt
-Illium still remains a dominant corporate powerhouse

Player Controlled Council Members:
-Humans: Rightful Revolution
-Asari: Pantrixnia
-Salarian: Murrica Ville
-Turian: Brusia
-Volus: Honor
-Hanar: Mass Effect
-Quarian: The Digel
-Elcor: Cryptonius
-Geth: Callum

Name: Commander Clark (While having no formal military background, his "title" was given to him as a nickname, in which the crew jokingly calls him either Commander or Clark)

Age: 31

Gender: Male

Species: Human

Appearance: Clark is of Caucasian origin, having rather tanned skin, brown eyes, and spiked dirty blond hair. He stands a formidable 6'4, although his lean nature does little to inspire fear in his enemies. Typically, he dresses in civilian clothing, generally sporting popular fashion trends when not in combat gear.

Specialization: Sentinel

Personality: Clark is sharp, cunning, and loyal. While he does have an ingrained passion for others, particularly aliens, Clark will, and has been known too betray close acquaintances that threatened his goals. His greatest loyalty lies in his crew: whom he considers to be closer than family. Clark is severely open-minded as well, and obsessed with diversity and information. In fact, Clark nearly in-sighted a mutiny among his crew (a rare occurrence) when he hired a down-on-his-luck Vorcha welder to the join team.

Home World: Earth

Affiliation: Agent of the Council

Short Bio: Clark was born and raised in the remnats of the former U.S. in New York City. He developed an early fascination early on with aliens and space, and was eventually allowed to study on an Asari colony famed for its inter-species population. It was here Clark pursued a career in diplomacy/economics, and met his close friend, Tomol: An ambitious Volus that would eventually encompass Clark's intra-galactic journeys. Clark graduated with Tomol and the two decided to pool their resources and purchase a very old and poor functioning Quarian ship. Tomol managed to secure business runs, and Clark ran whatever goods needed to be exchanged. The two eventually made quite the small fortune, and upgraded to a larger ship before eventually finding the Manhattan. While they do not inherently smuggle or carry illegal goods, Clark and Tomol carry out any mission that pays well and does not risk significant involvement with the law. Clark's reputation eventually made it's way to the newly reformed Council, and has since been contracted to serve under their authority.

Weapons: Standard pistol and M-15 Vindicator assault rifle

Ship: The Manhattan

Ship Crew Number: 20
-1 V.I. intelligence named Cindy

-1 Asari First Mate
-1 Asari Medical Doctor
-1 Krogan weapons/combat coordinator
-1 Vorcha welder
-2 Batarian Ship Systems experts (man the Manhattan's weapons in times of attack)
-1 Volus Economic Assistant (Basically handles the ships financial operations)
-3 Human soldiers
-1 Elcor & Salarian Mechanic
-2 Geth Systems Analysts

Ship Class: Heavy Frigate

Ship Model: Charon-class

Ship Armament:

Name: Rolfe Deloray

Age: 37

Gender: Male

Species: Human

Specialization: Infiltrator

Appearance: Light build, bright green eyes, and rather subtle, angular features. Muted black hair reaching just above his shoulders that Rolfe only rarely grooms properly. Generally, he will make use of medium Predator VIII armor when in combat situations.

Personality: On the surface, Rolfe appears to be a well-adjusted individual. He is courteous to those around him, quite sociable, and generally quite kind. However, beneath the surface Rolfe is driven by his desire for subtle thrills, often acquired by causing suffering in those he is not familiar with. Though he appreciates the profit he turns from selling illicit substances, he enjoys the idea of his drugs eventually causing decay in their users. Lying, some theft, and general dishonesty give him a similar sensation of thrill, though not as strong.

Home World: New Canton

Affiliation: Independent

Short Bio: Rolfe was born to a large family in one of the many colonies of New Canton. Old enough to be assumed responsible on his own, and young enough to not be expected to take care of his younger siblings, Rolfe was often left to his own devices as a child. In this time, he found enjoyment in three things: petty theft, lying, and tinkering with broken devices that he took from dumpsters. As soon as he could, Rolfe bought a ticket and headed to Illium, hoping to find work at a shop specializing in small appliances. He was eventually employed by a fair, though ornery turian, and worked at his shop for several years. Over these years, he would sometimes slightly modify certain items so that they might break down in a heated gunfight, or even overheat to the point of combustion while in the user's hands. These modifications were just infrequent enough that the connection between those flawed products and Rolfe was not made.

After years of working at the shop though, Rolfe told his employer that he was done there, and promptly left. He had been approached by a human calling himself Alfred offering to supply him with drugs in exchange for a substantial cut of the profits. Rolfe might not have accepted the offer as it was, but the deal also included a (painfully outdated) Alliance frigate which Alfred claimed that he would be able to acquire from certain sources. The only condition was that Rolfe pay for a third of the ship. With money that he had inadvertently been saving, Rolfe was able to pay this sum, and has been selling various illegal substances for several years now. Rolfe currently has hopes to begin buying supplies independently, but has so far been unable to as a result of Alfred demanding compensation for his services.

Weapons: A M-92 Mantis, and a M-6 Carnifex

Ship: Kail Ragtag

Ship Crew Number: A total of fifteen people.
Five humans, two salarians, and one asari doing a variety of relatively small, but necessary jobs around the ship.
Two turians and one salarian who mainly work in engineering
A batarian pilot called Rakil, whom also serves as a back-up gunman as well as Rolfe's closest confidant.
Rolfe himself.
One asari commando called Cerri whom is a hired mercenary specializing in biotics.
One krogan called Toreg whom is a hired mercenary.
One human called Lugus whom is a hired mercenary specializing in weaponry of all kinds.

Ship Class: Light frigate

Ship Model: Originally, it was an already outdated Alliance frigate, but over time, and with a huge amount of modifications (not all for the better, ultimately) the craft no longer closely resembles any specific type of frigate.

Ship Armament: Multiple GARDIAN anti-missile and anti-fighter laser turrets of varying models, placed around the hull, and kinetic barriers.

Ship Markings or Sigil: None

Other Notable Ship Features: None that come to mind.

You're obviously accepted, although, if you want too, you need to decide which race you'd like to represent in the Council.

Your character is not a member of the Council, your Council member is just a way for you to help decide in a larger way the RP will develop.

Example: Our characters rediscovers the Rachni, stuff happens, the Council (us) can then vote on what to do. Instead of me just deciding everything.

Ah, I see what you're saying now. How did I not understand that at first? Oh, well. I suppose I'd like to claim the elcor council member in that case, if I could.

My Geth app will be up SOON.I know I said that before, but it needs to be changed due to Rp changes and things.

Would I be able to claim the Quarians on the council? But also could we have the Geth trying to get their own seat on the council? (Doesn't matter whether they get on or not, I just think they should want it)

It only seems logical they would be interest in a seat, but given the Geth's history, it probably won't happen in the near future.

EDIT: But the great thing about the format of this RP is the player controlled Council. If you want the Geth to have a seat so badly, encourage the rest of us to hold a vote!

I may or may not join this, but if I do, I would like to ask: Which ending was canon? Seeing as the Geth aren't blow'd up, I assume it wasn't Destroy, and for obvious reasons it wasn't Refuse, but that still leaves some options.

-Rachni have survived, but remain isolated.

-Vorcha still out'n'about

I also think it'd be cool that every player be given control of a Council member, given the Council has expanded so much.

Towards the end of his time as a cadet, one of the Migrant Fleet's vessels, the 'Eversham', became seperated during a mass relay jump, and the Halfleur was dispatched to investigate. As it happened, 'Eversham' had lost engine power and a team of Baterian pirates were in the process of boarding her; 'Halfleur' was able to draw the attention of several Baterian corvettes and a lone frigate untill a Flotilla cruiser arrived to settle the dispute. During the action several Halfleur crew members, including Vasya, earned accolades from both the Admiralty Board and the crew of the 'Eversham'.

On his pilgrimage, Vasya traveled to the Citadel before enlisting to the crew of a Human freighter, 'MSV Appalonius Runner' as an engineer. After 18 months aboard the Human ship, Vasya, alongside several Human shipmates, discovered that their Captain had been illigally smuggling red sand for years, in fact catching him in the act of bringing several suspect packages aboard on Omega. When they confronted him about it, just a short distance out from the Citadel, the captain and a few other corrupt officers reacted by opening fire on the unarmed crew in the mess hall. As the survivors fled to the lowwer decks, baracading themselves in the engine room, Vasya deactivated the ship's mass effect core and other systems, leaving only bare minimum life support running; faced with the darkness and the prospect of imminent death-by-vacuum, the perpetrators surrendered and were handed over to C-Sec shortly afterwards.

With the loss of her captain and a large proportion of her crew, 'MSV Appalonius Runner' was turned over to Vasya, who brought it back to the Migrant Fleet to end his pilgrimage, with the rest of the human crew members either deserting or being paid off with the reward money. Once back with the fleet, Vasya was soon introduced to the newly-completed 'Dontz' by Admiral Rael'Zorah, who had apparently served in the same gunboat squadron as Vasya during his cadet years. 'Dontz' was a large upgrade over the 'Halfleur', which belonged to a previous generation, and Vasya swiftly fell in love with his new vessel (it's a Quarian thing...), forming her crew with a few fellow recent pilgrimage-returnees with a couple of more experienced officers in Fire Control and First Mate.

More recently, Dontz carried out secret reconnaissance missions against Sovereign and the Geth before and during the Battle of the Citadel, quietly passing their finding to the Citadel Council's Special Tactics and Recon department. In the aftermath of the campaign, Dontz exploited the gap left in Geth lines to penatrate the Persius Veil and spent several days monitoring Geth activity and defences around Rannoch. After the destruction of the Normandy SR-1, Dontz was the closest avalabe Quarian ship to extract Tali'Zorah, daughter of Admiral Rael'Zorah, Vasya's sponsor.

Currently, Vasya and the rest of Dontz's crew are aboard the Migrant Fleet, having recently attended the funerel of Admiral Rael'Zorah, and are awaiting orders from the Admiralty Board; it's the closest most Quarians get to shore leave and a chance to get some maintenance done on their ship, as well as their personal relationships.

UPDATED: Prior to the war against the Geth, Vasya and the Dintz were tasked with retreving errant pilgrims to top up the fleet's manpower. This did lead to a minor incident on Omega, in which the Dontz boarded then destroyed an Illium-registered Asari trade ship reported to contain indentured servant Quarians; the pilgrims were retrieved and Dontz barely made it through the mass relay before the situation turned hostile. Luckily, no connection was officialy made between the Dontz and this incident, which was blamed on pirates then promptly forgotten about during the Reaper War.

During the actual return to Rannoch, Dontz was installed with a new electronic warfare suite and used to jam Geth ships from behin their lines, using her thermal camoflage to remain undetected. However, after the Geth Reaper re-indoctrination, Dontz was pulle back with most of the fleet's corvettes to shield the liveships from Geth fighters. By the end of the war, Dontz had suffered heavy damage and was forced into drydock while Vasya became involved as a pioneer setting up the first Quarian colonies on Rannoch.

By the time of the Battle of Earth, Dontz, now sporting a Thanix cannon developed from captured Geth schematics, was deployed to escort first-wave ground forces to the surface around central London. However, during a ground-atrack run, Dontz was hit by Reaper AA fire and crash-landed near Whitehall. After this, Vasya dismounted his crew before linking up on foot with nearby Alliance Marines in their London FOB.

After the battle, Dontz was packed into the hold of a Turian carrier and taken back to Rannoch where she underwent repairs and refitting for the second time in a year. In the time since, Vasya has become involved in Quarian colonisation efforts on Rannoch, even studying pre-exodus ruins on Hallström to help his people re-learn skills needed for planetary living.

It's an alternate Destroy ending.

Everyone is accepted, even though Digel your math doesn't add up

Callum, I will allow you to be a Geth lobbyist, but it's up to you to secure a vote from the rest of us.

Yeah, I know my character's technically too young, but I was hoping to raise this as I think 40 years seems a bit long to me; wouldn't 5 or 10 allow all the changes you mentioned but still make the events of the ME trillogy very relevent?

Plus, you missed a letter, it's 'maths' :)

I guess I could scale down the timeline to 30 years, but it takes time to rebuild planets and Relays.

Dijel, maybe you could put your characters in cryogenic suspension or something for 40 years, that way their backstories don't change, but it also doesn't require another rewrite of the story
