How so? No one else was doing it and I was running out of military things to introduce. Since we moved into the 2000's, somebody needed to do it. And you don't have to counter me. (Honestly, hardly anyone else invents things anyway. It's like I come up with something and most everyone follows nowadays-while you counter and advance further, though Lance used to.) Also, the largest nations tend to invent the most as well.
