What do you guys think of the Motor City of Detroit officially filing for bankruptcy?

I think it's a shame honestly, but it's been a long time coming. Detroit has been falling for years now, and it was to come sooner or later at this point.

Yeah it's a terrible shame. A terrible decline. I don't know what more can be done for it however, there are no easy solutions.

It's terrible, but Detroit is so ravished with impoverished buildings and crime, it's sad.

Brief Description of your nation's History: After the American Civil War, Mexico tried to re-annex California from the United States, There wasn't a war yet, just a claim on the territory, this caused a revolution in California before the war even started. So during the Second Mexican-American War, California was technically an independent nation, they got Oregon, Nevada, and Baja California to join them since the newly militarized California was a relief from the political hell-scape of the Post-War U.S. But since they were independent, the U.S. couldn't go to war with them without triggering yet another conflict after the already bloody American Civil War. The war was even less popular as it was the first time Gatling Guns had been used in a battle.

Brief Description of your nation's economy: There are four distinct economies in California. Southern California is obviously motion picture production, The Bay Area is technology-oriented, The Central Valley is agriculture, and Northern California is for the growing of marijuana. The out of state territories(just organized into counties) have their own economies. Nevada has mining, Oregon is Timber and Fishing, and Baja California is heavy manufacturing and agriculture. California's economy is the is the seven largest economy in the world. As of 2008, the gross state product (GSP) is about $2.85 trillion. The state's GDP growth rate slowed to 0.4% in 2008 after having grown 3.1% in 2006 and 1.8% in 2007. As of 2010 California along with USA leads all other states in the number of Fortune 500 headquarters at 57 companies each.

Sounds fair by me, but I stated that I have a strong military presence in the South - Does that mean we're basically two different factions battling it out on the island? Although I doubt many people would recognize my Mindanao (the South) as the part of the USDR (possibly other Eurasian pact members out of an urge to maintain relations with the USDR), we've been occupying it for the past 40 years, so perhaps there is a formal armistice line that neither the USDR or the Philippines want to accept but need to do so or risk another big conflict. So yeah, basically like North and South Korea, except with more terrorism and a less organized DMZ.
