Not just Red and Gold: Anything related to it as well. Not bannerman nor trader is safe from the wrath of the Kraken. *nod*

Although in the current thread of the King's Landing plot, it's a while after that when the Greyjoys start hearing rumors of Daemin's demise.

The Watch sent a request for aid against the Wildings. Which the Lannisters will ignore.

The Velaryons would like for the Hand of the King to sup with them.

Do we list bastards as house members or other?

I, personally, listed the Greyjoy bastards as part of the household, albeit with the proper surnames and distinctions. I kept "house members" reserved for the immediate family.

Hmm, alright. I think 'ol Lord Tytos 'Stonejaw' Clegane will only have three legitimate children but numerous bastards.

Also, I got to the part about bannermen. What am I supposed to put for that?

Vassals. You're being the Cleganes, yes? I don't think they have any actual bannermen to speak of, so you might just want to leave it blank. Or come up with a few nobody houses that own plots of land that swear to the Cleganes.

Bonus points if they all have canine names :p

Pretty much, I believe. I wouldn't imagine they have a very large personal demesne.

For House Clegane, what am I supposed to put for military strength?

The head of House Clegane is a knight himself, so all his strength would be his personal squires, freeriders, and men-at-arms (mounted or otherwise). Any other knights would probably be relatives.
Depending on his lands, could be a dozen men or could be a hundred.

Rough draft for House Clegane.

House Clegane

Image

House Name: House Clegane

House Leader/Lord: Ser Tytos Clegane (55)

House Members:
  • Lady Alys, wife of Tytos (47)
  • Ser Grance 'Stonejaw' Clegane, firstborn son of Tytos and heir, as well as member of the Kingsguard (27)
  • Ser Cleos Clegane, second son of Tytos (27)
  • Ser Marq Hill, third son of Tytos and first bastard (26)
  • Lady Anya, first daughter of Tytos (22)
  • Ser Greym Hill, fourth son of Tytos and second bastard (25)
  • Ser Albar Clegane, first son of Grance and legitimized bastard (13)
  • Lady Ellyn Clegane, first daughter of Grance and legitimized bastard (9)
  • Lady Wylla, wife of Cleos (19)
    ...

Bannermen: N/A

About:

House Clegane is a house of landed knights that holds fealty to House Lannister of Casterly Rock. Their lands are southeast of Casterly Rock and include a towerhouse, which is named Clegane's Keep. Their sigil is three dogs on a yellow field.

The first knight of House Clegane was kennelmaster at Casterly Rock until one autumn year when he saved Lord Tytos Lannister from a lioness and lost a leg and three dogs in the effort. As a reward, Lord Tytos gave him lands and a towerhouse and took his son as his squire. The three dogs on the Clegane sigil represent those that died saving Lord Tytos.

His son, Tytos, took leadership of House Clegane after his father died in a hunting accident. He has ruled for fifteen years, having taken the helm at the age of forty. Though known for his unspeakable cruelty and penchant for violence (a trait shared by the House's men (and largely his children)), he has remained loyal to House Lannister without pause, a relic of his father's teachings. This loyalty, however, seems to be ebbing away with time, as Grance shares no such loyalty (or loyalty to anything, it would seem).

Ser Tytos has four children that he recognizes, though he has sired numerous bastards that he does not personally remember or care for, some of which he has slain. The thoughts and feelings of his wife and children play no part in how Tytos governs the House. Viewed as a House of mad brutes having more in common with the dogs they are known for than proper knights, Tytos and indeed all of House Clegane has done precisely nothing to dispel such thoughts. Indeed, it seems that every action only strengthens them.

Military Strengths: Roughly one hundred

Naval Capacity: N/A

Nice app. I like the large family. Armour is expensive, so I take it either they're big jousters, or the younger you go in the family tree, the worse off their armour is.

Do I have to add something special to my app? I ask because I want Tytos Clegane to be Lord Commander of the Kingsguard.

OK, this is what I've got so far, so if anyone has anything else for the Lannisters speak now or forever hold your peace..

Ol'e Bart will finish speaking with the foreigner at the Docks, speak with the Grand Maester and return the ravens from House Stark and the Lord Commander and speak with the Velaryons.

The Golden Lion in Casterly Rock will finish things at the Rock in relation to the Fish on the Islands also known as the Great Joys.

Anything else for me to add to the schedule?

Of the Quendi wrote:My main problem with large Manderly forces is that it would stand to reason that whatever Manderly can call can be doubled (or more) by Lannisport and tripled or quadrupled by Oldtown and the capital. Even with 5000 that would make both Oldtown and King's Landing able to call on vast armies, at 15 they could potentially outmatch the entirety of the Westerlands.

Anyway I think Harrenhal enjoys the most support. Should anyone dislike that choice of location they can also just IC'ly boycot the council which I imagine wouldn't be an unlikely response.

Honestly I can't account for King's Landing, but the Hightowers are said to be able to field a vast host, larger than any other in the Reach. Why KL's large population isn't put to good use could be for a variety of reasons, stemming from penny pinching to the entitled attitude many medieval era capitals seemed to have. As for Lannisport, I don't recall it being mentioned as particularly large in size, considering that it is on the wrong coast. I imagine Lannisport, Gull Town and White Harbor to be not that far in size difference.

So good, Harrenhal. Looking forward to Gerold's letter.

I have always heard Lannisport described as larger than Gulltown and White Harbor but smaller than Oldtown and King's Landing. That it would seem odd for a city with its location to be big I agree with, but one can say the same of Oldtown. According to Game of Thrones wiki its half the size of King's Landing while a Wiki of Ice and Fire only mentions it as being the third largest city.

As for House Hightowers strength I plan on RP'ing it as being formidable but not many times the size of a 10-15k force.

I will have Gerold reach out to the lords of Westeros soon (provided he gets a chance) but didn't you have Artos already do so?

Ulster wrote:I'd bet on that.

Westeros has amazingly small armies for a continent that probably supports 40 million people.

Medieval France had 20 million people on a lot smaller territory yet they could probably not match the Reach soldier for soldier, much less call on half the unified forces of Westeros.

Entirely up to you. I list people I plan on giving a reasonably significant role and leave everyone else, high- or lowborn, out.

The Darklyn guy also claimed that post.

Also the Volantis app is approved. At the lower end of its military numbers with 40k, most of which will be mercenaries.

I wouldn't doubt Braavos, due to its policy of "wooden walls" protecting it, would have a Britain-esque policy of maintaining a fleet at least as big as the next two strongest foreign navies combined. So six to seven hundreds warships, at least, with a great host of support ships and merchant ships like cogs and carracks that could be converted to warships (like the Redwyne fleet is).

I put the issue up for discussion two pages back, this was the rough result. Linky:
