I think I feel better if he were just part of a local militia. Is it necessary that he should be part of some big conflict, especially something as unrelated to him as a Korean anti-foreign revolt? Doesn't make sense in context.

I want him to have some militian training of sort, and some negative approaches to war...I admit I calculated only later how bad the chronological index was on him. I'll think about something better, maybe I can even add him to the Etiopia war? Nah, I remember it to be too soon.

There is Aceh War. Maybe an Italian joined the KNIL as a volunteer?

:o What? But you just suggested it yourself. What do you mean 'how'?

*sigh*

The Royal Netherlands East Indies Army recruited European mercenaries of other nationalities, not necessarily those of Germanic or Dutch origin, up until the end of the Aceh War. Since they weren't particular of nationality, it would be possible for Italians to join, though not likely in significant numbers. Also, while there weren't any records of Italians joining the KNIL in real life, as you said, this RP isn't that hard up on following real life history down to the fine print (e.g. flying magic ships). I just wanted First to make a background for Danilo that's believable in context.

EDIT: Anyway, any updates on the ships I need to work on for you guys?

Wolf, question. Am I allowed to board one of the hijacked ships, about to reveal one of my characters again and he can pretty much control the earth at his will.

And would be cool if the TonnHeiser was to try and shot down one of the hijacked ships?

Sure, there's three to choose from. Pick your target wisely. However, pick the wrong one and you're going to end up dropping hundreds of feet into the ground. :p

Also, shooting any of the ships would likely put you on the wrong side of any faction who owned it prior. Remember, there are consequences to your actions. ;)

I will actually go with the Aceh War. It looks fine and to be realistic we are talking of one Italian, obviously not captured or identified in the field. When a war says "mercenary" you can expect any sort of shit from it, we didn't have photo or audio of those times.

Hell, and also some minuscule story bending in a world with air dreadnoughts doesn't seem so bad.

Can you give me the names of the ships that are taken, and can you give me an advice on what ship should I try to liberate?

So far, the Bristol, Jefferson and Tsukuyomi are being raided, the Bristol being the one most infested with named villains. I'm not going to suggest, however, because I'd like you to make your own choice and have fun with that. Trust me, you're going to need the right allies when Chapter 2 rolls in.

I don't know that KNIL recruited mercenaries from other nationalities, I though they used conscripts from their own colonies to maintains order.

I know the limits are 5 characters. Probably another character from Dutch East Indies, who originated from Aceh and knows about the Aceh War (1870-1942) and another Russian-Japanese officer.

Wolfenium, before I make my next post, could you approve my character first?

And because of my research, I have decided to choose from either the USS Jefferson and the RN Bristol. But since I'm more connected to the British, I will have to think of this carefully.

Approved. It's late, so I'll have to take a closer look in the morning, but everything seems to check out at the moment.

And are you sure you want to go with the Bristol? Fair warning, because I already said there are named characters on board. Anyone familiar with my RPs would know the difference between named characters and unnamed ones. ;)
