"Oh no, more like someone to keep him occupied so he doesn't be the ass he usually is."

He cracked his knuckles before grabbing his coffee to take a sip. "Oh good then, just hope it ain't too expensive to buy a dog. At least a pure breed."

"Hmmm... do pure breeds cost a lot?" she asked before dumping a ton of sugar in her coffee.

"It did. Very much so," admitted Giovenith, finishing up her potato and licking her fingers.

The pet store was only a hop, skip, and a jump until one realized that the pet store was a rather lengthy walk from the apartment building. It was a small building, the words "Pet Store" written on a sign in large, inviting red letters.

"Love them too," Giovenith yawned, then laid down on her back despite her soreness, relaxing in thought. "You know what someone once told me? 'If only there was someone there to tell you that you're living the good ol' days while you're still in them.' I liked that."

"I guess I'm living the good ole' days." Bran said and flinched when Chrys exclaimed Potato. "Jeez, don't get that excited."

"POTATO!" exclaimed Chrys, apparently apropos of nothing. She turned to Giovenith as if nothing had happened.

As usual, whenever tackled, Bran tumbled in her grasp. "Woah! You're a bit too excited!" He shouted. Once free, he decided to tackle her right back. He playfully pounced.

In one of the very rare examples of Shifting that didn't lead to a fight, Chrys' eyes lit up in their familiar bleached-out white. She rolled backward, laughing cheerfully.

"Awesome! Other people never do this with me! Wanna join in, Torii?" she asked, her gaze illuminating Torii's face.

Fortu listened worried as Arthur thrashed about his room. Arthur requested being alone, so Fortu respected that. He was worried that the withdrawal from his prescriptions were going too rough on him. Fortu was starting to have doubt about his decision to have his roommate quit cold turkey.

"We have to move now! They have mind-reading owls, and know our plans! Nowhere is safe!" NVE urged Neil. They sat in Neil's home office and wore hats made out of folded Tele-kill Alloy foil. "Fine, but it will take forty eight hours to get running. If we fail, you are taking the fall." Neil replied as he checked the "Cone of Silence". "I understand that you have a family, I will be more than glad to cover your tail. So we just need to steal the last part of the crystal matrix and install it in the CERN supercollider. We use the MTI on the population, open the superportal, then begin the campaign of propaganda to win them to our side. The military should crush any resistance, gods or not." NVE said as he covered his mouth to prevent lip readers from seeing through the closed windows.

The inside was well lit, showing isle after isle of nearly everything pet related. The isles were arranged by category of pet, several display glasses and cages, with things needed for said animals in the cages.

The lone employee looked up from her book on lizard-keeping and smiled. "Present! What can I help you two with today?" She asked, accented.

Swith looked around her surroundings and resisted the urge to eat the woman's birds and rodents. "My husband and I are looking for a dog for our children. A family pet. Something normal and nothing magical."

"Oh," Giovenith remembered what she had been told, just realizing that they must have not told many people. "Jacob, Albert, and Octavian had to run real quick back home to deal with some politics. Says there might be war. Jacob tells me he'll argue his best to try to prevent it though."
