The BranRiech wrote:"My other clothes are in my room, the door to which is in the hallway you have annexed. If it offends you, I could retrieve them?" He suggested and looked to a nearby door. that had a simple gilded doorknob, as well as some ornate designs on the door carved into the wood. "My sister lives here too, she's off being stupid someplace. No, I take that back, she's nice enough, just featherbrained."

"Why would you not want all of the peasants to be aware if you at all times, of course you should always dress as befitting your status!" Lance insisted, almost shocked at the prospect that this prince garbed himself as a commoner. "And what of your sister, was she sent along with you under your father's wishes as well?"

"Kind of went to go and visit his spirit. We had a wonderful chat." Kei replied as if it were nothing serious or big. "He's mostly the same as he was in life, so death or fighting hadn't changed him, which is what he wanted."

--

"Eh, the robes are stuffy, the air up here is too warm to wear the accursed things. ANd yeah, Yuna, my sister, was sent here along with me. Said we needed bonding time or whatever, besides, she's studying things here too, she's going to be a Priestess, as the second child always trains to be, while the first is conditioned to be the heir to the throne." Drova explained. "It's been that way for . . . Thousands of years?"

AETEN II wrote:
Volturius shook his head, less annoyed with Tipper's ignorance of the typical complicated history of the Night Lords Legion, which was fairly understandable. She likely heard everything from second-hand accounts from other Legions or Warbands- and those were biased sources unlikely to report anything remotely close to the truth. Hell, with the degradation of most Night Lord Companies in Warbands composed of the criminals and insane- it was unlikely that even most Night Lords would be a trustworthy source.

"Those were Curze's last formal words at the final gathering of the Night Lords. His actual last words were recorded by the assassin- quote: Your presence does not surprise me, Assassin. I have known of you ever since your craft entered the Eastern Fringes. Why did I not have you killed? Because your mission and the act you are about to commit proves the truth of all I have ever said or done. I merely punished those who had wronged, just as your False Emperor now seeks to punish me. Death is nothing compared to vindication."

"I'd also note that he wasn't proud of us at the end- he actually hated the Legion at the end of his life- viewing us a marauding band of criminals like those he purged as a child. Which frankly I cannot blame him for- while my old brothers were certainly loyal and more or less trustworthy- our ranks, even our noble Warband from which I descend, was infested with criminals. Not those that mortals would call criminals normally- but Astarte-defined criminals. Murderers that backstab their brothers merely to obtain their armor and weapons. Disgusting honor-less cowards that clung to the criminal history of the Night Lords, and not the vigilante past."

The astartes then lightly sighed, annoyed at Tipper's constant mental beatings on herself. It was highly unlikely that the average cultist would even be closely involved with chaos astartes matters- let alone even allowed near them.

"It's understandable for you to not have perfect knowledge of the workings of chaos astartes Legions. I'd also disregard anything you think you know-rivalries bias most and especially information on the Alpha Legion- it's likely falsified. Even some of my brothers should not have their word trusted when describing the Night Lords."

Tipper's expression brightened and she raised her head to smile at him.

"Volturius, I probably have a lot of misinformation. Astartes... are..." she bit the corner of her lip as she thought out her feelings about them. "Astartes are beyond the pedestrian. It's rare to actually be around any of you. I was fortunate while on the ship but Astartes are seen as... sacred? Demigods? I can't explain it. You're respected by us. You're also feared by us. But you, Volturius, you are more than that. I greatly respect you and I don't fear that you'd hurt me, but I really do worry at times that you'll become offended by my opinions or lack of correct information. I'd never do anything to insult or dishonor you on purpose."

She breathed in and then snorted. "I'm just Tipper. I mean well. I didn't fall in love with your wings or feet or Legion or gene seed. I fell in love with your heart. Everything else is part of the package."

She reached out and tugged on his wingtip playfully. It was a daring move on her part but she felt it was time for her to stop fretting over stupid things. He obviously wouldn't bother with her if he wasn't comfortable around her. Furthermore, he had yet to accidentally roll over on her or to swipe at her in frustration.

"I'll disregard useless information. If it's allowable, will you teach me the history? I want to learn. But not right this moment. I think I'd like to take a break from Chapters and Legacy and forming things for just a few hours. I think we should take the city up on its offer and find a way to hunt down... things that shouldn't be allowed here. We should meet with the officials, and to find them, we should ask the cultists who are tied into the city."

Katya had been mostly quiet that time, somewhat embarrassed and shy about their conversation. However, what Kei said made her jump. "Y-Yoshi!?", She immediately spat out. "You spoke with him? For real? How so?"

"Weeell, took a walk in the woods after you left, saw a moth, followed it, and it ended up being Yoshi's spirit. We went someplace secluded and chatted for a while." Kei said and sighed, again not seeing it as a big deal or anything. Shew knew Katya would have wanted to know though. "I finally found out why he's afraid of me, and we're friends now, I guess?"

"Eh, it's not really a religious title anymore. She can still get married, and she's basically a healer, who holds scientific and cultural data of the entire race. Like a Human scribe, or a doctor, all in one role." Drova said once more. "She's a year younger than I, and I'm seventeen."

Lance's interest was piqued once again at the explanation. "If there is one thing peasants and those like us share it is a need for knowledge, I'd very much like to know about your own people. You said she is also a healer, I don't imagine through medicinal means so much as...well, magic being the best word I can find to describe it."

"Magic is a pretty good description of it. She's pretty crappy at it though, gave me a potion to try that gave me damn nightmares. I couldn't get mad though, she meant well." Drova said. "Want to know about us? You can just ask, I can answer most of them for you."

He pushed the glasses he was wearing up a bit, as they were drooping a bit off his face.

"I guess my only real question right now is where do you come from? Was it some sort of evolution from mankind?" Lance asked curiously, as they seemed humanoid enough despite the obvious differences from your usual Human.

"Well, we probably evolved from humans? I don't really know that stuff, some people do though, but still. We live underground, ever since the humans drove us down there when they took over our land. We've made do down there, and even thrive. Although underground life means our eyesight has started to weaken, in favor of our other senses, so most of our people need to wear glasses on the surface." Drova said while he was examining the damage from the grenade.

"Differences between us are pretty obvious, our ears." He said, noting the elf-like ears poking through his hair. "Then the wings." He said, flapping them as if flying through the air. "And our skin and hair color."

"Oh." Lance said, somewhat disappointed with the lack of knowledge of their origins. "Perhaps your sister would know. Though it is very interesting how you've managed to survive beneath the surface, perhaps I will have to visit your home some day. I would invite you to my own home, but we have rules about bringing people back with us through time." Lance shrugged slightly.

Dora sat back and tried to sift through all of the questions.

"One thing at a time," she drawled, holding up her hand. A bit caught off guard by Katya's response despite her expecting it, she glanced at Kei, since it seemed half the questions were for her.

"I could arrange something, Yuna has friends here as well that she wants to take to visit the homeland." Drova said thoughtfully. "I'd be glad to bring you along with. We'd be meeting my parents, seeing the sights too, just general things really."

--

"What Dora said, sheesh." Kei teased. "I'm not sure if others can visit him, he lives in the forest, but during the day, he's in his own realm, a peaceful glade, sperated from the rest of the forest. I'm not sure that you may go through there." Kei said. "Could always try though, the worst that happens is you dunk your head in a pond and don't end up in the spirit world."

It may be stupid, but it was as good as anything for Katya.

"In the forest!?", She exclaimed. "In a glade...at night? Oh...is it peaceful? What about other spirits? Can we still send things in and out?"

She was almost bouncing up and down in excitement. This was too good to be true. Not the best, but better than what she thought. She glanced t Dora with a smile. She was very happy.

"Yeah, they have to deal with me anyways, another prince might not be too much of a pain for them. I don't know why they don't appreciate us, but still. We need to deal with them as well, which is awful enough." Drova chuckled. "Actually, there's some good people here, and hey, I won't be ruling them some day, so I don't need to worry about them."

"The work that goes into running an empire is often underappreciated by peas..." he sighed, frustrated at himself for continuing to use the term. "Citizens. You are right though, there are many good citizens that make up the commoners. I would offer our two nations to work together but seeing as how my own is far before this time I don't feel like that would work very well. Dora sat back and sipped from her mug of Scotch.

"Is there time to go see him before the trip?" she ventured. "He might appreciate knowing we're about to visit his country. That reminds me - are you coming with, Kei?"
