"Well he said he was out. And last time anyone got a whiff of what we were up to, it didn't go well for us. Now for skills, myself and Gretta can handle R&D." Neil said. "Mad Science is a passion. and we really want to field test a couple things." Gretta added.

"Hacking." Fortu said.

"Nevvie can handle spying. She is great at stealth and breaking and entering undetected. I can solve problems and track targets through my powers of deduction and psychological profiling. Not to mention we can both hold our own in a fight." Arthur offered.

Minerva watched NVE run off. "Alright, level with me. Is what Naomi said true? The longer you're in existence, the more insane you become? She rattled on about that but I really wasn't paying her much attention that day. And yes, especially if the Drones return, we could really use your intelligence, and your intelligence, in handling them. Beyond that, I have no idea what the city expects us to do. They invited Bran, Torii, Katya, Sig and Gio. These people are just regular people, except Gio, but she's not exactly some potent thing that zaps people with energy or cracks code. There has to be a reason behind that. Any guesses?"

"We just age a lot faster, prolonging our lifespan past ten years is rough on the brain. Well having kids and putting parts of our brains in clones did help us get more level, but not by much." Gretta said. "However the clones are becoming more unstable because they do age a lot faster mentally...that includes you Fortu." Neil answered.

"Not listening, I'm not crazy, and I don't intend to go crazy. The coffeemaker agrees that I'm the sane one of the lot of you." Fortu protested.

"I self-medicate, but Fortu inadvertently screwed up my body chemistry. Now as for the mystery of why the others have been ask to do this, maybe the city sees great potential in them. Bran does work with advanced technology, I'm not too sure about the others yet." Arthur said.

"That won't do any good," said Chrys in a tone of idle amusement. "Say, got any Dr Pepper?"

It appeared to be a tropical environment.

MB shrugged. Random jump.

"I said shut it you whore. You and I are done, I used you and now you're old, I'm done with you" he said with no small amount of pleasure. Akito was loving it and didn't even try to hide it. He couldn't wait to see her go away in tears and then slap the real Yoshi, breaking his heart.

Katya's grin slowly turned to a glare. "Okay, Yoshi...what the fuck is going on right now? It's not like you to curse..."

She got up and took her cup of coffee, but didn't break eye contact with him.

They both then exited the apartment and made their way to the elevator, going through a short ride and then exiting the building. They then made their way across the street and towards the pub at a near jogging pace, showing up at the Wilting Succubus and entering. Once inside, they looked around to see where the members of the apartment were.

He back handed the frightened girl, hard, making a loud smack as his hand contacted her delicate cheek. "Get away from me. I cannot be bothered with the likes of you anymore" and with that, he turned and left katya to wonder the halls and hurt more people. He figured after two or three he would disappear and drag Yoshi with him. He had sinister plans for his cousin.

Katya was stunned in many different way. Her shaking hand fumbled and dropped her coffee, which spilled all over the floor. Her cheek burned as the flesh turned red and swollen. She heart felt like it was tightening and being ripped out. She couldn't react. She just felt...blank. Her mind replayed the event over and over again.

She stumbled out into the hall, leaned against the wall, and started fumbling with her phone, looking for the only numbers she knew. She tried Kei, but got no answer. She had no use for Yoshi's. She couldn't bother Bran with her feelings. She had nobody else, so she dialed in the numbers for Dora's cell.

AETEN II wrote:"Actually, I'd put my money on the invincible soulless death machines hellbent on eradicating all life, but if you want to put your money on the nearly extinct pansies, by all means- be my guest. But yes, while in the past, the only thing that sadly must survive is the GEOM. Forcing a small government to show some respect shouldn't retroactively erase us from history. Plus if you want to get into the technicalities of the time travel bullshit, we can't do anything that would alter the timestream, as it'd alter history and cause a paradox that erased us. Thus any action we take is the correct one and has already happened."

Volturius soon began to pull various memories on the subject from his memory. While most would see a brute in armor, those that knew astartes were well-aware that they were philosophers, physicists, biologists, tacticians, and warriors all rolled into one immortal demigod-made man.

Minerva slowly relaxed a bit. She hadn't realized she'd been gritting her teeth. She rubbed her jaw.

"I haven't forgotten what you said, Volturius. Bielefeld already respects Chaos. They didn't cancel their current contracts with us. There's more to this place than many people realize... then even I realized."

She leaned back in her chair and played with the bottle of ale the waitress exchanged for her hot tea. "We don't want to reveal the future. We have to remain low-key. We can't have regular cultists and other minions or space marines or tech priests running around as if we were 40 thousand years in the future. This is not the time for it. Swith created a ripple when she brought you here. She thought she was grabbing onto one of our already indoctrinated daemons when she did. The people in this time period are not accustomed to violence as we know it. It's too much of a shock to them. They aren't ready for it."

"Understandable, however some must be done. The civilization is doomed eventually. They will spread out across the stars, constructing a great civilization that will span the entire galaxy- then upon the great Warp Storms, the mysterious Iron Men, and numerous other events all culminating together, butcher the civilization, scattering it until the False Emperor unites it temporarily in the Great Crusade. Although I always did wonder why Chaos didn't take over before the False Emperor seized power later on, especially when the Immaterium isn't affected by time. Emotional food for Chaos I take it?"

Volturius then turned to the actual Raptors, puzzled by their apparent problems.

"'The hell is cloning a problem for you? Just stabilize them. It's easy to clone stable beings- fuck, it's how the Dark Eldar reproduce. I don't see how you'd be having problems creating stable clones unless you're all psykers."

Giovenith had decided to quietly slip out and leave for home, though she felt the coward for doing so. Uh-uh. No. Not today, it was all too much... she loved Bielefeld, she really did, but... but she was only sixteen. No matter how much time she put into feeling and trying to understand things that were all a part of the Flow, there were still certain things that she just couldn't handle. Not right now anyway. She felt that her bones were still too frail to place worlds on them.

Sighing, she felt a sense of childish relief at opening the lobby doors and stepping in home.

"Great! Come on!" Chrys pulled Torii to her feet.

Further away, Dora's phone rang, and she fished it out of her pocket, wondering if Ray had a case for her to help with. She glanced at the screen, raised an eyebrow, and answered.

"Go ahead, Katya. Time for that drink?"

Yo, not cool!", Torii said. She was giggling nonetheless, and started kicking lightly.

The evening sky on Gliese was peppered with stars. Swith, who had gone on vacation with her mate and children, slipped from bed and opened the French doors leading out to the balcony. The palace below was still in celebration. Swith's eyes weren't on them, though. She looked up at the stars and drew a shuddering breath.

It was a silent keen that traveled on a plain that no mortals could hear. It was a greeting and a goodbye wrapped in a gossamer strand that couldn't be broken by mortals or gods or even the Greater Beings. It was a patient and gentle understanding buoyed by her gratitude and admiration for a foe who had, in a sense, become a cherished entity in her world.

She stood silently amongst the sounds of revelry and joy from below, and she wept tears that were neither sad or happy. They were simply tears, and they fell from her eyes and landed on her chest without any further preamble.

"Farewell," she whispered to the stars. Her mind reflected upon octopus and pizza parlors, replicants and tea with scones. She sighed and her head tilted as she keened again. And then, because there wasn't anything left to do, she stepped inside and closed the door to block out the noise for a while.
