"Now, jump off the roof." Yuna chuckled and started pushing her friend towards the edge of the building.

Kei complied and reached for the bottle, handing it over all in one gesture. She nearly hovered over to see what was being cooked in the kitchen.

Torii started flapping her wings harder and faster, and jumped off the roof with a slight running start.

...

Meanwhile, Katya was just heading back to her room.

Luce shook in some of the paprika and then did more stirring. The steam was rising from the reddish stew, carrying the scent of beef and various vegetables.

"Here, have a taste," he invited, pulling the ladle out of the pot and holding it up.

Torii would find the motions rather odd, but if she could keep it up, she would find that she could at least glide, and flap every once in a while in increase the distance. This was but the first lesson if she succeeded.

Blythe dissolved into a fit of squeals and happy tears and tackled him with enough force to knock a slumbering Xanthe onto the floor. The pseudo-angel landed with a loud CLUNK and rubbed the side of her head. Blythe didn't care. She was too busy peppering Superbia's snout and eye areas with kisses.

"Superbia!" Blythe pressed her face against him. "We went to rescue you. Envy and Wrath had a falling out. One of them screwed the other one over, but Envy released you to us. We couldn't get the weapons back, but we got you. And we healed you. And now you're back." She ran her lavender hands along his face and added, "And you're white now and not red. Still handsome, though."

Swith Witherward wrote:"Hello there. Some of our neighbors bought a dog and some rats recently. You come highly recommended."

Swith looked around her surroundings and resisted the urge to eat the woman's birds and rodents. "My husband and I are looking for a dog for our children. A family pet. Something normal and nothing magical."

"I did? The Orange haired one thought I was one of the pets." The woman shook her head, obviously frustrated with Kei's antics. Sher did seem happy to have customers though. "Well, I was going to recommend the exotic section in back, but a dog? We can do that, follow along, please." She requested and slithered off into one of the isles.

Several dogs were on display in that isle, in large, spacious kennels with various toys and such. "Well, if you're looking for a bargain, I suggest this little guy, he's free, just because we need to clear up space for another dog coming in soon, so if you want him . . . He's a Pomeranian/German Shepard mix. No one knows where he came from." She explained.

In the kennel next door, a litter of Labrador puppies barked and squirmed.

The shaggy dog the woman showed them, however, only stared back with loyal, yet playful eyes.

"If you get him, you'll still need to pay for the food and other things growing pups need. He'll need plenty of exercise as well, I assume you can provide a loving household as well?" The attendant asked Swith.

The dog wagged its tail happily and licked through the kennel at Swith's hand.

Yuna jumped off the roof as well, and sailed effortlessly down to where Torii was. She smiled and helped her friend up. "Break anything? Good, you did great, Torii."

AETEN II wrote:Volturius opened the door to their apartment, taking a seat on the reinforced bed as he pooled fragmented memories from centuries ago.

"I unfortunately do not remember the name of my mother- I spent little time with her, spending most of my days either studying or being trained practically since birth. She later died shortly before my indoctrination as a Chaos Space Marine during a loyalist boarding action on our ship. Her name started with a 'P'- that is all my memory retains before it was distorted by the surgeries. Most memories of my father come from after the augmentations or during training- which is the largest part of my life before the augmentations that I can recollect most clearly."

Volturius sighed upong drawing upon the memories: he did find it unfortunate how his memories were shattered by the ascendance and the years spent waging war- but it was the same for all other astartes, loyal or chaos. He however did find consolation in that his memories were at least not grim- he'd heard stories of how other space marines had accidentally killed their own families when laying siege or defending their homeworlds, remembering those that they gunned down were relatives only when their fellows recognized their faces, and not themselves. Thankfully, he never would have to fear such a grim realization.

Tipper shook her head. Part of her disliked the process for becoming Astartes because it took away too much of a person's base memories. Tipper always felt that the early years shaped the person. Her opinion was as valuable to used tissue, however.

"Alright, we'll think of something." She scooted over to him and gently touched a wing. Her delicate hands sought out the strong joints that made up the "fingers" and she rubbed the tissue around them. She hummed as she massaged him, her mind chasing various thoughts and concepts. After a while, she paused. "We need something to do. Can you pilot a ship? Maybe we could see what the planet has to offer? Or visit the space port above? I heard it's Nifid-owned."

Volturius eyes glazed over for a short period as Tipper delicately loosened the muscles in his wings, releasing the stress in the wings that naturally built up from flight. His brow however wrinkled in annoyance at Tipper unsure of his ability to fly a craft.

"Tipper, I'm a damn astartes. Give me a manual and I could fly just about anything, so long as I can physically fit in the cockpit. Although what I was thinking was maybe dropping over by the residence of those curious reptilians. For the previous owners of Terra, they seemed quite pleasant as xenos/ancients go. Certainly preferable to the Tau, Necrons, or the Eldar. I am also curious to see if they have the means of cloning my gene seed- allowing me to found a new Chapter in the name of Slaanesh."

Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.

Tipper stopped rubbing his wing and frowned at him. "Volturius, you're a damn Astartes... I'm sure you can figure out how to operate it, but can you fit in it to fly it?" She burst into pleasant laughter and dropped her gruff facade, leaning over to kiss his forehead to show she was only giving him a hard time.

It was a strange moment for Tipper. She would never have dared to do that with any Space Marine, no matter what side he was on. She realized that she was slowly getting over her fear of Astartes in general. Maybe... well, not all of them. Volturius, certainly. She finally felt comfortable enough around him to give a bit of playful sass. She also hadn't tensed up in preparation for a retaliatory swipe. It was a mark of how far she'd come as a person, and a measure of her ability to emerge from the protective shell she'd placed herself in long ago.

"Yes, I liked those xenos. They had interesting voices. Let's go visit them. The thought of you starting your own chapter fills me with pride."

Swith raised an eyebrow at Thriller. She stood up. "Joint decision, lover. We both need to agree on the dog. That's only fair. Then again, if we get him, he'll get lonely when we're not home. Why not get a pure breed pup to be his companion as well?"

She tilted her head and smoothed her stained skirt. "It makes me think, is that what normal people are supposed to do? Have I basically been this pretty little porcelain doll living in a cupboard in comparison to others? I feel real. Further more, just whose fault is it? Is that just the way I am, or was I raised away from that? My mom can be something of a doter at times. She actually still tries to physically cradle me on occasion."

"Hmm. Well, everybody's different, you know. What works for one of us probably won't work for Bran here, in more ways than one. Probably wouldn't work for you either. But life changes, and sometimes people change with it. ...Actually, scratch that. People always change with it. Whether that change is good or not, is up to fate for most people. You, though...people like us are out of the ordinary. Something outré, and so we can choose our own path. As long as that happens, why not be outré in your own way? Be artsy! Be preoccupied! Do whatever you were doing when you got those scrapes! There's plenty of time for the rest later."

The BranRiech wrote:"Hmm, Stew?" Kei took a guess as to what was in the pot as she opened her mouth, assuming Luce would feed her before she starred laughing.

"Quite so," said Luce. "Any good?"

I guess that is a good compromise; two dogs so neither is lonely." Thriller said with a bit of a smile on him. Price to him was nothing though. He was an emperor, loaded with cash. Granted it was the cash of the people but it was to buy the national animal.
