Octavian nodded, and said, "Why not. I'm pretty sure that a girl could only eat a certain number of sandwiches before getting full, right?" He chuckled, and picked up one of the sandwiches and began munching on it. The scientists did the same, taking the sandwiches they had made.

"Indeed!" Giovenith munched on a sandwich happily, breaking off bits to feed to the two miniature deer. "Hey Octi-gon, I've asked a lot of people before, but never you I've realized. What do you think about your future? What do you think it will be like? Exciting?" She summoned a tall glass of grape juice and drank heavily from it.

Katya was kicking her dangling feet around nervously. She chuckled nervously, and well, and held onto the safety bar tightly. She was scared, truthfully, but was still enjoying things.

AETEN II wrote:"If it's not sentient, there's little enjoyment to be reaped from killing and eating it- but another one of the carnivals would work just fine." Volturius responded to Will as he waved him off, contemplating the daemonhosts words, but finding them a little, odd. He personally would love to socialize with the Daemon inside the mortal shell. Normally he found such creatures to be... untrustworthy due to their natures- but dulled by Swith, they'd make a safe companion. However, the astartes was dead certain that the annoying mortal shell in which the daemon was imprisoned dulled the state of the daemon, turning it into a pathetic, passive creature that by no means should be compared to its glorious future descendants.

Grumbling in annoyance once Will had left, Volturius led Tipper into a corner of the lobby- taking a seat and a half of a couch on the corner.

"Well, with the damned (no pun intended) daemonhost shut up, what were you talking about? The boy knew your name?"

Tipper nodded mutely. She drew in a steady breath and released it slowly. "He knew my name. He hears like I see."

Tipper crossed an arm over her chest and rubbed her elbow. There was a sense of sadness that she couldn't shake. It was as if she were on the verge of seeing something but hadn't quite reached the point of focus yet. It was a distributing feeling to her, and she couldn't help but project a bit of those feelings along their tether.

"But that's not important," she said as she put her state on the back burner. "There's still much to do, and we haven't even started half of it." She lifted her eyes and found herself face to face with him. Even sitting, he was a bit taller than her, but not by much. She placed her cool hands under his jaw and rubbed her face against his cheek. "Much to do. I'm so proud of you, Volturius." That joyous feeling was the key to banishing the sadness clouding her heart.

Swith was determined to win the massive banana, and ring toss was her favorite game. She used to pass by the dull hours by having various creatures skulk in corner or scramble across the floor just so she could take aim at their horns. Stationary bottles weren't much of a challenge even if they were rigged so the rings had to settle just so in order to fall around the bottle's neck. She grinned devilishly as her first ring flew through the air and landed exactly where she wanted it.

"No magic, either," she said. "Just skill."

The sheep (which was in fact intersex because why not; not that it was relevant at the moment) continued charging along with the rest of its herd until the lot reached the large, imposing castle labeled "Aaaaaaaaaaaargh". They toppled it over, revealing it to be Styrofoam. Well-painted Styrofoam, but still Styrofoam.

It crunched.

"True!" said Tasia.

As the car finally reached the top, the lights turned one by one to fire-engine red from the outside in. Nothing happened at first, seemingly to allow the passengers to take in the sights of the carnival grounds. Or to start hyperventilating. Whichever.

With no warning, and much more smoothly than the ride up, the car began to drop until it reached a random point about halfway, launching its riders' stomachs into their throats. The two teenagers both screamed while Dora whooped excitedly.

Giovenith stared at him for but a moment, blinking twice before offering a soft smile. "Well, friend, why do people follow a ruler? Normally because if they do not, law will be enforced upon them. But what about those who enforce for the ruler? Why do they listen to him? Ultimately, someone has to be better off listening to the ruler than they otherwise would be, or there really isn't a purpose. If that becomes apparent to too many people, then eventually they stop listening. And the more people who have nothing to gain, the more people who stop listening, the harder it is to manage them all back into obedience once again. If nobody out there feels like they get something from you being in charge, or they get something from the people who get something from you being in charge, and so on, then there is no incentive, no need for obedience, and therefore, no power. You have to be able to please someone out there." She brushed something from her hair with a sniff. "Though I suppose I'm no expert. You seem smart enough to me, so I believe you'll be just fine."

Swith chewed her bottom lip. As much as she wanted to see him carrying around a stuffed plush banana as big as his own body, and as much as she wanted to see the twins squeal over a silly new toy, she felt badly for Thriller's failed attempts. And then the feeling passed and her second and third ring alighted on the bottles.

"How many for the banana?" she asked the carnie.

"Twenty, no misses."

"Okay!" Her face lit up and she held her hands out for more rings.

Xanthe raised her eyebrow at Lucius. Her wings slowly faded away and she took on human form. She studied her hands and arms... she'd never been human before. Has she been human, she would have looked just as nerdy as she did now. But appearance didn't bother her much, and it was her imagination subconsciously fueling her appearance.

"Well, have fun standing around, Lucius. I'm going on the Ferris wheel. And then I'm going to try to win a goldfish, or maybe eat some candy cotton sticks or whatever they call it."

With a sudden clanking noise, the car came loose from its temporary stop and plummeted downward to reach the bottom again.

There was a popping noise, and an animated giant popcorn chicken thing appeared about half an inch below her chin.

"EAT ME!"

Katya screamed and closed her eyes tight.

The giant popcorn chicken thing grew a pair of atomic-spicy wings with lime marinade and began fluttering about Katya's head. It bumped into her every now and then.

Meanwhile, the two teenagers were conversing. Dora stood, as the safety bar had come up and she'd unfastened herself. "What's up? Something spook you?"

The ride attendant approached.

Yuri giggled and took several pictures in rapid succession. "Okay!" she skipped over to Torii and gave the camera to her so that she could review and judge them herself.

What do interpersonal skills have anything to do with ruling a nation?" He sneered, and rolled his eyes at what he perceived as his father being stupid. "First thing I would do would be to retake the Bruginstein half of Kreti, then finish off their nation once and for all." He continued grinning in that very strange and maniacal way he always did.

"Hmm.... Well. I understand what you mean. "Octavian's grin turned into a slight frown as he thought. "I guess you are right..... And I guess Dad is as well..... Only a little though. Its not like the people are that important. But at the same time, It would be annoying having to quell rebellions within my nation when we could be expanding more.... So I guess I can learn to at least do things to make others happy, and not just myself..... Just so I can make my people distracted enough so they won't hate me, so I can focus on real threats....."

Katya jumped out of the seat, while wishing a cage around the chicken.

She turned to Dora and smiled. "Nope, nothing wrong here."

...

Torii looked over the pictures and smiled. It may not have been real, but it gave her something to dream about.

Her eyes got teary.

Yuri tilted her head to one side I'm glad that you like them. She turned to face the clones. 'What about them?" she asked, gesturing towards them.
