that sounds like it would be a cool thing to do, but it is too early right now

Yes. THE AZTEC EMPIRE SHALL STRETCH INTO THE HEAVENS ABOVE!
But only when this RP dies. And that won't happen for a long time.
Right?

Your test scores indicate that you are an open-minded ultra-progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with a journalist. It appears that you are skeptical towards religion, and have a generally optimistic attitude towards humanity in general.
Your attitudes towards economics appear neither committedly capitalist nor socialist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a liberal.
To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a considerate idealistic egalitarian with many strong convictions.

Sounds interesting. Maybe we could skip ahead to the Industrial era (1860s or thereabouts) and deal with more advanced technology, larger populations, colonial wars for independence, and so on.

That would be interesting, at least. I'd enjoy secretly supporting those rebels.

And, even though it's not quite "modern-era," there's still a ton of new technology - railroads, steamships, breech-loading weapons, and so on.

And complete all those canals we keep debating about. Even if Suez is finished in the current RP, we still need Kiel, Panama, and so on.

Also, I kind of want an excuse to turn my little settlement on Punta Arenas into a sprawling metropolis spanning multiple islands, and, if someone is nice enough, not to make a Panama Canal.

Nation Name: The Empire of Japan
National Flag: regular Japanese Flag
Claims:Japan, Korea, Manchuria, Sakhalin
Form of Government: Authoritarian Monarchy+Advisory Council of 10 Lords (Clan Leaders of the 10 Greatest Clans)
Head of State: Emperor Kokakku
Capital City: Kyoto
Population: 52 million
Military Size: 1 million
Military Type: 300,000 Samurai (Professional warriors and military officers). 700,000 ashigaru. All armed with muskets, ashigaru have spears, samurai have swords. The samurai make up the core of the military but many more musket ashigaru may be conscripted and trained quickly. Each province is required to supply a certain amount of men to be trained for the Imperial Army.
Naval Strength: Quite strong, modernized in the last 50 years. Made up of armored and cannoned capital bune ship (floating fortresses), and European styled frigates/corvettes.
Economic Strength: Wealthy, even more so as more territory and resources are added to the empire. Rich in natural resources and artisan goods, the seeds of industrialization have bee planted in the imperial court.
Land Routes: Very well, imperial roads are all standardized, more being build in Manchuria and Northern regions.
Sea Routes Japan owns the region seas with the weakening of the Chinese emperors.
Primary Goals: To capture China, colonize the New World, Industrialize/Modernize, open up more trade routes.
History: The Tokugawa Shogunate held power for about 90 years between 1600 and 1690 but corruption and betrayal led to Royal loyalists arising. By 1685, the movement had become so great that they carried out a military coup on the Shogunate on orders from the Emperor Temmu. Civil war embroiled the nation for 20 years between 1685 and 1715, eventually leaving the Emperor the victor. Over the next 30 years, the Emperors focused on consolidating power and formed new power structures. In the end the new form of government was formed of the Imperial Family as the supreme leaders and the major clan leaders given official seats on the Advisory Council. Given small amounts of autonomy, these families competed heavily for favor and honor by conquering land on the mainland. Thus between 1730 and 1750, Korea and Manchuria were conquored and naturalized. Now the Emperor Kokakku seeks the Jade Throne in Beijing and expanding and modernizing the Japanese Empire.

I'm keeping the population the same. Japan's population at this time was 26 million, Korea and Manchuria make up the other 26 million

If we are going to skip ahead to the 1880's, lets do it after a few days so we have a bit of time before the time jump.

And also, I propose we have some sort of chance system whereby we have a good and bad outcomes numbered and you use a random number generator and you have to accept whatever outcome there is. This would make the RP a hell of a lot more realistic as you would have to RP your response to things outside of your control.

Of course, this idea can be refined to make it work really well.

I like the theory behind it, and I had similar ideas for battle outcomes, but the main problem is that when everyone's behind a computer screen there's no way to tell if they're "cheating" when they roll the dice or use the RNG program.

This one to about 1780 maybe. Then we can hop on to 1830 or so, then 1865 maybe, then perhaps 1910. If everyone still wants to keep going, which I doubt, then we'll carry on into the more modern era.
