What are the inactive nation? It does strike me as bizarre if you don't have a China, even half of one. By that logic, India shouldn't be on the map either.

Well, even India had to be split into three competing regions (see map) to keep it from being too strong. Personally I'd like to see someone RP as part of China, as they're a key power in the overall balance of things.

But right now, I think the OP's concerned that there are more than enough players. You can always take over for an inactive player, though - Rome hasn't posted in ages, and I'm not sure about Japan.

Well about the too strong China. It seems to me that even a mostly united China would be under pressure from a greatly expanded Japan and Mongol presence. If Japan is available I will take it but it seems to me that having a China is more important than having a Japan, especially at this year.

Can I just say that for such a small (originally) nation Musoma seems to have grown at such an incredible rate, especially seeing as the amount of territory he seems to be conquering far outstrips the speed I was going at when i was told to slow down and yet he hasn't been warned at all, in fact he's pretty much tripled his original size in less than a week (OOC) with a much smaller and less modernized army than i was using and the amount of territory I've gained is probably about half my original size (and my invasion has been going on for a lot longer).

Am I the only person who's seen this and annoyed by it?

Now that you speak of it... It's a bit strange, really. In a few days, he conquered a lot of land in Africa (even connected his nation to the Atlantic), and made a colony in Brazil. ...That colony is bigger than mine. And I've been playing for more time than him.

I didn't even think it was expansion, but now, as you say it, it looks impossible. The armies can't even go that fast on horseback. And African nations lacks the administrative powers to keep up with such a rapid growth. Besides, the peoples of Africa are fiercely independent, so a nation conquering this many would overstretch at this rate.

I was thinking I'd grown too quickly as well. I will reduce my size. Although my army is not small and low tech as you said: it numbered 54,000 when I joined and 40% of troops were carrying muskets, whilst the remainder were using swords, bows, etc. The main artillery weapon used were cannons. Although please note I will NOT be expanding any time soon: maybe in like 2 weeks if the RP is still going then.

Okay how much do you think is reasonable expansion?

These territories are sparsely populated and mostly inhabited by tribes who fight amongst themselves who have the most primitive of weaponry

In comparison, I have a large, well trained force of 55,500, 40% of whom use muskets and 10% a sort of bayonet my scientists invented by sticking a traditional African blade under the muzzle of the musket.

In addition, my soldiers have high morale and believe that they are fighting for God and the end of oppression

On Page 1 of the IC thread, you signed a Mutual-Defense Pact with Prussia saying that "If the Spartan Empire (or an allied nation of theirs) is to infringe the sovereignty of either of our peoples through invasion or other, said person shall declare war on the aforementioned."

So while Prussia hasn't officially declared war on North France, it would still be a little underhanded to suddenly abandon us and switch over to Sparta's Pact.

That depends on how you look at it. The British and their allies say Occitania is the aggressor, and vice versa.

Although they're bot supposed to be in the pact. It looks like the time has come to finally choose.

I was wondering why he was able to contact the Inca, and the fact that he ask for private spice plantations in Dvipantara. IC wise, highly suspicious, OOC wise, nigh-godmodding, from my point of view.

I'm not an uncivilized African nation. In fact, most of Musoma's population have Somali and Arab ancestry and are the descendants of Somali and Arab settlers. 95% of the population is Muslim and so this is the main reason why they have a high level of civilization. They've brought over weapons, knowledge and ways of governance from Somalia and the Middle East and settled in the territories that comprise Musoma. I'm guessing you guys thought Musoma is some sort of isolated tribal kingdom. I would say Musoma is easily on par with the UHS and the Khaganate.

I think you guys have a fair point. I will reduce my territory to basically a little more than I started with, but will keep my colony in Brazil if that's fine. It's quite small anyways.

Actually, Arabs did make contact with Native Indians and even to this day there are archaeological specimens proving their presence. In fact, this is why you'll find Native Indian Muslims in the US. But that's beside the point

That's the point of Alt-History. After all, I don't recall reading about Spartans and Ionians colonizing the New World.

But still, the territorial expansion in Africa is a little excessive, even if you gained most of it through diplomatic marriages with local tribal confederations.

What Caliphate? The Umayyads went from Morocco to Persia and I think they were the largest. Howver, my main problem is not overall size but rate of expansion and your colonies. The Islamic world peaked before the New World was discovered.

I'm kind of excited with that Middle East pact idea, and I don't have much else to do... Blassland and Blazing Aura, may I send you the invitation...? Unless you think this can wait a bit more.

(And yes, Soodean, I don't object against him having a colony, just at how quickly the expansion was.)
