Now that's out of the way, that gives an interesting way to open trade relations though.
No, lassie-fare economics I do not agree with. I like capitalism, but I still want to protect my own merchants and companies. Think of me as the Iron Chancellor on politics and economics.
And when you get a trade agreement with me you get sent these passes. Therefore Japan is my only trading partner, but India can survive on its own for the most part.

Well consider this, most land trade reaching the east comes through me, some going through you. In any case, I sent my leader to conquer the fractured Chinese Kingdoms so if you want to parley, post about it.

Well, I mean, you don't really have that many trade agreements so your silk route is a little calm right now, to the point that it doesn't have the same glory as before

It's the minor traders not the state treaty kind. The Philippines got traders from China to India to Arabia, for some historical context, no trade treaty so its only the enterprising traders got to go. Also, thanks for the help.
............ But you need Khanate stamped passes to cross our well protected borders. And smugglers and illegals are deported.

You don't need trade agreements for the Silk Road, my nation serves as a middlemen, we grow rich off merchants who pass through so we get the best of east and west. As long we don't block trade, it happens automatically as it has for centuries.

That is if nations in Europe have trade agreements with nations in Asia, which I don't think I see plenty of them. Moreover, that is as well, if nations encourage traders to go through there. In other words Mr Dires, I see you profit from those routes when nations in both sides trade, so you better keep those nations in that side safe, and do not provoke the nations in this side, because then if it happens otherwise, I don't think your nation will be receiving the blessings from this route

I don't think you guys are portraying trade accurately in this time, its not like today where everything is super regulated, trade is going to happen simply because merchants know how to make money, not because nations agree to trade each other. As long as we don't prevent trade, it happens automatically, especially over land. There is no good reason to stop this trade either, it makes everyone richer. I'm not threatening anybody, I'm just stating that trade in reality doesn't start with nations, but with citizens.
