So? Mighty Mo is the only battleship that served passed it's due date. Could fire it's 406mm guns accurately at over a mile.. That there, that's impressive.

Big Mamie fired the first and last US 16mm rounds of WW2, took down a french battleship and several Italian cruisers, and fought hard to protect her carrier groups in the pacific, and she never lost a single sailor or marine.

As for the RP. Now that I know Akaga is still in I can finish my post. Will probably go up sometime tomorrow, no promises though. I can promise by the end of Monday though.

During it's campaign in Desert Storm Mighty Mo didn't suffer any casualties either. It also fired 759 16 in shells and launched 28 Tomahawk cruise missiles.

I also can't find any sources that say she took any casualties in Korea either.
I cannot watch youtube, so please stop giving me links there.

Didn't they also sign the peace treaty that ended WW2 on her deck? Or was that already discussed?

The US military in general hardly suffered any casualties in Desert Storm so you can't really use that as an example, and there were hardly and naval engagements in Korea.

The fact that Massachusetts made it through the largest war in history, start to finish, and didn't suffer any casualties. That is impressive.

Wouldn't it be more logical for parts of crew to run around one ship, rather than just one crew would control an entire warship?

So, uh, the Italo-Ethiopian Wars, World War I, the Spanish Civil War, amongst others, never happened?

Darn history books need to be rewritten. Had me thinking all these wars happened, when they never did.

Didn't Italy side with the Central Powers in World War I, but changed over to the Triple Entete's side before the War ended?

No, they declined to join the Central Powers and a year after the war began, entered on the Entente's side.

They had a bone to pick with Austria.

In the First Italo-Ethiopian War, Italy lost. In the Second Italo-Ethiopian War, Italy won, but lost their colonial stake when they surrendered in WW2.

In World War 1, Italy was originally in the Tripe Alliance with Germany and Austria-Hungary until it switched in 1915 over to the Allies til the end of the war.

And in the Spanish Civil War, they played their hand in it. They supported it. But they did not outright command their own troops.

All in all, in the early 20th century, 3/10 would not ally with Italy

They were entirely outnumbered, and tanks hadn't been invented yet.

17,000 men are not going to be able to defeat over 120,000 men, 80,000 - 100,000 of whom are armed with firearms. In the end, the Ethiopians suffered more casualties than the Italians.

Monfrox wrote:In the Second Italo-Ethiopian War, Italy won, but lost their colonial stake when they surrendered in WW2.

That doesn't negate the fact that they defeated the Ethiopians.

Italy had already lost it's colonies before it surrendered. The reason Badoglio wanted to surrender in the first place was because the Allies had seized Sicily, and were planning to invade the mainland. Next to none of the Fascists had liked the Germans in the first place, for good reason, so staying true to an alliance was rather meaningless.

Monfrox wrote:In World War 1, Italy was originally in the Tripe Alliance with Germany and Austria-Hungary until it switched in 1915 over to the Allies til the end of the war.

Italy never joined the war in the Continental Powers' favor in the first place. It didn't start fighting the Entente before suddenly switching sides when things were bleak.

Monfrox wrote:And in the Spanish Civil War, they played their hand in it. They supported it. But they did not outright command their own troops.

That's irrelevant, because Italy still participated, but not in a direct manner.

Using this same logic, the United States and Soviet Union never participated in the Cold War.

So then why the hell did they even try to go to war in the first place?

It does because it was pointless. Just like Germany's conquest of Europe and North Africa and Japan's conquest of the Pacific. All were eventually lost.

It still had sided with the Trip Alliance prior to it's involvement. That's still a switch.

It's totally relevant.

The USA and USSR participated in the Cold War because that's what it was. A Cold War. Neither side directly engaged each other outright. But since they, like Italy in the SCW, had no real direct engagements with each other, there was no WW3 which would've been a different case altogether.

We can sit here forever and argue about how Italy is the third wimpiest Country (2nd= USA{Social policy wise} and 1st place goes to France{Lel}) but it won't get us anywhere. We should just accept that Italy wasn't always under a steryotype, but in many cases it did. An technically, WW1 to WW2 was just a twenty year armistice. (Actual quote right at the end of WW1.) So why don't we all go eat some pasta, cry ourselves to sleep, and take all the pleasure in that we can before we die. Because.. In the end, all that you want to remember is the good times. Never the bad.
