The norm goes up to 3 million, but you're too far north for that. I'd set the beginning max for you to about 750 000, with recommendations for it to be smaller (250 to 500 thousand).

I don't know any of the languages, but I find Japanese a lot easier to remember. I know more than 20 words in Japanese, and am going total otaku while learning more. They just stick to my mind when I hear them. Meanwhile, I only know 4 or so words in German.

But I don't get how that is boring. I mean, you always have your childhood friends near you, if you never move. Here, I have to make new friends, and I rarely get to. I have five total friends, I think.
