Looking at the various produce that was stocked, he heard whispers about a purge of some sort that was supposed to be happening nearby. He thought nothing of it, and began to scan the drinks. He began to jot down the various things he would be eating that night: Potatoes, steaks, beer. Grabbing those items, he headed for checkout. He spoke with the cashier, who was quite used to seeing Mike at the store.
"Looking for a decent dinner, Mike?" she asked. Mike found her quite attractive, but noticed the bruises on her arms.
"Yeah. Say, who've you been with recently?" he questioned.
"Just some guys. Why?". He pointed at her arms.
"You've been near the human side and got jumped, didn't you?"
The cashier said nothing and tallied the price: 21.07. Paying her the amount, he took a few dollars and gave it to her.
"Hopefully the situation has died down around there, and it'll be safe to walk at night." He smiled, walking out.
He heard a patrol vehicle and hid in the shadows. For some reason, buying things from Nevidians was frowned upon. He watched it slowly drive by, it looked like it was searching for something.
Lancearc wrote:"It is often that we cannot control the circumstances of meetings such as these, I understand." the Nevidian man spoke, nodding towards Edeson. "It is good to meet you in person, I regret that our presence in London had been more in the form of artillery shells up until this point."

He heard a patrol vehicle and hid in the shadows. For some reason, buying things from Nevidians was frowned upon. He watched it slowly drive by, it looked like it was searching for something.
A group of six HGV men walked the streets, three on one end, three on the other. The first trio entered the store and happened upon the Nevidian woman. "Well well, look what we got here, a Nevidian business owner... now that's just a disturbing sight indeed. Trash the place boys, we're shutting this down!"
"No, please!" The cashier had come out from her checkstand and rushed toward them, pleading. He backhanded her, the strike knocking her to the ground. "Silence, bitch, you'll get what's coming to you soon enough."
Within moments they ransacked the place and took what cash they could find. The woman regained her composure and tried to make a hasty run for the exit. As she got there and swung the door open, a hand grabbed her by her white hair and yanked her back in. She screamed into the streets.
"Where do you think you're running off to? That's no way to show your respect to your superiors you dirt dweller... boys, show her what happens when a Nevidian shows such disrespect...."

He waited for one of the HGV men to approach him. Seemed like the bastard was taping it. Grabbing one of the beer bottles, Mike wrapped the bottle in a discarded shirt and smashed it. He hid until the man was close enough to silence. Grabbing him by the mouth and pulling him down, Mike stabbed the man multiple times in his unexposed neck, and dragged him off.
I just killed a man. Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck. Gun! Does he have one?
Mike grabbed the gun from it's holster. It was his first time with a handgun in awhile (having been a frequent hunter in Canada). Staying in the shadows, he aimed down the ironsights at the first HGV beating upon the owner. He pulled the trigger and watched the man fall, cursing as the others started to look for him. He shot the four others in quick succession, not caring if they were wounded or not. Running over to the shopkeeper, one of the officers grabbed his leg, tripping him. Mike beat the mans head in with multiple kicks, aiming for the bridge of the nose. Grabbing the shopkeeper, he ran down the alley. He ran into an abandoned building (there are many around here), and locked and blocked the door with various items. Putting the shopkeeper down, he began to pace. He looked out the window to see a couple of cruisers drive by, not knowing his location.

One of the HGV had managed to get on the radio and within minutes a swarm of patrols and groups of HGV cluttered the site. Orders were barked off and HGV men grouped in fours were to comb the streets for the man responsible for this. The rest had all but left the store a ghost of itself. Those that had survived the shoot out were laid on gurneys and placed in a makeshift truck that doubled as an ambulance.
"Scour the streets, lads, and make sure this area knows we mean business. The HGV will not stand for this!" Their leader shouted at them as they dispersed into the streets.
The cashier, beaten and bloodied looked at Mike, "Why did you save me? You're as dead as I am now." She coughed and it ached her body to do it.

He started to close the blinds in the building. It appeared to have been an apartment of some kind before it's abandonment. He sat down in a chair, listening to the outside. "Never liked the bastards anyways." he stared at the pistol, a fair weight it was. A shiny black weapon that could drop a target quite a distance away. He checked the slide on it, making sure it was smooth. "Believing oneself is better than another, that's something I stand against. Seeing you get beaten wasn't something I enjoyed watching. But I don't run, which'll probably get me killed eventually." He looked back at the nevidian, "You got anywhere to stay?"

"Yes of course," Edeson said with a nod and gestured for all of them to their ascent into Parliament. "It is quite a surprise to see you here, m'lord, to be frank, we simply were not expecting you yet. May I be so bold as to ask why you chose such a turbulent time to come?" Edeson had to suppress his anxiety as he spoke, a cynical side of him smirking as he thought he sounded like a politician wet behind the ears. He also noticed the emperor's regard concerning Malone but did nothing to address it; that was the last thing he wanted to do.

She shook her head, "No... the apartment above the store was mine, and from the sounds outsides, I think its as good as gone."
The cashier considered it for a moment before speaking up again. She winced when she moved her body to lie against the wall, though this position was much better than her last despite the momentary pang of pain. "There is... a place. We just call it a Sanctuary. Mostly Nevidians go to it, but all are welcomed as long as they don't intend harm upon others or themselves. I'll go there. What about you? You can't stay here forever and the HGV are known to lurk about days after such things like these."

"Everyone's welcomed there... well, except the HGV. It's well hidden for good reason," she hissed when a pain struck through her upper body. She wondered if the beating she suffered was far worse than she could imagine. Which internally she despaired a little as she hadn't the money or resources to take care of any medical expenses. Sanctuary could offer some aid but they too could be limited and she knew first hand on those times they were. Still, it was better than nothing at this point. He unloaded the pistol.
"Five rounds is what i've got. I'll do my best to take you there."
He began to search around for an exit. Walking about the room, he spotted a rear entrance. Checking the door know, he found it to be unlocked. He peered outside, looking into an alleyway. He walked back and tore down some window shades, turning them into bandages. He began to work on some of the bleeding areas, cleaning the wound with some alcohol from his flask. He tightened the bandages and helped her up.
"There's a door back there that leads to the alley. You lead, I'll follow."

Pleaos shook his head, "No, we don't, but thank you for the offer. Sanctuary has managed to maintain its hidden location because those that we've housed, Nevidian and human alike, have swore not to reveal its location to the HGV. We don't ask for anything in return and we certainly don't condone violence as a way to keep ourselves hidden. Though," he looked at the weapon Mike had placed on the table, "we do understand why there's fighting in the city. Let us hope it ends soon. Where will you go? Thelin was in a light slumber, fleeting in and out of rest for the last few hours. She was becoming restless, and some part of her panicked at the thought of not having a place to stay past Sanctuary. Nevidians didn't mind housing together, but she had been so used to being on her own, she had actually forgotten the old customary ways of her people. Blinking her eyes to consciousness, she saw Mike by her bed and Thelin bid him a small smile and a soft, "Hey."

As the two men conversed, Kylia sat in a corner, her head propped up on the wall behind her. She was breathing heavily as the adrenaline slowly drained out of her system and the pain began taking over again. She flinched at times, covering the wound with her hand and cringing. The lower left-hand side of her sweatshirt was now covered in blood, as was a small section of the floor beneath her. "If you two are done getting to know each oth-" she began, but stopped again covering her wound and letting out a suppressed yelp. Trying to keep her breathing under control, she locked eyes with the Scottish man, "The GEE," she said under her breath, "your with-" she paused, cringing at the pain that was now beginning to really set in, "your with the GEE."
