We've got to get away from "I posted and no one noticed" stuff. That's why Cer suggested giving people a heads up in OOC beforehand to make sure characters were available. I've got Naomi handy but I'm focused on getting GT's story done so his characters can depart, and I'm working on two collabs with players behind the scenes.

PEEPS...
Does anyone have a character they can use to get Dimitrus settled in?

Not the one from Ace Combat. This one is specific to dark times and love.

Cause Thriller and Swith are on the roof with them, silly. Read one of my posts and Swith's post following the one that mentions Thriller heading up to the roof, silly buttkins.

Nope. They're taking off soon. She and Swith can console each other. Unless you're going to bed, and then I'll just have Swith go downstairs.

I'm sending Ogoti up to deliver a gift for Sapphire. Natiya and Swith can get comfort from him if you both want.

Make it go into the city tomorrow? GT's final sendoff (and surprise for the city) is tonight.

What does the thing do?

We can still do the rain, right? I worked it out so it, well... works... and doesn't conflict with NA's stuff.

Yes. I thought Torsi was going to NPC since he put a man at the desk, though.

Doesn't matter. I've changed it so its different now, and rain doesn't cause it to react as horribly...... So it doesn't really matter, anyway.

Also, When will your tablet thing be wrapped up, Prim? I was planning on having the main part of my next SCP begin after your thing is over....

His last post has the character calling out to see if anyone's there. http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?p=16047755#p16047755

Fuck. We're working on a collab. Man I totally spaced it. My humblest apologies Tilt and Swith.

@Swith. Yes to the rain. NA's moving in a different direction. It's all good.

Eh, it's cool. I can just have her wander off and crash in the sisters' room. They'll kick her out later, and she'll really have to get her own place.

Also, is Prim still online? I feel like moving the Sisters/Prim thing along some.

Edit: nevermind on the first thing.

I wanted to get around to throwing this at you people sooner, but hey, here I am.

Nation Nickname: Lows.

Character Name (can be different than nation name): Anya Veldt

URL to Character Picture or a few sentences about what they look like: Done.

Character Species (nation personification, human, alien, etc): National Personification.

Character Powers/Special Abilities: A capable petroleum, nuclear, and vehicle engineer, skilled markswoman (not that that's unusual, here), and increasingly capable drunk. Occasionally able to eliminate the supernatural or Deus Ex Machina simply by questioning their place in reality, causing them to fail. (This last bit, of course, is subject to circumstance.) Fluent in Dutch, Spanish, Malay, and English.

Character Weaknesses/Flaws: Aggressive, despite anger management classes, and a semi-alcoholic, Anya has extreme difficulty in keeping some impulsiveness in check, and can come across as cold or boorish. She is extremely protective of her 'family' (such as it is) and despite over a century to get over it, still despises monarchism in every way, shape, and form.

Background:
Anya's story begins with the Dutch Republic's colonization of Indonesia; the exploitation of indigenous peoples and vast profits generated by the spice trade were two factors which heavily encouragement settlement by wealthy Dutch individuals in the fortress-cities constructed by the Dutch East India Company to ensure control over the spice market. A sense of a kind of national identity emerging in the multi-ethnic and multicultural city of Batavia is presumed to have led to the spawning of Anya herself. Popularised as the 'immortally young woman,' Anya's existence soon became clear to the personification of the Netherlands, one William of Orange (no relation to the actual Orange family) who sought her out and treated her like a daughter.

When the formation of the Republic of Batavia as a cause of the Napoleonic Wars led to William's death, Anya was forced to grow up very rapidly; attempted British incursions and numerous official attempts by the French puppet state to regain control of the former colonies led to Anya taking a leadership role in the Admiralty. It was as a result of this that the New Lowlands quickly grew into a proper nation-state, with territorial control over most of Indonesia gained by various alliances of mutual necessity between the colonists and the indigenous peoples; this led to the earliest form of the Dutch-speaking state of the New Lowlands, which rapidly assumed a militaristic stance against colonial incursion in both Malaysia and the Philippines, Anya at the head of this as the temporary chief of the Lowlandian Marines Corps. It was during this time that Anya's ethnicity changed, too, as many, many Dutch-speaking indigenous folk were granted citizenship by an actually intelligent administration.

As the Napoleonic Wars rapidly drew to a close, Anya looked forward to William's return; however, when it came at the head of a war-fleet from the newly-formed Kingdom of the Netherlands, the New Lowlands were quick to properly establish their independence, which led to a brief golden age of rapid industrialisation. Close ties to Germany prior to the First World War meant that the New Lowlands could ensure their independence from the other colonial powers, as open trade between the two nation helped arm the New Lowlands and helped supply Germany; the war's result was, however, rendered inevitable by a British blockade of Germany, and the New Lowlands did not participate in the First World War. Anya settled down in a state-provided house in Batavia during this time, now recognized as a scientific anomaly and as the nation's personification.
The Second World War reared it's ugly head, and Anya was conscripted into the armed forces to fight a long, bloody, multi-front campaign against Japan, co-operating closely with Australia (and particularly their personification) and often coming into conflict with America (although this luckily did not lead to any violence.)

It was during this cataclysmic period that Anya adopted the young boy Phillip, the personification of so-called 'Lowlandian Malaysia;' a territory annexed for security purposes by the Lowlandian State, today still a federal subject. After WW2, her relationship with Oz was cut off by a break-up, and subsequently, by Anya systematically denying his advances.

IMPORTANT:
One paragraph that sums up your character. This paragraph is what we'll use on your player tab on the first page of the thread. This MUST be brief. Your tab will contain a link to your application so people will have full details: A veteran of three militaries from different eras, Anya Veldt is quick to anger, slow to forget, and most importantly, a good shot with an assault rifle, so try not to get on her bad side. Like talking, long walks on the beach, and toying with heavy machinery. Is also very much attached to her adoptive son, Phillip; don't touch him.

Nation Nickname: Phil.

Character Name (can be different than nation name): Phillip Veldt

URL to Character Picture or a few sentences about what they look like: Phillip is a typical, brown-skinned, brown-haired, 14-year-old boy of Filipino descent, with a smooth complexion and a pleasant smile.

Character Species (nation personification, human, alien, etc): Sub-National Personification.

Character Powers/Special Abilities: A clever young man with a knack for understanding- that is, of both people and concepts- Phillip's big schtick is that he's quick to learn just about anything. Also good at video games. Fluent in Dutch, Spanish, and English.

Character Weaknesses/Flaws: Smart as he may be, Phillip is still a boy, with all the typical conditions and problems of a teenager, and as a child doesn't have much going for him combat-wise. (not that that last part will be relevant.)

Background:
Phillip's story is slightly vague; he popped into existence as the fledgling national personification of the Philippines, and during the Spanish colonial period over the islands was subjected to rather harsh treatment at the hands of Spain for a long, long time. With the Spanish-American war and Phillip's handover to the United States, things got slightly better, until Japan's particularly cruel treatment of the nation (and, by extension, Phillip.) A rousing national consciousness caused Phillip to mature rapidly, but as the Philippines were liberated and came under the care and administration of the New Lowlands, his ageing reversed until he came under the care of Anya Veldt. Decades of slow development followed before Phillip slowly came to trust his new caretaker; he has come to see Anya as a friend and confidant, and has eased into his new life as a relatively normal teenage boy with remarkable ease, although he continues to protest to Anya's chagrin that Oz is his adoptive father.
