Constaniana wrote:The road ran through an increasingly thick forest, as worn cobblestones gave way to occasional bits of broken stone stuck in the dirt, tree roots crisscrossing the path frequently. Eventually the party emerged from the forest into a meadow filled almost entirely with long, overgrown grass. However, there was a very obvious trail where the beast must have passed through, with the long shoots snapped or bent aside. At the end of the trail lay what was once a mighty fortress. Many sections of the old outer walls had collapsed long ago, but the keep in the centre was still fairly intact.
"Oh brilliant, a dilapidated castle," Kroisoto murmured under his breath, examining the ground with a scowl. "And apparently the beast stopped bleeding here or managed to close up its wound or Host knows what. Wonderful."
"So where should we look?" Aldraniri wondered aloud, peering around the entrance hall as he entered the ruin. There were three pathways the boy could see: a corridor on the left and right sides of the hall, and a room straight ahead with suits of old armour on display and staircases on the sides.

Constaniana wrote:"I imagine the slime woman is fine, Aldraniri. More importantly we need to focus on finding the creature. The archaeological sightseeing can wait," Kroisoto remarked, finishing his study of the enchanted armour for now. He looked up the staircases and down the hall, crossing his arms as he thought. "Estrada and the golem seem to get along, so they can look through one of those corridors on the left or right side we saw when we first entered this keep to start off. Charlie and I will check further down this way, and Master Alsvidster can take the blue woman to investigate the corridor that Estrada and the stone man don't search, since I certainly don't get how she works. Make sure she doesn't get herself killed or anything. If we can't find anything on this floor then we can search the upper levels, although given how unstable the staircases may be I'm doubtful the beast is up higher in this place."
"He certainly enjoys the Southern girl's company. Well she's not that bad looking, and if she was adopted into some notable family in the capital then it would make sense for a noble to begin trying to court her. Or he could just want to get under her skirts, I suppose," Aldraniri thought while nodding in agreement with Kroisoto's proposal. The redhead walked out of the room he was currently in, figuring the blue person would follow him for something to do. Both the left and right corridors the party had noticed upon entering were fairly uniform, with nothing too exciting in them, except for the large, ornate tapestries on both walls, showing Elementals battling daemon hordes with fire and swords. Right at the end of the antique pieces of art the battle seemed to be growing fiercer and fiercer, only for the ends to have been crudely torn off. After the tapestry ended both groups would find they were in an area with many small rooms-what appeared to be dormitories of some sort.
As for Kroisoto and Charlie, their path was devoid of massive depictions of ancient battles. Instead, old, worn crimson banners hung from small poles in the walls. While time had certainly taken its toll on the standards, a yellow painting of a sun with two vermilion swords put through it horizontally could be noticed on each of them. Additionally, ancient runes were written in a ring around the centre images, though they were illegible by now.
"It makes you wonder how old this place really is. If I'm not mistaken, these are old Imperial colours, and I don't think some minor lord would have been permitted to use them," Kroisoto mused as the pair of teenagers arrived at an intersection in the keep's hallways. There were corridors on their left and right, with a staircase leading both up and down in front of them.

Constaniana wrote:Aldraniri peered around some of the rooms, seeing if there was anything interesting in them. However, the cells all seemed alike, with a simple bed, a shrine of some sort with a few burnt-out candles and a picture of what the boy guessed was Pryastar, and a chest for belongings. However, the chests didn't have much in them; A few old letters that were nigh impossible to read, perhaps a rusting knife or two, things like that. He stepped back into the hallway, noticing the slime girl wasn't there. Going back a few paces he spotted her in the hallway, frowning at the old tapestry.
"Hey, come on Blue," said Aldraniri, figuring that adding the word person was unnecessary. "There's plenty of space here we need to look through..although it's not that interesting so far. Just a bunch of bedrooms or something..." the redhead explained, sounding a bit bored about the whole thing.
"Well, my House's crest is a white albatross flying over a ship, painted on a light blue field, because of all the shipping and other maritime businesses Aurenheim is involved with. I'd imagine whoever used to own this castle was somehow related to or involved with fire or light Elementals, especially warrior ones," Kroisoto replied, noticing Charlie's apparent eagerness to go upstairs. "Well, I suppose we could go upstairs, if you want. This staircase looks like it's rather sturdy, so there's there's the possibility the beast might have climbed up it...and if it isn't up there then at least we're being thorough. Besides, you're the detective; I'll trust your judgement, Miss Kones," The young man said, smiling a little as he began walking up the staircase up to the next floor.
Like the areas that the rest of the group were in, aside from Tristan, Kroisoto and Charlie seemed to be in a residential section, though the rooms were somewhat bigger, and there were less of them. A bit further down the halls, however were a few locked rooms, with sturdy-looking doors.

Although some doors were missing and a thick layer of dust covered everything, it looked relatively safe to walk down. Turning to Amata, the Calainte asked, "Shall we go then?" Estrada didn't wait for an answer, shouldering his way through the aperture and starting to move cautiously down the hall. A sharp crack startled him as a board gave way. Estrada winced and moved with a lighter tread to the nearest closed door.
Peering inside, all that was visible was a few beds and articles of clothing strewn about. But none of it looked overly disturbed. . . How curious. He stepped back out into the hallway, brushing cobwebs from his face, and looked further on into the darkness. "Are you sure these boards will hold, Amata?" he called back.

Amata frowned, looking down. "Give me a moment." he said back to Estrada, then stood up straight - as if a soldier on parade - before bits and pieces sharded off of his body, surrounding him with a cloud of small, hovering stones, his face even less mobile than normal due to the concentration of holding each shard in place, a few inches from him, and walked forwards, and exceptionally thin 'man' - even so, the boards creaked dangerously. "With this... they should... but takes... concentration..."
