I made, like, the greatest monk build ever: Ranger 1/Fighter 4/Monk 11/Fist of the Forest 3/Psychic Warrior 1. Six attacks per round dealing 3d6+11 damage. Also, 45 AC, damage reduction, spell resistance, regeneration, among other nifty things. Best of all, you can turn into a bear twice per day.

Just the last power alone is reason to call it the greatest monk ever.

I had a pretty snazzy monk build in Bravely Default for the final boss that I made up. When the monk gets its job level maxed out it unlocks an ability that doubles the already monstrous physical attack power it wields, but only if it has no armour or weapons equipped. I paired it with the Conjurer job, letting my monk Ringabel raise his already superb attack to 900% of its base level, and boost his critical rate to 600%, which was vital for quickly unlocking his special attacks, not to mention fortifying his defence a bit to make up for the lack of armour. He and my knight with dual shields generally maxed out the regular damage limit with nearly every attack they made.
