'My Lord, they have released the Flood.'
'Ah, the Flood. Tell me, this is a Halo ring, correct? And we all know they can be fired. So, we are left with two options. Either kill all life on the ring using the ring itself, or let the Flood spread through the Galaxy. I believe the latter is a rather sound option. The Lord of Plagues would be proud on these Forerunners for releasing it. Contact the Mechanicus fleet. Tell them to let the Flood leave this place, and spread. For the Glory of Chaos, obviously.'
'Aye Lord.'

With bezerkers somehow making it so far within the space of Forerunners it wasn't difficult to isolate the small group, using door controls, and swarming sentinels in until they were killed, barbaric but still the most effective method. However other forces were retreating, and so in the name of peace a plan was hatched. As the Bezerkers on the front lines had retreated the first plan was halted, seeing no need to give up space, and with new enforcers it would be easier to deal with larger groups. From vantage points such as the canons ridges snipers began picking off whoever seemed to be in charge, before dashing off to a second position, making it very difficult to target them as they ducked behind the canyons.
"Surly this is too far?!"
"It is the most effective means of victory, with the largest success rating. Besides containment protocols will be established as soon as possible"
"...Fuck it, do it."
With that Forerunner teams activated terminals and slowly began selecting chambers inside Chaos territory. With the push of a few buttons they opened, and the creatures were released deep within the borders of Chaos territory...
In orbit ships continued to pound at the less advanced ships, finishing off the larger ships with their concentrated fire as sentinels continued to rip open ships, to destroy and disable vital systems.
At the release of the flood, initially, they were swarmed by cultists and serfs. But when the serfs and cultists began becoming hosts,a new tactic was used.Arhiman himself was sent in.His pure Psychic power was killing any infected in his presence.Meanwhile, daemons have attacked the forerunner troops from behind, and the forerunners are now surrounded. In orbit, the sentinels were in a fierce fight against the daemons.Meanwhile, the the Bezerkers on forerunner ships did not stop, at all.

Several Word Bearers companies are transported to the Idolator Raider, and wait for Kor Phaeron's orders. Several hundreds of Word Bearers prepare for battle by chanting prayers and checking their equipment. Many have been given siege shields and siege weapons. At the Black Cardinal's arrival, the frigate descends into the artificial atmosphere of the installation, towards the control room. Once it is close enough, it begins launching drop pods and Thunderhawk Gunships.

As the ship made it's way to the atmosphere it was apparent that sentinels had been preparing for attempts to enter the installation. The 'net' created to stop ships from making contact acted as expected, they attacked. With sentinels following the ship, quickly replaced by more at the net, they would attempt to make a tear in the ship using strato-sentinels, before they filled in as the stratos moved onto a next point. Making it further down anti-air fire was focused on the large ship getting closer to their defenses. However they felt confident; the whole defense fleet was encircling one point, with defenses at ground entrances and sentinels in the sky. They just hoped that the orbital defenses would be able to at least damage their attack before they made it there.
High above in orbit, the captain activated the release mechanism, and his structure began to fall from the sky. passing through the net as if it was semi-permeable to Forerunners, it heated up, before looking like a meteorite and slamming a few kilometers away from the site. Out of the ground a massive mechanized vehicle arose, a seeker. It took it's place, boosting moral as it took the front line and aimed at the approaching ship, a large 06 on it's 'chest'

In orbit it was seen that some ships began to break away, heading for the ring itself. This fell into the plan of the Forerunners, as now the ships had to head towards them and past them to do so after they positioned themselves between the installation and them. The ships which would attempt an orbital bombardment would come under fire from light ships, with larger ships still firing focused beams at the main fleet, until it reached the sentinel net, which proceeded to tear at the ship. With this they hoped that any kind of support would be slowed or prevented, the latter what they wished for.
Down on the surface troops still awaited for attacks, and besides for the ship which seemed to be out of control, yet it was disputed, no other forces could be spotted. The seeker stood, firing upon the ship with its weapons capable of leveling a city. It had not moved from it's original landing zone of 2km from the main force, which was still digging in with the help of hardlight shields now covering the defensive positions, and with the force needed to secure a third of the ring at a medium sized LZ they were digging in good. More troops were still arriving, with them being less needed in orbit due to sentinel presence. Scouts took up scouting roles, spotting for enemy movements while snipers took up positions on top of canyons, but even from such a large distance away they could tell that the flood was getting out of hand fast.
The flood was spreading still, with attempts to contain some for transportation infection rates grew in those areas, yet fire was working. Flood burned at the touch of it in quantities, yet numbers couldn't help but grow with the amount of cannon fodder around, with groups spreading far and wide throughout the force. The flood was a perfect weapon but also the worst, while troops were on the ground they would continue to infect and spread, using numbers against the enemy, yet when that problem goes you become the prey. They could only hope that the plan for the flood to fix the problem for them would work, and then they would fix this problem. 06's monitor was continuously panicking at the sensors, spotting flood spread rapidly as the enemy attempted to adjust to the new threat. They seemed to be adjusting well, yet the flood were something of a whole new scale.
