Cedric noticed Scarecrow looking at the sky. It reminded Cedric of one of his favorite things to do. On the rare occasions where Cedric wasn't either hunting some enemy or training to hunt some enemy, Cedric liked to just go outside, take a deep breath, and take his mask off for a few moments. Of course, Cedric couldn't do this often, he'd done more sitting around in the last 48 hours than he had in the past few years on his Earth. Cedric walked up next to Scarecrow and noticed that he was watching the fighting going on rather than just looking around, though that little tidbit didn't matter. "It's nice to be able to just stand around and take a break, eh?" Cedric said. Not long ago he was itching to go out and kill something, but his recent thoughts had reminded him that this was his first chance for a break in years. He could afford to waste a few minutes, especially if nobody else was out killing endless.

Shade crossed her arms.

"I'd think you'd find someone with a bit more medical experiance than I, but I'll give it my best shot. Sounds like he might have an infection. Any open cuts?"

"Hell I don't know. I am not even sure if this is a bad thing. I mean, he is a heat manipulator, right?"

Shade looked at Plasma as if he was an idiot.

"Exactly you moron, he's not supposed to get a fever. Let me see 'im."

She went over to Napalm, searching for any open wounds.

Scarecrow looked at the armored man and nodded his head.

"Ain't nothin' better than a 'lil fresh air once in a while. Virginia's nice and all, but it ain't Georgia. Man, I miss home right about now."

It was true: Scarecrow could not wait to go back to Atlanta and get away from the madness. His life had been going downhill since his trip to Eudoninium.

"Ain't that the truth." Cedric said. "I can't exactly say I miss my home, but I'm still needed there." Cedric honestly didn't miss his Earth. It was a shithole. Unless you liked radiation and death it was not a fun place to be. Still, Cedric knew that a lot of people there depended on him, and he intended to get back there.

"First thing I'm gonna do when I get back is stop by Varsity's and get me a chili dog sideways. If the place is still standin', that is."

Cedric thought for a moment. He already told the Colonel where he was from, so why should he care if he tells another guy? "You want to know where I'm really from? Well, Alternate Earth. And just in case you want to ask why, supervillains with portals." Cedric said, and then prepared for Scarecrow to call bullshit. It isn't every day someone says 'yea, I'm from an alternate dimension.' Cedric wasn't really interested in lying though.

"Hell I don't know. I am not even sure if this is a bad thing. I mean, he is a heat manipulator, right?"

Shade looked at Plasma as if he was an idiot.

"Exactly you moron, he's not supposed to get a fever. Let me see 'im."

She went over to Napalm, searching for any open wounds.

Napalm stirred slightly. His temperature began to increase. Plasma walked to the front of him. "He looks like shit."

Scarecrow didn't bat an eyelash, he instead shrugged.

"This shit's so weird anymore, nothin' shocks me. Where on this alternate Earth are ya from?"

Napalm stirred slightly. His temperature began to increase. Plasma walked to the front of him. "He looks like shit."

Shade put her hand over Napalm and felt the helt.

"Thanks Captain Obvious. Napalm, ya there? How're you feeling?"

Long story short, nuclear war, not much was left of anywhere. Luckily for me, my little portion of the lone star state was pretty far from anything people were shooting at."

"Yea. You'd think that wiping out the majority of the human race would bring people closer together, at least out of necessity, but as it turns out it just brings out the worst in people." Cedric said, but stopped himself before he got to ranting about his world. "I'm just glad your Earth hasn't done the same."

Hanging his head solemnly, Scarecrow sighed.

"Nah, one of ours just opened a portal unleashing killer aliens upon us..."

He still blamed himself for not stopping Gratorus in time.

It was consensual, everyone agreed to it." Cedric said bitterly. He wasn't mad at Scarecrow, more at the M.A.D. situation the humans on his world put themselves in. They basically agreed that they all should die.

"I getcha, brother. Y'know, most people in my place would've become psycho-killers. If it wasn't for Jessica, I... I don't know what'd I'd be doing with my life. I came pretty close to going over the edge at one point..."

Cedric said, trying to slightly lighten the mood with that last comment.

"Y'know, I almost killed myself too... twice. Once Jessica talked me out of it, the other time... I refused to surrender. I've let a lotta bad things happen in my life, other things are just outta my control. I... it's really hard sometimes just finding the strength to go on. Thank God I'm not alone."

"Yea. It's helpful knowing that your not the only person trapped in your own little hell." Cedric said. "It's easier to keep going when you can look at someone else who can manage to. Especially for me because I can be a competitive prick on occasion." Cedric said with a hidden grin, once again trying to lighten the mood.

"Yea. It's helpful knowing that your not the only person trapped in your own little hell." Cedric said. "It's easier to keep going when you can look at someone else who can manage to. Especially for me because I can be a competitive prick on occasion." Cedric said with a hidden grin, once again trying to lighten the mood.

Scarecrow felt that this guy was closer to him than he thought.

"I have a nasty tendency for that too. Colonel hates it. I always try to be the best at everythin': marksmenship, hand to hand fighting, charisma, leadership, ecetera. Gotta push past my boundries. I'm far more than what I should be. I should've given up a long time ago. But you gotta keep going. I gotta fight for Colonel, for Darin, for Conall, and for Jessica. Failure ain't in my vocab, and if it is, I become stronger from it."

"Yea, always have to be the best you can be. As for me, I've never really been the best. I'm not the best melee fighter, I'm alright with a gun. The only reason I'm anything more than an average guy is this suit. I'm strong because of this suit, I'm fast because of this suit, I'm only alright with a gun because of this suit. Even my 'intelligence' comes from an AI on the damned thing. And I die if I take it off." Cedric said. He was starting to get more comfortable talking with Alex, Cedric felt like he was the only person he'd ever met who'd been through as much, if not more shit then him.

"Sure don't sound like fun. You're not that suit, y'know. I'm not Scarecrow, my name is Alexander Sanderson. Scarecrow is my ideals, but I am not fear incarnate. I've been through some awful shit, but I never have lost sight of who I am."

I couldn't have done all the things I have done without this suit, so I can't really say it's been a bad thing. I actually do like helping people, and this suit has allowed by to save thousands." Cedric said.

Scarecrow cut himself off. He was going down a private road no one had been down.
